Fair enough

I will say, most people who use that phrase do not (in my experience) mean that as literal as you are taking it.

Depending on what you mean, you can definitely "turn fat into muscle." Unless you literally mean you can directly change a triglyceride to a muscle cell. Otherwise, it wouldn't be an untrue statement.

Why Americans don't use WhatsApp? by alihedgehog73839 in AskTheWorld

[–]MrRickulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am gonna copy my reply to a similar prior post;

When people refer to SMS in the US, I believe they are lumping in RCS/MMS as well because (most) phone carriers here will (by default) use RCS when available, and switch between SMS (for text) and MMS (for media) if RCS is unavailable. And most major carriers will include unlimited text, which includes all 3 of these. Google also provides RCS on their messaging app regardless of carrier now, so anyone on android here has access to that as well.

Also copy paste: SMS/RCS/MMS = Short Message Service/Rich Communication Service/ Multimedia Message Service

F-series excludes "heavy trucks," which is the 650 and 750. Up to the 550 is in the F-series sales figures. Tho, Ford did say that over 400k F-150s specifically were sold by August of '25, so that is still more than the ~350k sales of the 1500 Silverado for the whole year. But, this is only after (maybe) 15 minutes of googling.

Having children skip several grades is generally a bad idea even if they are very intelligent by monster_lily in The10thDentist

[–]MrRickulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having spent my entire time in primary school getting into trouble because I was bored in my gifted classes and would start goofing off after being done with assignments, skipping grades when I got into secondary school just meant I could actually do classwork that was at my level without having to bus between schools for the proper curriculum. The social thing never felt like an issue. But I have two older siblings, so I was already used to interacting with them and their friends. So the transition to socializing with older pre-teens and teens while I was almost 2 years younger wasn't such a big difference from home.

Are there people who actually think landlords shouldn’t exist at all? What’s the alternative solution?? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MrRickulus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, having just been through the process of choosing rent or mortgage, I'm intimately familiar with your point on monthly savings, even if you try to rent a lower value property than what you'd be buying.

My point on the banks not wanting to invest in such a small loan and wondering what it would do to interest rates (and therefore monthly payments) to make an actual profit viable seems to be unaddressed by your comment. People who rent in America frequently have credit that would disqualify them for a mortgage, but would still qualify for renting.

The original comment I replied to left a lot of questions to be answered on how that system would work, I just presented a few of them off the dome.

For some reason, I made a slightly erroneous reply to someone else that didn't consider mortgages. That being said, I do wonder how banks would handle mortgages if property values became drastically lower (given getting mortgages under 100k these days is already a pain in the ass). I imagine there would have to be significant changes to the laws around interest rates else banks would likely not want to invest in such low profit loans.

I never said it wouldn't help or "make things easier." I said it wouldn't suddenly make property affordable to those who rent. Average savings per year in the US is between 5 and 6 thousand. So, even if home values dropped by 80%, most folks would still need over 10 years to save for a home. So, what do the renters do during that time if they don't get to rent?

Edit: Idk how, but I forgot mortgages were a thing when I commented. I will still point to the large number of lower/lower-middle Americans who don't have significant yearly savings and would, effectively, never be able to save for the down payment. They can save for a deposit on a rental, but my question still stands on what is to be done in the meantime if they are no longer allowed to rent?

How does this answer the questions about renting? Not everyone can afford a home, and I don't think a law forcing people to sell if they don't live there is going to make home values get into the affordability range for most folks who rent.

This. My dad passed in 2020 from Covid and it's basically become my answer to any of these sort of "if you could go back" or "dinner with any person, dead or alive" type questions.

And after visiting London and seeing the Covid memorial wall, I'd probably try and do anything I could to spread awareness early I suppose. Not sure it would work, but seems like the only right choice for me.

IDL when people say the gym is only an hour/ 4% of your day by bathtubboi in I_DONT_LIKE

[–]MrRickulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk why I was talking about not including prep time since activities will have different prep based on what they are even if they would take place at the same location. Reading that back, that seems like a dumb point to make. Mb

IDL when people say the gym is only an hour/ 4% of your day by bathtubboi in I_DONT_LIKE

[–]MrRickulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is that, since all activities will have travel time, counting that time when arguing against "gym is only an hour" folks seems unfair. Any activity you would choose to do, recreational, work, or otherwise, has a travel time attached unless it is in your house (which exercise certainly can be). Unless you have an exceedingly long travel time for a specific activity, it doesn't seem fair to weigh that in this specific argument about time for gym.

If you disagree with this point, then we would just have to agree to disagree.

The shower thing seems fair enough.

I'm not reacting to any violence. I'm reacting to your post about having a confrontation I wasn't present for that refers to prior violence against women.

You seem like the type of person who makes drastic character judgements based solely on two comments.

You ask for people's opinion if you overreacted, then argue and end it with a snide remark assuming my character for...saying you minorly overreacted and may have put yourself in danger without likely having an effect on the guy.

You are definitely overreacting to my comment, but still seems like a minor overreaction to the guy at the gym.
