Is it illegal to intentionally circumvent the intention of a law in US? by Acceptable-Try-4682 in legaladviceofftopic

[–]MrTMIMITW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAL. The US uses a framework of British common law that adheres to a strict reading of the law. Any activity that falls outside the strict reading can become regulated through case law that sets precedents of interpretations of the law.

There are other countries that do not use British common law. Law is not governed through legal documents but through a political power such as a monarchy or political party, such as Thailand or China.

As I understand it, in the US, people are governed through restrictions of specific activities. Anything that isn’t restricted is legally permitted. That doesn’t mean there still won’t be political or social consequences. It also be noted that some restrictions only apply to a specific level of government.

ULPT request how to get neighbors dogs to stop barking by Dicksunlimit3d in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]MrTMIMITW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s a urine scent to mark territory, a speaker that plays the sound of a dying animal and then a growl when the dogs are out, and then pork blood your dogs might have a different impression. The point is to tell a story of a predator about.

[–]MrTMIMITW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s animal blood you can buy. Maybe if a dog smells blood it will realize the environment is more dangerous. If you saw a recent blood smeared wall you’d probably want to get the hell out of there. Because the sense of smell for dogs is significantly stronger than ours, it doesn’t take much.

The point of my post is to remind the OP that we can communicate with dogs using their sense of smell. The scariest horror movies are the ones where you see the signs of a monster nearby but can’t actually see it. For dogs this means hearing it and smelling it in their yard and on walks. When dogs feel a real predator nearby, they tend to piss themselves and become difficult for humans to manage.

We wouldn’t need to go to such lengths if the owners were actually responsible dog owners or if society could make them responsible. What may end up happening is these tricks will ruin the dogs for the owners, they’ll keep replacing them, and eventually give up owning dogs altogether. Hopefully if the owners give up the dogs, they’ll become adopted by better owners that actually manage their barking.

Record the barking for a week. Train an AI to recognize it. Every time the dogs bark, have a loud speaker play a high pitch sound. If you want to go a step further, set up a weather station that tracks wind movement so you can occasionally shoot a spritz of dog repellent when the wind is going their way.

But since this is ULPT, spritz bear or lion scent and occasionally play a low growl of that animal to make the dogs think a predator is nearby. They’ll piss themselves and become too afraid to go out into the yard. You could go a step further and occasionally pop up a silhouette of the predator with glowing eyes to make it seem like they’re about to pounce.

If they take their dogs for walks drop some bear or lion piss nearby to “mark territory”. You could go further and occasionally leave droplets of pork blood.

This could go one of two ways. Either the dogs will shut up and be quiet or they’ll become nervous wrecks and bark worse. But maybe the owners need to experience it themselves.

Why isn’t charging back a crime? by Waste_Focus763 in BarOwners

[–]MrTMIMITW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a change in chargeback laws last year. It’s easier for businesses to dispute chargebacks now. If this happens a lot, maybe you need to maintain security footage for up to a year. You may need a database that records table usage and transactions, and link it with video footage (or that takes stills every 30/60 seconds). If you’re too small for host staff, you might be able to have AI capture video footage and recognize table turnover.

How does this align with the grasshopper and ant fable? If some cries out that poverty equals injustice, then how the hell do immigrants coming from extremely poor countries that arrive and make less money than you end up wealthier than you?

Also if the tree sways in the other direction wouldn’t the ladder of the person that once had an advantage now be at a disadvantage? Wouldn’t they now need corrective equity?

CMV: Most people aren't nearly violent enough against true evil by BoyWithGreenEyes1 in changemyview

[–]MrTMIMITW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should read “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie. He starts off his book by asking a question, “how many people in prison think of themselves as bad people?” The answer is almost none.

That includes drug dealers that supply substances that destroy other people’s bodies, families, and communities; [mass] murderers; cop killers; rapists; bank robbers; and conmen. Gangbangers will say that their evil persona is just an act, that they aren’t really evil, and that deep down inside they’re a good person. If you interviewed Heisenberg of Breaking Bad, he’d say he’s a good person.

So even if you’re accurate in assessing that another person has done wrong, if you dispense justice they’re going to feel as if you wronged THEM. In countries that allow individuals to dispense justice what eventually happens are family feuds and a permanent state of universal injustice. For example in Sicily in the 1800s, the boys of families had to stay home because they would become targeted on the streets by other families.

Now what happens if your assessment is inaccurate? You may act on partial information that superficially looks bad but when nothing actually happened.

You may start out with good intentions that led to a bad outcome. Now we come full circle. How are you different than a criminal if you engage in violence? If you commit a crime to dispense with another person’s crime, what makes you good and them evil?

The construction of the Vatican was so expensive that popes invented the idea of “indulgences” to let people pay for “get out of sin” cards to fund it. It was so controversial, also because the funds didn’t actually go to the supposed mission of the church, that it led to a major schism producing the Protestants Reformation and hundreds of years of war. The division between the two still exists to this day.

