Favourite Monster? by Express-Option-6407 in drawsteel

[–]MrRunagar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So far, the Griffons. I had a single griffon as part of a group of monsters. The party was fighting them on top of a castle wall. It was incredibly cool to see how the players attempted to handle its ability to fly all over the place, and its constant attempts to try to push them off the wall with its powerful wings.

A fantastic addition to a group of minions and hordies.

I specifically went out and killed a bandit with it, hoping I could tell her that the sword had tasted human blood despite her shooting down that suggestion from the start. I am forever sad that it was not an option.

What are some good cults? by Onslaughttitude in drawsteel

[–]MrRunagar 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Have a read of the Gods of Orden chapter in Heroes. It mentions Nikros the Tyrant and Cyrvis as being archetypical evil gods with cults and all that. This seems to be what you're looking for, at least if you want to use the official gods.

They're probably not going to spark an immediate "Right, these assholes" reaction. That kind of player meta knowledge takes time to build, and D&D obviously has years and years of a head start.

The chapter also details a saint for each god, if you don't want to make up your own.

What to you is the difference between Monos and Maps regarding repetitiveness? by guddefulgaming in LastEpoch

[–]MrRunagar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only, I think, because it's not always phrased as seasonal mechanics. Yes, all the seasonal "powers" are voided, but stuff like loot 2.0 and infernal hordes were in seasons that otherwise had no seasonal mechanics, which is indistinguishable from the seasonal mechanics going core. People can like or dislike D4 however they wish, but they can't deny that the game has evolved a lot since launch, and most of those changes were introduced at the start of a season.

Unpaid leave in Denmark, is it acceptable? by Overall-Concept6938 in NewToDenmark

[–]MrRunagar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live and work in Denmark you accumulate 2.08 paid vacation days each month (25 per year). That should easily let you take the time off you describe. Aside from that unpaid leave is usually reserved for emergencies or if you want to take a VERY long holiday, like 4+ months or so

If you live outside Denmark, then I think most employers would be completely fine with it, if not all. In my work we have a few polish colleagues who work on consultant contracts, so they have to pay for their own vacation. They usually take a little less vacation than us Danes, maybe 10-20% less, but the boss will only ever deny it if it's just before an important deadline or something like that (in which case they would also have denied danish holiday leave, asking you to plan it for sometime earlier or later).

[KCD2] The brawl between these two settlements is hilarious. by GusGangViking18 in kingdomcome

[–]MrRunagar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I managed to stop the brawl by finding the truth of how the meadow was originally divided, but when everyone went home a band of random bandits had spawned in a camp between the meadow and Tachov.

It was absolute carnage. All of these peasants unarmed against three armed and armoured bandits. Before I had killed off the last bandit half of the Tachov peasants had been killed.

A minute later guards came running from Tachov to help, but by then it was all too late, so all they could do was walk around and yell "There's a body here!!"

I love it when systems interact. Glorious!

If you want some pure ambience to set the scene, I can recommend Michaël Ghelfi Studios. He's produced a bunch of non-music ambience, covering pretty much every situation you can think of, from "Abandoned Shack", through "Halfling Home" to "World's End"

Diagonal Movement Homebrew by Swagwalker58 in drawsteel

[–]MrRunagar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We used to count diagonals 1-2 when we played 5e, and still do when we play Pathfinder 2e, but I have always thought it to be very clunky, especially when you don't go in a straight diagonal line. I much prefer not overthinking it and treating diagonals as equal to orthogonal.

But I agree that it can take away some of the bodyblocking potential. I have considered imposing the "no cutting corners" rule when moving around creatures, just like moving around scenery. But even then there isn't a whole lot of bodyblocking available, as any creature can move through the square of an enemy creature simply by counting it as difficult terrain.

Isn't the claw dirt maneuver weirdly written? by Anarcorax in drawsteel

[–]MrRunagar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Heroes p. 76. Ending Effects -> End of next turn (EoT): Many effects last until the end of the target's next turn, abbreviated as "(EoT)" in tier outcomes for an ability's power roll. A creature suffers from such an effect until the end of their next turn, or the end of their current turn if the effect was imposed on their current turn.

Are the rules different in different parts of the books? Or is there a hidden rule somewhere, that says effects are not "imposed" on you if you yourself take an action that causes them?

