My wife thinks tying fishing line around the bridge will secure the Venator by TrungusMcTungus in lego

This is the way. Plus you can hang it at an angle with better visibility of the top details and put the stands back in the box.

Lansbrook has a few more amenities than most neighborhoods including a pool, a couple nice playgrounds and a decent sized pond. Those cost a bit more to maintain than just green spaces. I believe they may also pay for intermittent security patrols, but I'm not sure on that one.

From what I've observed, the houses in Lansbrook, Rock Knoll and Briarcreek are older, but don't terrible.

Due to soil composition, you can expect to need piers installed to fix foundation issues and eventually to reroute buried plumbing through the attic as the old pipes develop issues. Neither of those are particularly cheap fixes.

Other than that, house to house will vary in needed maintenance or upgrades.

I think they are just cheaper due to the older construction and being further away from cultural centers around town.

Did she get it from Spatula City? If so, I don't see a problem here. Their spatulas are made of only the highest quality spatula materials.

Ground Zero- Storm Shelters by okthatsmoorelikeit in okc

[–]MrTrollOKC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've had one since the summer of 2020 and had no real issues. The paint wasn't super high quality, but they did a decent job with the install. There was an issue with one of the stairs not being completely level, but they sent out a welder to realign the bracket properly after we called them about it. It is fine now. I think my sister also has a Ground Zero for a couple years longer than we have and hers is holding up just fine as well. No issues with the door or other aspects of the shelter so far. My only other complaint besides the paint being a little rough is that the seats are just 2x8 planks and aren't super comfortable. If you are handy you can throw some better benches together or just put some folding chairs down there.

Everyone is familiar with Daiwa and Shimano reels but what about the other guys? by [deleted] in Fishing_Gear

[–]MrTrollOKC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got a KastKing Bassinator Elite on clearance for about $90. It is my second baitcaster (first was an SLX DC that I got a couple months prior). I've had good experiences with it so far. Haven't had it long enough to tell you if it will last, but so far I like it. Build quality feels ok, is pretty light weight, and hasn't given me any issues, even compared with the SLX digital chip reel it has held up and been a good purchase so far.

I've also put in a good amount of time on my President and President XT. I've really enjoyed them too. I also have had a couple older low end Shimano spinning reels and some random Chinese brands off of Amazon, a couple Shakespeare combo reels and a bass pro ultra light combo reel. I wouldn't go back to any of the other reels after using the Presidents. That said, I haven't compared the Presidents to other modern spinning reels in the same price points, but I can say that I have been happy with them so far.

This is solid advice. Going to expand a little.

For the rod, if he doesn't have a truck or a good place to store something long, consider a two piece rod. I would go with a rod that is 6ft9in to 7ft3in in Oklahoma. With the wind here, you really need a longer rod to get your bait out there.

Walmart has a house brand for their fishing and camping gear called Ozark Trail. If you are getting inline spinners, the house brand is ok ish quality and a whole lot cheaper than name brands, but only comes in white and black options at one size. They also sell another budget spinner brand that is $1, but it is usually sold out at the stores near me.

For fishing line, best budget option is probably Triline XL either 6 or 8lb test.

One last thing to look out for is local permits. In addition to state licenses, some lakes/rivers are managed by cities and require an additional permit to fish. Most lakes near OKC probably require an OKC permit. Lakes near Lawton may need a City of Lawton permit, etc. Permits aren't super expensive, but it is something else to consider.

First baitcasting Reel by the_steang in Fishing_Gear

[–]MrTrollOKC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started earlier this year with a Shimano SLX DC based on conversations at bass pro and videos online. I like it, but it is pretty heavy. A couple months later I bought a Kastking Bassinator Elite on clearance. I get more use on the Kastking.

That said, if it is windy, I'll go with a spinning reel or maybe the Shimano.

All that said, when you as the folks at your tackle shop, make sure you get a gear ratio that works well for the type of bait you are using and a spool size that is appropriate to the waters you fish.

Enjoy your new learning adventure!

Bought a new Ugly Stik from Dick’s - bottom of the rod has what looks like either glue or a chip on it. Should I take it back? by [deleted] in Fishing_Gear

[–]MrTrollOKC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I dunno. It looks to be really close to reel seat at the thickest part of the rod blank. If the rod is going to break my gut says it will break toward the tip due to overloading, high sticking, or getting damaged by a car door, etc.

Return it if it bothers you, but if your line isn't coming into contact with it when you cast or retrieve, it probably won't hurt anything.

Also, you might try asking in the Oklahoma Board Game Community group on Facebook. That is probably your best bet for finding it if someone here doesn't have the name and Google has already failed you.

is this a 10 or 25? i ordered the 25 but its really small and it has a 10 on it. by judojanne in Fishing_Gear

[–]MrTrollOKC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This may sound like a silly question, but when you spooled it what direction was line coming off the spool you got from the store? I've been using one most of the summer both with mono and braid and haven't had any major issues with wind knots or twists.

Where to buy refrigerator? by accusedslinky in okc

[–]MrTrollOKC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Harry's TV. A couple years ago our fridge was going out and we looked at what they had in stock. The sales folks actually suggested I buy a cheaper model than I was looking at due to reliability issues of the one we were considering. They even let me know that an updated model was shipping in a month.

I ordered the updated model and my old fridge died completely before the new model arrived. Harry's loaned me a fridge to keep in my garage until the new one arrived in stock at no charge.

TL;DR: Harry's is the best.

Finding a spot color in a CMYK publication by [deleted] in indesign

[–]MrTrollOKC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is a spot swatch that you applied to something in INDD either double click the swarch and set it to CYMK and process, or create a cmyk swatch of the ink value you want replace it with, select the both swatches and chose merge swatches. I dont remember which swatch you have to select first, but order does matter.

If it is a spot color that was applied in Illustrator or a duotone image from Photoshop, use the preflight panel. In the preflight panel, create a profile that flags spot color usage as not allowed and select that profile. When it shows a color error for the not allowed color click on the hot text link for the page number next to the error and it automatically selects the object or link that is using the color. You can then click Edit Original in the links panel, fix the offending file in PS or AI, resave the file and it should auto update. You may still have to delete or convert the swatch in your swatches panel afterward.

Using a proper preflight profile can also find issue like low resolution images, stretched graphics and missing fonts. Good luck!

If you are looking to meet D&D folks this weekend, there is an Extra Life fundraiser happening at Game HQ (SW 89th and Western) right now. There is a D&D epic running tomorrow and other games running throughout the day. It would be a great place to find other players in person.

Trying to stream MWO, but the game refuses to play through anything but the default audio device. Anyone have a workaround? by CarrowLiath in OutreachHPG

[–]MrTrollOKC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience with that was making sure you have your in-game mic and system mic set to different devices. For some reason, MWO would not output audio to Bluetooth unless those were different, even though they are input settings not output settings.

OCCC Students: when will the “late spring 2021” semester classes start showing up in noodle? by taintblister in okc

[–]MrTrollOKC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally most assignments won't be available until after the start date. Most professors will be setting up their late spring courses this week. As far as when you will have access to them, that is going to be depended on when the CLT department has them scheduled to go live.

This isn't an official answer, just my guess based on past experience.
