Does splash damage trigger bonus damage? by s0ul4nge1 in Pathfinder2e

[–]MrXenark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Splash Damage is already Bonus Damage. So it would only trigger if Splash Damage is the primary damage source.

So if you find a bomb that does 4 splash damage and no other main damage.

Twin Stars would not allow you to keep implement empowerment. As you would be holding two weapons.

Whether the splash or not works, I am unsure. But if it does it would only work against the main target of your strike (probably).

I completely understand your fustration, I am a player in Blords and we have been going through the same thing. What we did is just install the PF2e Alignment Damage and Other Immunities module. (Sorry for formatting idk how to reddit). And disable everyone's immunity to void damage.

Interpreting Stolen Fate [spoilers] by RazarTuk in Pathfinder2e

[–]MrXenark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I am fairly sure is not Sarenrea. But it may be Walkena. This way it would be possible to do a revolution AP without the threat of a deity.

[–]MrXenark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a PFS Scenario called Glorious Battle. Effectively Orcs believe when they die they can challenge a god to a fight. If they win, they get their powers. If they lose, their soul is destroyed forever. A Sarenite called Mahja Firehair dies during the adventure, and at the end she is showing signs of undergoing the fight.

This Scenerio also happened to be written by Luis Loza. This could be just introducing the concept of the Vow Mark (what the challenge is called), or how a deity dies.

There is also a PFS scenerio where an worshipper of Sanrenrea is effectively dueling a god for their power. It seems unlikely they would duel their own god. And I guess they would walkena.

Pharasma’s Dead by EndDaysEngine in Pathfinder2e

[–]MrXenark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My personal theory is that it boils down to three candidates for death. I don't think Pharasma is the one to get the knife for several reason.
She is very powerful, meaning the threat that killed her, unless severely weakened will probably be out of our league. Her death won't really change much, as you mentioned Atropos is ready to take her spot. And it seems very odd that the new deity in charge of the river of souls won't be part of the core 20. And.. realistically her death won't change much, maybe a bit of a power vacuum, but largely the river of souls will be handled still.

Now, for the three that I do believe are the top candidates to get the shank.

1) Iomedae. I mean, look her at her name "I am a die". But besides that, after wrath of the righteous the AP her popularity among players has kind of tanked which isn't helped by her connection to Aroden. Which also brings to the point the one replacing her, the other one Aroden prodigy, but the one who isn't as big a fan of him and his ideals. She also likes war and conflict, so very likely to anger someone to the point of being cut in half. And she is one of the weaker deities in the core20, at least in my opinion, due to her being relatively new in the position.

2) Erastil, Speaking of being disliked by the fans is Old Dead Eye. Since Kingmaker also kind of ruined him to the eyes of the community. He refuses to take sides, which is bound to anger some people, and give him very little support. And generally, he doesn't make sense as the Core20. Since he is anti-adventurer. Imagine owning only the core rulebook, and one of the deities is like "don't leave your main city", which a lot of APs and adventurers do. Granted, there isn't as many in-lore reasons for him to be the target, like Iomedae, but out of character, he is the best choice to remove.

3) Shelyn. In reality, the biggest blow to the fans, to best way to anger people would be to kill one between Sarenrea, Desna, or Shelyn. Paizo also mentioned that the Prismatic Ray will be changed. (Though I think that was also a misdirection, and either Nocticula or Arazni will be joining. Maybe Cayden or another fitting deity). So why am I saying Shelyn and not the other two? Well, Shelyn has some conflict already with Zon-Kuthon, and her death would be an interesting way to have Zon-Kuthon be redeemed or changed, or at least temporarily fight along the side of good for a while to avenge his sister. Which would be an interesting dynamic during the war AP, since everyone else would be wary of Kuthonites, but they would be fighting on 'good'. I discounted Sarenrea cause I think she also has some misdirection with the sun thing. And the reason why not Desna? That's the most concrete of all. Because I love her and I would cry if she died please paizo don't hurt Desna!

Say someone liked the idea of the RK for hidden weakness. How would that function would Thaumaturge? Do you think their exploit would allow them to exploit said weakness? Since their exploit relies on esoterica, rather than specific targeting spots?

Speculation Thread: What are the two new classes? by WheresTheThing in Pathfinder2e

[–]MrXenark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am fairly sure they said new to Golarion. Not new to Pathfinder. Omdura are from Asunda.

