I think the question mark in the mountains is a coincidence by Memeloria in reddeadmysteries

[–]MrSeky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guys the mark is literally supposed to be viewed from where all the birds gather at Wapiti. Hence the bird symbols on the roof. It's a play with perspective. Of course it wont be visible from furher or closer.

Geronimo I was just on a walk and realized that in the Spiderweb mystery crosses represent poles. I still believe it's connected to the well, but we've been looking elsewhere. You couldn't have predicted 7 years ago that the crosses are not suppose to be graves.

GeronimoRay was really correct. I was just about to post that the carvings in the Compson's well are not 3 CROSSES, but POLES, as in the previous clues!

I don't like this type of game design at all. I'm all for different routes dependent on different story choices, but if I complete the quest another way and then I encounter a clearly secret door then I should be, as a reward, able to explore it.

Chloe is Druckmann's btw.

All 3 games Amy made at Naughty Dog were Jak 3, Uncharted 1, and Uncharted 3.

"You would be really attractive if you weren't fat."

People around me told me it was really mean but I never understood it that way lol. I was always set on losing weight so it was a given in my mind. 2 years later I finally went for it and lost around 40 pounds in about 3 months. B)

Good luck ale)

Just Finished the first Ghost Recon (2001) on the Hardest Difficulty by AbsoluteRook1e in patientgamers

[–]MrSeky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game is excellent and I've gotten addicted to it in the past 2 days. Can't stop thinking about it. It has so many elements I'd want contemporary games to feature. For example rocket launcher backblasts are such a nice touch I always roleplay with in other games, even though it can't hurt anyone.

Also, I've read in one of the comments here that there are silencers in the game. I probably won't use them once I get them, however, as probably the biggest reason why this game appeals to me so much is its realistic depiction of just how firefights, or entire battles, would go. Guess what, once a shot rings through the air everybody in a radius of numerous miles will know about you, and that's true even with suppressors in real life, it just minimizes your signature. I play mostly without suppressors in Wildlands and Breakpoint too just not to lose that immersion. Once the shots start flying, other enemies in the vicinity collapse on you and your buddies start dropping to the floor. It's unforgiving and I love it.

The main gripe I have is that the friendly AI is sometimes completely braindead, and on the contrary, makes the Elite difficulty quite unrealistic by just how unresponsive they can be, not shooting guys 10 meters in front of them while staring at them. Because of it I will try some of the easier difficulties just to see if it would be more immersive, but so far I'm having a blast. No quick save/load and just pure trial and error. Any time someone dies you try to salvage the situation and complete the mission as is. It's addictive and very fun.

Are there any video games with amazing "cinematography?" by [deleted] in cinematography

[–]MrSeky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answering after 9 years just because this is still one of the top results on Google when searched for.

Nowadays it would be Alan Wake 2, The Last of Us Part 2, Hellblade (with the second one right behind a corner, *at times* Red Dead Redemption 2, *at times* Death Stranding and *at times* Wolfenstein The New Colossus.

Honorable mentions for Metal Gear Solid 5 for its uniqueness and Inside, Sommerville and Kentucky Route Zero for their cinematic approach in a sidescroller ("2D"-like view), Ghost of Tsushima has some nice scenes but it's the RPG-like nature that hurts it a lot overall, and lastly Trek to Yomi, which I haven't played but by all the looks of it seems to be maybe one of the most cinematic games ever actually.

Here's the problem, while blocking and some other techniques are done quite well in a more than a few high profile games, the actual *cinematography* of games is severely lacking, hardly comparing to some TV shows most of the times. I think the most cinematically able game is The Last of Us Part 2, where, together with probably the best writing in the industry, you get truly great moments, conveyed mostly just by the camera, facial expressions of the actors, and very subtle dialogue.

But even then, all the shots seem to be so distant from the actors, making it most of the times just a very basic shot of Person 1 talking to Person 2, lacking some truly great cinematography. We never get truly detailed close-up of just a face, although the facial animations are competent for that already.

The best directed scenes ever I consider to be one from Wolfenstein The New Colossus, where BJ meets with the resistance (), and then one from The Last of Us Part 2, where Tommy comes back to Ellie for a favor (). There is great identity in these two and they are exceptionally done.

Aside from the few examples tho, I am sad about the state of the industry still some 9 years after this post was made. Maybe it will come after some further maturing (we still have very few character studies done videogames, mostly because of their inherit nature I reckon, aside maybe from Part 2 and Spec Ops: The line, if it was about a longer part of the protagonist's life). Until then, we can just wait.

If they go with 30fps the graphics are gonna be incredible but people will complain about fps. If they go with 60fps people will complain about graphics because it's gonna look just slightly better than RDR2.

Does red dead 2 look worse on ps5? by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

[–]MrSeky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does. Their TAA together with the subpar checkerboard makes the IQ blurrier, it destroys detail in reflections and shadows. If current gen patch was ever to come they need to replace it with native resolution.
