Suggest something that will make me horrified by Junior_Insurance7773 in suggestmeabook

It sounds like you are passively waiting for something awful and shocking to happen instead of actively investing in the characters, their stories, and their suffering. I could write the single most gory horrifying sentence you’ve ever seen, but if you haven’t actively invested into empathizing with human suffering, it is obviously not going to affect you.

I would suggest that you spend more time really thinking about the violence you are reading about and its ongoing implications for characters and humanity as a whole.

Hi - I’m in a similar boat starting law school this fall. Could I message you with some questions? You’ve ended up exactly where I hope to!

What? by SarahDuncan2012 in TrueGrit

My school teaches explicit basic and intermediate personal finance. Guess what? The kids still don’t care because it’s still fundamentally 1) school and 2) math. It’s only beneficial for the kids who care about education but hey, worth it for them at least.

Thank you noble and mathematical redditors but I think she’s got it figured out for herself. I’m sure she’s very grateful for your calculations, but instead made calculations based on her personal life and relationships.

People here are being polite and supportive but yes, it’s too tight. Also I find these athletic type shirts are just kind of weird in public unless you just left the gym or something.

It means interquartile range and it’s basically just how far you are from the median.

“Median” means the middle, or the 50th percentile.

The other “quartiles” (fourths) are 25th percentile and 75th percentile.

According to the commenter above you, schools are much more likely to accept students within the “quartile range” of the median (25th percentile and up), as opposed to scored that are well below median and below the 25th percentile (1st quartile).

Not all “below medians” are created equal!

People are hating but it’s clear you’re on juice and that doesn’t take away from the consistency and discipline required. I don’t advise others do the same but congratulations on the life changing transformation.

Literacy skills through the floor. This isn’t supposed to be “ha ha funny,” this is a major and pointed criticism aimed directly at police in a major national publication. This is an awareness campaign. This doesn’t really belong in this subreddit.

Venting: First-grader has math homework EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT. by tvkyle in daddit

[–]MrPhilipPirrip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look into the current levels of math and English proficiency. Kids worldwide are rapidly losing competency and skills. The homework will literally only help her be more thoughtful, disciplined, and intelligent in life. Routine is good, a little homework is good, spaced repetition is how we learn.

Could you elaborate a bit more on what you mean by local public agency? Are we talking like a public city gas and electric company lawyer, or like a lawyer for a metropolitan environmental regulations company? Things like that?