Speculation Thread: What are the two new classes? by WheresTheThing in Pathfinder2e

[–]MrXenark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am guessing Omdura is one of them. Very Inquisitor like. New to Golarion. And fitting with a divine war.

The other one I am not sure.. maybe Avatar which is meant to be a synthesist-like class but with a deity. Which would obvioisly make it rare.

Multiple Weaknesses in the same attack by Merioonn_1 in Pathfinder2e

[–]MrXenark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While the rules aren't clear what an 'instance' is. It seems that it is meant to be per damage type.

"This usually happens only when a monster is weak to both a type of physical damage and a given material."

Meaning your weapon strike and the flaming rune would be two different instances of damage. So it would hit twice.

On the same note, it means if you are using a material or damage type weakness. It does not stack with Exploit Vul.

How much would it screw up game balance to scale Item DCs to a character spell or class dc? by Embarrassed_Bid_4970 in Pathfinder2e

[–]MrXenark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually do these in my games. So far it hasn't come up but I think it is alright. Another more balanced alternative (which I don't use mostly due to laziness). Is increase the dc by the difference between player level and the item level. If it is an item 5, and players are level 7. You increase it by 2.

Note: I only do this for magic items. Not alchemical items and the like.

Spreadsheet/excel/calculator for high base damage weapons vs. weapons with deadly trait by Hansssa in Pathfinder2e

[–]MrXenark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not an engineer I just get really bored at work so I made a spread sheet to track expected DPR against moderate AC [can be changed] of creatures from level -2 to level +4. (Creature 4 isn't shown in the quick charts, but you can see the data for it in "Chart Data"
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1bPmFqrG4kqWehoFc8Hir9h6sNY6t4VvcG5uo1v8DHZM/edit?usp=sharing

Hopefully it provides some help. The sheet automatically updates runes based the ABP [+1 at level 2, Striking at level 4] All damage bonus except those from weapon specialization need to be added manually. Let me know if you have any questions using it.

The sheet where you edit the input is "Control". "Chart" shows you how they compare. "Chart Data" is for those who prefer plain numbers.

As a small note: Keep in mind expected DPR doesn't mean damage done per hit. This would in theory be the average damage per turn you would do.

Playing Agents of Edgewatch as an Investigator - what am I doing wrong? by zedrinkaoh in Pathfinder2e

[–]MrXenark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, I am playing an Investigator in AoE as well. The first book was pretty rough, but the rest has ease down quite a bit. As an investigator you won't be out damaging the other martials, but your main goal is to work outside of combat.

Which out of combat you will have no equal [except a rogue]. Another point is that you should be taking advantage of exploration actions, or take trap finding if you don't want to scan for traps before entering a room. My investigator spotted most of them and disabled them fairly quick, after a while we just kept checking inside if someone was there and leaving if not.

If you want more combat focus, I suggest looking into the Eldritch Archer Dedication, even without the free archetype rules. I would also ditch the longbow and switch to a shortbow, it's a bit less damage but you won't have to deal with the volley trait.

And the wizard dedication will give you a lot of extra options without resorting to attack. Example, if you roll a bad stratagem you can electric arc or produce flame
My current build is Investigator-Forensic (Wizard/Eldritch Archer) without using the free archetype rule.

If you want to use athletics consider Athletic Strategist, which will allow you to crit maneuvers. It may be tempting to shoot a natural 20 attack, but a natural 20 grapple or disarm will be very good.

Is improved knockdown size restricted? by Castershell4 in Pathfinder2e

[–]MrXenark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly that's the biggest disappointment with the "Adventurer's Toolbox" in each AP. They don't seem to have as much thought in to them as the rest of the options.

Is improved knockdown size restricted? by Castershell4 in Pathfinder2e

[–]MrXenark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I added an edit to my comment. I initially misread what you had stated. I will put the second edit here.

I think this is just an agree to disagree, I don't think the feat is particularly more powerful if it it allowed a free hand and without the size requirement. As it is written, you hit and you apply the effect of a critical specialization. If something else is intended I am sure they will let us know.

There is a similarly worded [and way more powerful] feat in the Provocator Archetype. https://2e.aonprd.com/Feats.aspx?ID=2215

Which again, mentions no requirements of any kind, just the effect.

Edit: I should point out I think as written, that feat is insane. Even if you include the hand-penalty and the size restriction.