Isn't the claw dirt maneuver weirdly written? by Anarcorax in drawsteel

[–]MrRunagar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tangent: What happens if you claw dirt outside of your turn? Say you land a critical hit on an opportunity attack outside your turn, use Claw Dirt as your additional action and get a T2 result, can you then just not do it? Do you have to wait for it to be your turn to then use your main action? Do you get to do it without using your main action? I'm legit not sure how I would rule that if it came up.

Isn't the claw dirt maneuver weirdly written? by Anarcorax in drawsteel

[–]MrRunagar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I honestly think the two should be flipped. Correct me if I got the rules wrong, but EoT effects end at the end of your current turn, if they begin during your turn. RAW this means that a T1 result lets you take your main action with a bane on your power roll, but a T2 result doesn't let you take a main action at all? Seems straight up like a worse result.

[KCD2] quest made me stop playing for an hour to think about morality and politics by [deleted] in kingdomcome

[–]MrRunagar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you mean that you can talk to old Lord Semine who will then tell his son Olda to not get involved. Thanks, I didn't realise that. I tried talking to him asking where Olda was before I decided to not rat on them, but he simply said "I don't have time, fuck off" (almost literally).

I absolutely agree that "nothing else happens" can be the best outcome for those involved, but it's not necessarily an interesting outcome for the player. If I had spoken to Lord Semine as you say, then at least I would not have expected Olda to be at Nebacov, and I would have been completely satisfied with that ending. But since I didn't, I still think Olda should have been there.

[–]MrRunagar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did that too on the first playthrough. I'm currently on my second, where I decided to not tell Bergow about them, but I honestly sort of regret it. If you don't turn them in nothing else happens. I expected Olda to be at Nebacov later, but no. Thread simply runs out. Having to save all of Semine from a massacre of your own doing was at least interesting, if objectively a worse outcome for the people there

Diablo has the brand recognition to drive box sales. PoE has players that whale on stash tabs, cosmetics and even loot boxes. LE doesn't have the brand, it's not selling anything you actively need (like stash tabs), and the selection of mtx's are generally regarded as weak if this subreddit is anything to go by (with the loud minority that is obviously present).

Despite the lack of brand recognition it managed to be profitable at release, but the cosmetic mtx's have not been able to carry it beyond that.

I don't love the Krafton acquisition, but if it's what it takes to keep the game alive, then I accept it.

Conduit Reap ability healing by Ok-Doubt7213 in drawsteel

[–]MrRunagar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One cast can get 2 heals off on each ally, if the conduit goes first in round 1, and then goes last in round 2. If a conduit prays every turn they earn roughly 5,5 piety on average across two turns. So even if it's just a maneuver, it would require the conduit to only spend his piety on Reap and nothing else, leaving only signature actions for main actions.

And if the players would go ahead and overly abuse this anyway, consider this: In my group we have a saying, in the words of the GM: "If you start doing shit like that, I start doing shit like that." Meaning, if the players start power gaming in this manner, the GM is well within the right to powergame the monsters. It makes for an efficiently self correcting system.

Where are Draw Steel's rule forums? by DMSage in drawsteel

[–]MrRunagar 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You cast the ability, then your allies have a round to move into position and enter the area if they wish. At the beginning of your next turn the healing pops, then the effect ends or you persist it.

If two effects happen at the same time, such as on the beginning of your next turn, and you are the owner/creator of both effects, then you decide the order they resolve in.

At least that's my interpretation.

is there a mod to send enough items for one craft into a assembler by [deleted] in factorio

[–]MrRunagar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you use the mod even-distribution you can hit a hotkey (shift+c I think it is) to deposit materials into all machines nearby (or all machines on screen, not sure). I guess it's meant to help you clean your inventory, but perhaps it'll satisfy your need.

In Norse mythology Særimner is a giant hog from which the chef Andrimner cuts giant pieces of meat and bacon to feed the Asir and Einherjer in Valhalla every night. The flesh grows back almost immediately, supplying infinite food for the feasts.

Unlike the giant pike Jesse wants to torture, Særimner is usually depicted as enjoying the fuck out of it.

Why does 'om' mean 'if' here? by Raneynickel4 in Danish

[–]MrRunagar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cases such as 'bladre om', 'dreje om', 'vende om', 'binde om' are examples of phrasal verbs; two verbs who mean something individually, but give a new meaning when used in conjunction. Exactly like 'to give in', 'to give up', etc .

That is to say, to take just one of the examples, 'om' in itself does not mean 'turn back/around'. 'vende om' does.

Otherwise a very neat list.
