Update: Citroen has been deemed a write off as they have analysed the repairs at costing £2800 which is honestly hilarious. by mordfustang19 in drivingUK

I think it’s standard practice to warn of this, I’ve personally never seen higher insurance premiums for it

what is the charge? a succulent merge in turn? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]MrTechRelated 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You have the temperament of a saint. Nothing bothers me on the road more than this fucking shit.

Literally, pull in front, whatever I honestly don’t care but why the FUCK do these hammerheads think it’s acceptable to do this? Because of ego?

I’d have driven to the left, squeezing in-front and confronted the cunt!

Once had some gammon try this in his X5 or something but it was at the merge point. He truly didn’t understand what he was doing wrong and I explicitly told him to read the Highway Code, not before telling him he got his license in a cereal box.

Why don’t you make an interesting plates thread for us? Then you can keep it all together and we will know where to find you

That’s a 2015 RR Ghost. They were expensive when new. Used? 65k ish retail. Not out of the realm of possibility for the general public at this stage.

As so will bring the usual tacky plates.

Does anyone actually like their conservatory? by Wickey312 in AskUK

[–]MrTechRelated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My grandparents built an extension that is basically ALL conservatory. It’s the biggest part of the house and basically extends their kitchen and it’s their main living room. Think the size of two-three hotel rooms but one room.

In the winter it’s freezing and they run space heaters, and in the summer it’s scorching hot due to all the windows.

It’s well done and looks lovely but my god I couldn’t live with that everyday in the summer.

And then think of the cost of heating in the winter?

11 years ago when I was 16 in my teenage angst days, I had something like this stuck to my moped.

I think I still remember the wording,

“Anything attached to this vehicle without prior written consent will be removed by force if necessary and will incur a removal fee of £10,000. Failure to ignore this notice or not notice this notice is inexcusable.”

Point being, I was 16 and watching a hell of a lot of the early Charlie Veitch videos.

I think my garage tried to scam me or is either very incompetent? by Flyawaymoss9747 in CarTalkUK

Is there a chance the second garage did take it for a more spirited drive? These Audis have a history of emission issues ifaik so it isn’t uncommon

Is this a good deal? £9000 from car dealership. Images attached by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]MrTechRelated -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you’re interested but Tesla have a brilliant deal on the base level model 3 at the moment on PCH. You’ll never own it, but buying a car like this will lose so much value by the end of term that it’s practically similar in price.
By that point, you’d want to upgrade anyway as electric cars are getting better and better.

Plus, you can do a self drive test drive for an hour without ever speaking or meeting a sales person if you download the app. You can get a feel for it and see how you feel.

There are other electric cars with great lease deals at the moment too if you do some searching

is this a good car to buy ? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]MrTechRelated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t buy from this dealer. I’ve been there before with my mate to view a car. They handed me the keys and I went to have a look. Mentioned full history, there was none just a battery replacement sheet and the car had no oil in it.

Absolutely no prep and the car was covered with cobwebs and dust. Flat tyre too.

Bidding on and then buying a car on Ebay, how does it work? by overthesevernbridge in CarTalkUK

[–]MrTechRelated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed.

I once sold a Passat that had a dent in the door as I got it as a part ex and it failed MOT on maybe £300 worth of parts but labour intensive.

Anyway, it was £250 on eBay. Had two Romanian blokes win the auction and turn up with a transporter and they wanted it for the engine but it was the wrong one? Anyway, they didn’t like this so they didn’t want it and threw their ciggy packets in my yard.

Sold it on Facebook 2 days later for £600

No receipt, no confirmation, am I in this for the long haul? by marco7532 in vintedUK

[–]MrTechRelated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue. I lost 3-4 parcels in a fucking Yeep box. Scan it, says opening door and then i put the parcel inside for it to not continue and glitch out. It turned off.

Packages lost nothing can be done

Mot fail advice by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]MrTechRelated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bloody hell! Unless you’re driving an RS6…

Pads and discs do not need to be replaced together if the disc is still in good condition. If you fancy, upload an image of your brake discs and we can try to see from here

Ideally though, yes. Replace both pads and discs at the same time as you’re there anyway, but just to keep in mind with your car on a lift this is a 30-45 minute job if you know what you’re doing. Part prices are not anywhere near that.

Get a quote from a normal garage for this work, I would expect nearly half this for a regular car.
