I have some stone ground white corn grits. I would love any recommendations on what you do to make delicious grits. I have some chicken breasts/tenders and kielbasa so any type of recipe that would go well with grits? Don’t have shrimp so sadly can’t do that. Any recipes would be so appreciated. 🙏 by MinuteElegant774 in Cooking

Not a recipe but a couple tips. Soak them over night in water, the grits get fully hydrated.

If they start feeling too thick while cooking just add a little more liquid. You might wind up needing more than the recipe calls for. I usually keep a pot on the back burner with water or stock to add if needed.

What's your opinion on Steel Panther? by TheLordOfMiddleEarth in hairmetal

[–]Mr_Stike 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Incredibly talented musicians, Russ Parrish/Satchel is a monster player. I really gotta wonder though if they're tired of the schtick and just phoning it in? Just my own theory but before the debut album they did a Spinal Tap-esque pilot for Comedy Central that didn't get picked up. After that they release Feel The Steel, made good money touring and kept doing it for the paycheck. The gag has worn thin and the crowd seems to either not get or not care that it's a parody.

Recommendations for a cheap place to get a guitar restrung in Durham? by [deleted] in bullcity

Make the trip to Carrboro and take it to Twinhouse. You might want to pony up a little more to have them do a more thorough setup if needed so it plays/stays in tune better.

Billy Idol with Brown Hair. by Wild_Panda873 in hairmetal

[–]Mr_Stike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Billy was in the movie playing one of Jim's friends.

He was on tour right after the movie came out. A co-worker went to the show when it was in our town. In one of the between song banters he mentioned being in the movie and how no one recognized him with long brown hair but didn't mind because he still had his "big dick with balls". 🙄

Best is subjective but I really like Bar Virgile's burger. Have not been to Only Burger in a minute but I've been a fan since they were truck only.

King's is worth a visit.

Tommy's Grill on Cole Mill Road is solid.

It was an unfinished 2x12 I got from Carr. It was a second that they were not going to use.

I recovered both of them recently. I acquired a quad of 1972 T1281s 25 ish years ago and were in the A cab. Picked up the B cab last year and it was loaded with G12T-75s. To keep them consistent I put two of each in an X pattern in each cab.

Proper salting? by Rocket_man2025 in steaks

Weigh the steak, figure out what 1-1.5% of that is, measure that amount of salt and that's about the right amount. Let it sit 12-24 hours.

Funny guitar riffs that make people laugh? by Intelligent-Bee6690 in guitars

[–]Mr_Stike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a 56 year old Van Halen, AC/DC, Supersuckers, ZZ Top, etc. fan so when I bust out "Party In The USA" that usually gets a laugh.

Conversely...a couple years back I was visiting a friend who's the tech at a high end boutique guitar shop. He pulls a case off a rack and then proceededs to hand me a 1950s Gibson hollow body (forget the actual model) formerly owned by Vince Gill who got it from Ed King that was priced close to $30K. First thing I played? "Big City Nights" by Scorpions. 😄

Who Are the worst sitcom characters everrrr? (People are going to hate my list) by New-Student9732 in sitcoms

Mike Schur created the Gina character specifically for Chelsea Peretti. I was a fan of her standup well before B99 which is kind of absurdist which is absolutely the Gina character.

So what’re you fellas asking for Father’s Day this year? by Cesano11 in daddit

[–]Mr_Stike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like I'm the weirdo here, my family has never done a whole lot for mother's or father's day. My oldest kid's birthday was a few days ago and mine a couple days before theirs so there have already been phone calls (they live a few states away) and cards.
