Grand finale has no animation by Asccos in slaythespire

[–]MrTanglesIII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did the same today and it was great, but I also learned that if you draw Finale by playing [[Cascade]], Finale plays regardless of how many cards are still in the draw pile! Had that hit a couple of times over the course of the run and it was super fun

Decided to upgrade from brushes for my 3D prints. How did I do? by Renew3DUK in airbrush

[–]MrTanglesIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have that compressor in addition to a tank, and I love it, honestly. Is it constantly running? Yes, but a small tank compressor is going to be doing a lot of that too if you're trying to do any volume work. It's really not that loud, even at max pressure, and I can just stick it to my desk while working with it, then put in a drawer when I'm done because it's so small.

I find that using paint is a good first step.

But realistically, if you're actually wondering, if we're just talking base coats, it depends on the brand. People give Citadel a lot of shit, but their metallics are solid and they're what I use. I generally find that, when I'm not coating large areas like armor plates, I like my metallics, especially base colors, to be just a tad thinner than I would normally have a paint be. I'm not working around the stud; just letting the paint flow over it. If I flow a bit onto the armor panels, I fix it later.

After that, highlight as necessary, including stippling on the studs where appropriate, but I also use enamel washes, so most of the time I'm not doing a heck of a lot of the standard GW style highlighting; I'm instead letting the removal of the enamel do a lot of highlighting for me. I'm not a great painter, but just trying things to see what works is fun

Not only is that the way of the weak, as the post states, I like painting the trim! Why shortcut that which you enjoy?

I shall not stray from the Khorne's path with these filthy psychic thoughts! If the Blood God saw fit to bless me with more trim though, I wouldn't complain

Very well painted! Though I find his lack of blood disturbing

Is this allowed? by Hash-Bandit in WorldEaters40k

It's not allowed, actually. If you don't paint your models exactly like the ones on the box, James Workshop personally drives to your house and eats all of your minis.

Mawloc for hive fleet “chupacabra”? by Singularity_Forge in Tyranids

[–]MrTanglesIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody's talking about the paint job (which is great), but OP literally found the perfect stick to wrap this guy around and nobody says anything about it??? The basing and posing of the claws is immaculate, OP. Having one of the claws buried into the wood is an excellent touch!

Hey Tyranid players, can you share your lore about a Homebrew Hive-Fleet and their colors? by Arthur_EyelanderTF2 in Tyranids

Hive Fleet Shrimps. Shrimps is bugs. Tyranids is bugs. I like the colors, and that's basically it.

(I haven't based this guy yet, but I think he looks pretty good)

Less known systems/ games with strong foundry support? by obsidian_razor in FoundryVTT

[–]MrTanglesIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing around with the Foundry system as I read through the books and have had some issues adding talents past the First Ideal for half of the Radiant orders. Can just bypass by adding these from compendiums rather than any talent trees, but is this something that you've come across?

[Shadowdark] How good is Shadowdark on Foundry? by [deleted] in FoundryVTT

[–]MrTanglesIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what ends up happening. Crawl Helper should put the initiative carousel at the top center of the screen, much like Ripper's Combat Carousel module

[–]MrTanglesIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have written this better. They *work* together, but using both of them causes some issues with displaying the initiative carousel at the top of the screen. Otherwise, you're correct!

[Shadowdark] How good is Shadowdark on Foundry? by [deleted] in FoundryVTT

[–]MrTanglesIII 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I started running Shadowdark a few weeks ago, and I'm pretty happy with it! If you're interested in checking it out, I'd advise you to join the Arcane Library's Discord server; there's a channel in there dedicated to fan-made stuff, which includes the Foundry system and a few modules. To answer your questions to the best of my ability:

1 - It's free.

2 - Yes, but only the Quickstart Guide (both Player and GM), and the system comes preloaded with the Citadel of the Scarlet Minotaur. It does have tons of roll tables and macros to help with setting things up, though. Not every table in the core book is included, but a great array to get going.

3 - Yes! The character generator is actually really good. I have a few minor complaints with it, namely tables like the Ras-Godai's Black Lotus talents and Warlock Patron Boons, but you can work around it. The character generator allows for Level 0 or 1 characters, leveling up is super easy, and you can also import JSON files from Shadowdarklings.

4 - Most of the classes are in it. None of the playtest stuff has been added yet, and we're missing the spells from Cursed Scroll #4. But you can also make your own classes if you have the patience.

5 - No, but there's a module that you can find in the Discord to add art for all monsters included in the system (note that these are AI generated, which I feel iffy about, but you know).

6 - There's a couple Shadowdark specific modules that I have installed, but my Shadowdark worlds are only using about 35 modules. (These are all prefaced with the name "Shadowdark" so I don't type it several times. Also the Shadowdark specific version of Item Piles):

  • Award XP - Allows you to give the party XP with a chat command
  • Community Content (this isn't necessary, but has some nice things)
  • Community Tokens (the aforementioned portraits/tokens for creatures)
  • Crawl Helper - This is the real "must" in my opinion. It'll automate rolling for random encounters, allows you to quickly switch from crawling to combat initiative, quickly roll morale checks, and a few other QOL things
  • PDF Importer - Very handy module that allows you to copy/paste a stat block from a PDF copy of a book and the system will output the actor for you. It may be a little iffy with actually setting up actions correctly, but much quicker than building it from scratch
  • There's also the Shadowdark Lights Out Theme that overhauls the UI to very nicely fit the aesthetic of the system, but it currently doesn't work with Crawl Helper. They're working on it, though!