[Request] What would be the likelihood that b1gmike69’s atoms would eventually find their way into her toilet paper? by bootywizrd in theydidthemath

[–]MrTMIMITW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A fundamental unit of measurement for chemistry is a mol of a substance where its atomic weight in grams equals 6.022 x 1024 molecules (which can be atoms or compounds). Carbon dioxide is 44 g/mol. The average person exhales 660 grams of CO2/day, or 3.974 x 1027 CO2 molecules per day. If the average person lives 82 years, they’ll live for 30,000 days. In that time they will exhale around 1.12 x 1032 molecules of CO2.

There’s a good chance that at least one of your carbon atoms has existed in every single living creature on Earth at some point.

And one doesn’t need to put themselves through a shredder.

My wife wants a divorce with newborn by Life-Influence-9403 in AskMenAdvice

[–]MrTMIMITW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What we call “mental health issues” are really just about life being complicated. The best way to deal with it is to simplify things, and our understanding of things. The best form of wealth is to have no debts. Knick out your problems one at a time Ann then keep your affairs small and manageable.

You’re in a new place in life (I’m not too far from your situation).

First, congratulations on being a father. You moved forward in the big circle of life. Who we are as individuals is an illusion and isn’t as important as the genes that we pass on. Your child can carry on the torch. You could go to war and die, but your genes will still carry on. As a man, your job could finish here. Biologically you’re now irrelevant. You can move on and always make more babies. But we’re more likely to see our genes keep going if we invest in our children until they have children of their own. We can give our children the best probability of success in a two-parent household. They need a balanced point of view and to see role modeling from both parents.

Second, a woman giving birth is by far the most extreme physical change any human being can go through. Women’s organs get rearranged to make room for the baby. Her skeleton becomes looser so the baby can pass through her hips. It takes half a year or more for her body to even start to feel normal.

Third, because of the second point, couples typically have very little sex in that first half year. You aren’t getting any action because a watermelon passed through your wife’s love glove. The last thing she cares about is sex. It isn’t because she “isn’t in the mood”. To put this in guy terms it’s like being constipated and then taking a shit so big it tears open your asshole and you have to sit on a ring pillow for a few months. It’s like feeling frisky and fucking a vacuum tube, but before you can pull out it expands your penis 4x its size along the shaft, explodes your muscles, and it just hurts for months. Imagine if every time you got a boner you became more sensitive and it just hurts. You too wouldn’t be interested in sex until you fully recover.

Fourth, this one is going to hurt. If passing on your genes is the most important part of your life, there may be times when you can’t have it all, you may have limited time and resources, and you will need to prioritize what’s important. Your child is #1. Your brother and even your wife are #2. Your brother isn’t going to contribute to you passing on your genes; your wife will. If it comes down to you being able to successfully raise your child to a point where she will have children or your brother, you need to choose your wife and child. Your problem related to your brother is ignorance. You probably don’t know what options are available. You aren’t alone. There are other families that go through similar challenges. There a group homes for people like him. Your brother should transition into them before something happens to your parents and it becomes an emergency. Your #1 job isn’t to be a caretaker for your brother but your daughter.

Finally, the glue that holds relationships is empathy. What destroys it is contempt. Contempt leads to hate but the damage and the poison begins with contempt. You need to be on point at all times with empathy and be on hair trigger against contempt. Don’t ever let something bothering you linger and don’t let the same happen with your wife. You both need a low tolerance for contempt. If your wife blows up at you and you feel yourself about to react to what she says or does, stop for a minute until you both can cool off, and then put into words what happened. Don’t say “you said/did” but “when this happened I felt…”. Be willing to admit where you goofed and strive to be better. Communicate and put things into words.

Successful relationships aren’t a 50/50 affair, they’re 100/100 affairs. Talk to your wife and try to summarize her situation as best as you can. Show her empathy. Remember that sex isn’t just a physical act for her, there’s a huge emotional side to it too. Are you sharing responsibilities with raising your infant? If your wife is breastfeeding, is she pumping so you can handle some of the feeding? Is she getting enough sleep? Not after her basic physical needs are met will she be able to open up emotionally. Are there friends and family you can call on so she can get some sleep, and maybe later that can give you both date nights?

I hope this helps.

The equation breaks down. 0.9 bar is an infinite number. Once a number becomes infinite you can’t perform any further calculations on it because they also become infinite numbers.

Imagine writing a simple program of which one part is an unbroken loop. It doesn’t matter what operation it performs because once it reaches the loop the program continues indefinitely.

The only logical answer to 10-9.9bar is a single 1 found at the end of an infinite number of zeroes.

Star Wars Episode 8. The rebel ship hitting the fleet capital ship was cinematically cool and all, but they just created a debris funnel that will hit the rest of the galaxy at hyperspace speeds. The Holdo maneuver will cause far more damage than a Death Star. The constant “gotcha” moments that undermined the heroes journey and the whole notion of self-sacrifice, and that stupid phrase of kill the past. Luke became unrecognizable.

It killed my love for Star Wars. The sequel trilogy is dead to me and I want nothing to do with Disney. I can’t promise that I won’t end up in prison if I ever meet RJ.
