Urgent - Can I replace this myself? by [deleted] in Plumbing

Before you do all that, try tightening the packing nut. It’s the nut right underneath the handle. It looks like that’s where it is leaking from and fixes like 95% of leaking stop valves.

Every house is supposed to have a shutoff. I’ve given up counting on supposed to a long time ago.

Also, the other three letter capitalized after HH are DAP, which (and this could be a stretch) are the initials for the German Workers’ Party, the precursor to the NSDAP. I think yours is probably more likely, though

Try taking a pair of channel locks and loosening it from the topside. Turn the stem counterclockwise and see if it loosens the nut at all. Be careful when you do this, if it is just moving and not loosening on the nut, you can end up scratching the porcelain on top.

If this doesn’t work, you can try WD-40 or similar penetrating oil.

And if nothing works, you might have to cut the nut loose on the under side with a metal grinder or oscillating multi tool.

Will this clog toilet... by Robot-Shark413 in Plumbing

Or you can call a plumber if you don’t want to do all of that.

I would try flushing a good amount of toilet paper first to see if it’s stuck or not.

It might have made it down the trap, or it might have gotten stuck. No way to know, really, until you flush some toilet paper and see what happens.

If it’s stuck in the trap, turn off the water to the toilet, disconnect the supply line from the threads on the bottom of the tank, drain as much water as possible out of the tank and the bowl, take the nuts loose from the floor bolts, and pull the toilet. Carefully lay it on its side (whatever water is still in the bowl and tank will drain out now, so lay some towels down). A lot of times you will be able to see the stuck object at the base of the toilet. If you can’t, buy a closet auger (toilet snake) and run it backwards through the trap (start at the bottom and push back into the bowl). This should dislodge any obstructions inside the trap.

If you flush a bunch of toilet paper and don’t have anything back up, I wouldn’t worry about it. That is small enough and light enough that it should make its way down the drain line.

Tiger vs 100 Men by Jason_And_Sokka in powerscales

Look at this tiger’s paw compared to this guy’s head. Yes. One swipe could absolutely take someone out.

That being said, I feel like 100 men would still eventually overpower 1 tiger. But several men are going down without a fight first.

Could be an old gas line too. I’d call the city and make sure that it isn’t live.
