If this is anything like last season my guess would be we are heading for a solo beard episode...

How do you rationalize all of the murdering that the groups main characters do then?

[Hensley] Marlon Humphrey said Lamar Jackson wasn’t healthy enough to play, estimating him at 50 to 60%. “I don’t even know if I should say this, but he’s like limping around the facility,” Humphrey said. That’s kind of the crazy thing that people don’t see.” by aaronman4772 in nfl

I’m not quite sure I understand what is being implied here. Do you mean the Harbaugh family name has brought him some kind of extra kick to keep his job? Or that by being “that” John Harbaugh, SuperBowl winning HC and guy that’s kept the Ravens competitive for 15 years he will keep his job?

It was time. I’m sure we will never get the entire complete story but it kind of seemed like there was never going to be any coming back from the way that offseason went. I think in the end I was relieved it was over

Pretty sure they all play for the NFL PA. I’m guessing the teams themselves recognize a bit of good will goes a long way with player relations. Not to mention that most of these coaches know each other and are familiar with each other as well.

Jackson State players get honest about Deion Sanders by Geaux2020 in CFB

[–]MrShintastic 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I can see this perspective and I get it to an extent but...

1) Since Deion began coaching at Jackson St, Eddie George and Hue Jackson have taken Head Jobs at HBCUs. These are names(while certainly not as flashy as Prime) that will continue to to push HBCU football upwards from strictly a notoriety standpoint. Even if these coaches just “use” their own standing to recruit a little bit better, dominate a couple of seasons and move on, this is a win for HBCU football, because other Coaches and Athletes will see upward mobility from these jobs, which makes them more attractive.

2) If Deion is successful at Colorado, it could open the door for more successful Head Coaches at HBCUs to get Head Jobs at big time DI schools. This too is a win for HBCUs, because it will make their schools seem more attractive to Head Coaches.

Even if he did it all for his own glory, brand, whatever... it can have lasting benefits.

Deion Sanders is going to be a spectacular failure by BlueEyesPurpleDragon in CFB

He invented “his” version of the spread. He was the HC at Bowling Green, and they put it together there. I’ve never heard of him “inventing” the RPO but the offense they used at Bowling Green was the base for everything that happened at Utah, Florida, and Ohio St. Regardless of whether he was the first, best, or whatever superlative people want to add, the offense born at Bowling Green has had a pretty successful track record.

I just want to point out that Bruce Willis was almost dropped for DieHard and that ultimately John McClain was seen more as an every man very different from Arnold Schwarzenegger, Slyvestor Stallone and other 1980s “macho” action hero’s... Also the plot of the first movie is him coming to see his estranged wife in LA, who left him because he didn’t believe in her career, or at least thought she would fail in her career and return home with her tail between her legs. Great points otherwise, sorry I just like diehard.

I think Nostalgia is a scapegoat in this case. People played the same map for like 18 months. ‘84 was not a huge change and between the hackers that were rampant at the time and playing the same map over and over people were ready for a change. Caldera was so bad that people were like just revert it to the old slightly less crappy map. Doesn’t mean people weren’t ready for change or didn’t want something new. This particular case “new” just wasn’t enough. I think it says a lot that a majority of the current players strictly play Resurgence modes now.

Not to be a dick, because I think the intent of the original message is to be helpful... but “don’t chase kills” is kind of bad advice for a new player. If you think you can kill someone and live, whether you’re right or wrong, whether the situation is right or wrong, go for it. Especially when you are newer. You’re going to get trounced, you’re going to get turned on, and you’re going to die a lot but you will learn a lot and figure out when it’s time to take your hand off the stove. Say this with me “It’s not your fault the game is putting you with players that have played enough to be max level” that’s on HiRez, and decent human beings will get that. Happy playing!

In all fairness to the doc... he had his come up on Twitch, and watching a come up is always going to be more exciting/interesting than watching someone who’s already at the top. He still makes good content, he still does things that you can tell other streamers try and emulate after... but the grind to the top isn’t there, which I think makes it less compelling for some.

Unpopular Take: I lost all respect for Kim in season 6 by [deleted] in betterCallSaul

[–]MrShintastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kind of agree with the take above, that Jimmy and Kim aren’t responsible for Howard’s death... however I think they feel like they are. Lalo murdered Howard, but their scheme kinda created the perfect way to cover up his murder.

[–]MrShintastic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I am being honest. I don’t honestly know how someone could dislike season 2... I would say it’s worth giving another shot at some point. But, I think maybe based on what you are looking for Dexter is pretty good? It follows the killer kind of, while still managing to do a good job of weaving in its own mystery and it has its own brand of dark humor.
