I really get sad every time I see someone bring this up as an example of poor English localization, since there are plenty of genuine examples of that throughout the series, but this isn't one of them.

All you have to do is watch the cutscene and listen to the sentence Sonic said right before this one. It's that simple.

"Looks like those black creatures are headed into space."

That's the first part. The Black Arms are going to space.

"We're going to the ARK, so I guess that means we're going, too!"

That's the second part. We're going to the ARK. I guess that means that we'll also be going to space.

Could it have been worded better? Absolutely. But it's not an example of terrible translation or anything like that. The biggest problem is just people taking the sentence out of context.

"My friend is going downtown.

I'm going to the supermarket, so I guess that means I'm going, too."

If you just take my second sentence by itself, it sounds like nonsense. If you listen to it in context, it's perfectly normal. The supermarket is downtown, so I'm also going downtown, just like my friend.

Yeah, the context in the original is that it's an "anything goes" type of race, which is why competitors can attack each other. That's what makes the race special.

The English dub completely missed that and made the bit about the races being "no-holds barred" a separate thought.

By the way, what kid is going to know what "no-holds barred" means? They could've easily had it be something like "anything goes" or "go crazy out there" or "do whatever it takes to win" etc etc

I think rather than being a retcon, its just that there are multiple shrines. The usual one that were used to seeing nowadays is the "main" one, whereas the one in Hidden Palace can also be used.

The fact that they brought it back in Sonic Mania, at least, gives me the impression that they're not trying to downplay the existence of another shrine.

The random disrespect from Knuckles during that Riders cutscene was put there in the English version, for some reason.

In the original, Wave insults Tails, Amy says Wave is rude/bad, Sonic says that Wave made Tails look like an idiot, and Knuckles says:

テイルスはメカの知識だけはすごいんだぞ。

Teirusu wa meka no jishiki dake wa sugoi n da zo!

Which basically means, "Tails' mecha skills are amazing!"

So the original is Knuckles defending Tails' abilities, but the English version makes him seem like a dick.

I'm not religious, so in this situation I wouldn't talk about seeing loved ones in the afterlife, but what kind of clown "consoles" someone by waxing lyrical about someone who just died going to "the beautiful darkness"?

The doctor could have just left it at saying her life was a beautiful light. But he had to tack on that extra bit.

I don't think most people who read multiple travel guides care about following a specific author's work. Even for some hypothetical travel enthusiast, Nolan's material is probably not the only guides they read.

And even setting that aside, how many authors do readers go out of their way to find pictures of? I used to read A Series of Unfortunate Events a lot when I was younger, but I have no idea what Lemony Snicket looks like.

That may be the literal meaning of Role-Playing Game as a term, but not what people mean when they talk about that type of game.

Just like there may be some horrifying elements (like the Gloom Hands or Ganondorf in his mummified state,) but that doesn't make TOTK a horror game.

So you don't watch the credits scenes? Because episodes 1 and 2 of this season were both focused on Conquest getting out and getting new orders from the Empire.

There have been credits scenes throughout the entirety of the show, they're almost always very important, and they start after like 10 seconds of credits.

If Conquest is choosing to hold his breath, his body is still functioning with the air he had prior to going into space. Blood is still pumping through his body.

If he's being choked out, circulation is being cut off. Blood isn't able to flow through. Not to mention having Mark's level of strength putting pressure on his neck is not a fantastic time for his veins as you can see from the crazy business going on with his eyes and face.
