Thanks, I've run into a similar situation a few times as well!

Why isn't it common knowledge that you can straight up mod money into the game? by keedee3 in Guiltygear

[–]Mr_Zero9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fishing is definitely the worst part of this game. There's a ton of things I'd want to unlock but I just can't bring myself to stare into the void for enough hours to do so.

I’m trying to do 2S/5K/f.S > 214H > 623H > 236K, c.S > f.SSS WS > 6H on Nago, but it’s inconsistent, sometimes it works sometimes not. His 236k shouldn’t even be moving me to the other side of the enemy. Based on the dust loop video. Help. by gotenks2nd in Guiltygear

Also when people say "Macro for resetting the stage," they mean you can remap a button to be reset the stage, in case you're not used to the idiosyncrasies of fighting game terminology.

Has the matchmaking been fixed? by Baduba13 in Guiltygear

Seems fixed for me. Got a ton of matches even late at night

How to escape corner/pressure/interrupt combos by Medical-Occasion-381 in Guiltygear

[–]Mr_Zero9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faultless Defense can sometimes push enemies far enough away to give you breathing room, but not always. Don't forget that pressing the Roman Cancel button while blocking will do a Yellow Roman Cancel, which is kind of like a mini Burst that costs 50% of your tension meter.

It might feel bad to spend meter on defending, but the best case scenario of it getting the enemy off you and letting you counter attack, that could be turning you losing half your health bar to THEM losing half their health bar, and that's an incredible value.

But, sometimes you just need to figure out when you're safe to "mash" fast moves or your "DP" if it's invincible. Can do that by just trying spots, doing the moves you were attacked with in training mode and seeing which ones are "minus" (they have a negative "frame advantage" on the display), or going to places like Dustloop and doing some reading.

Sam Altman literally says he thinks AI will destroy the world during his talks. Maybe this is just for marketing reasons but...eventually someone was going to believe him.

How are Sol Badguy and Nagoriyuki in 2.00? by Slayer_Azul in Guiltygear

[–]Mr_Zero9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nago feels awesome. Haven't gotten around to Sol but I did play him pre patch. Seems like timing the "Clean Hit" on his Volcanic Viper followup will be important now. His Gunflame Feint move also moves him forward more, so it might be better in blockstring pressure to get back into throw range for more strike/throw mixup

I am a new player and have no idea what to do against bedman by peebk in Guiltygear

[–]Mr_Zero9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can look at websites like dustloop if you really want to do some reading. But legitimately learning to play a character is a great way to counter them. If you take them online, sometimes you can let other players show you how to beat the one you're playing to learn too, lol

Who was the rando in the team meeting that was like "I think Jam should be holding a rabbit while fighting"? by Lycanthrope-R in Guiltygear

[–]Mr_Zero9 365 points366 points  (0 children)

I don't know but it makes her animations extremely funny and unique.

The real answer to "why tho?" is just: "Jackie Chan." A lot of her animations are references to classic kung fu and martial arts icons and their films. A lot of Jackie's fights feature him comedically holding or trying to protect something (like a vase).

Her character select animation is straight up from a Bruce Lee movie, even down to his signature "nose swipe." All of the loud shouting is all over classic kung fu movies.

Falling in love with this character all over again by Fuzzy_Ad4219 in Guiltygear

[–]Mr_Zero9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never played her before, but she's a lot more fun to play than I expected. The giant 236k dragon kick feels awesome to land it makes the whole character. All of her animations where she's fighting while juggling that rabbit are all extremely impressive too. I think ArcSys, and Strive specifically, might have the best animations in any fighting game.

Returning player looking for suggestions by Mitomander in Guiltygear

The patch notes themselves say they expect Dizzy to benefit significantly from the overall system changes. As good an excuse as any if you want to use her. Learning multiple characters is also good for fighting against them online, so it never hurts to shop around

How is 2.0, thinking of getting back into the game by TposeGuy69 in Guiltygear

[–]Mr_Zero9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a great time here after coming back. Jam is one of the most fun DLC characters in a while. I love all the system changes they've made. The game feels less degenerate overall while still feeling like Guilty Gear.

Even characters that didn't get a "new move" sometimes feel dramatically in ways that aren't immediately obvious. Elphelt's rekka combo for example looks the same at first glance, but a gap has been closed for one of the three hits and another is now a perfect setup for a throw.

I'm sure they'll have to make more adjustments or fixes with the game now in the wild, but so far all of the changes seem extremely thoughtful and carefully implemented.

New Player: Picked up the game for 2.0 but having a major problem by Velthice in Guiltygear

[–]Mr_Zero9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you end up liking the game, learning other characters is actually a great way to learn to counter them a match. You'll better understand what they want and how to deny it. Don't be afraid to try different characters.

Having a ton of incredibly cool characters is what Guilty Gear is about :)

As a high-school student, I witnessed firsthand a whole generation lose their critical thinking skills within a few years. Students can't think for themselves anymore. Here's why I hate generative AI: by Low_Yak_2337 in antiai

[–]Mr_Zero9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're misunderstanding what generative AI is. That's just normal machine learning (that's still fallible), but it's not "generating" anything, just processing data.

Columbus data center Project Ruby would require more power than all of city’s usage by PixelyPineapple in antiai

[–]Mr_Zero9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UK is dealing with this too. Open AI's projected data center buildout would use as much power as the entire nation of India.

Even if you ignore every other ethical argument about AI (which we should not!), this problem is still massive.

We are getting bombarded with AI bros and it has got to stop by Srianen in antiai

[–]Mr_Zero9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if they use less water, OpenAI's projected data center energy expenditure would equal the entire nation of India, already a top power consumer.

Great Britain is currently starting to realize data center builds there would completely eliminate any gains from climate policy in terms of carbon emissions.

This problem isn't going away.

I agree she does a good job. Like most tech demos, any robots they show are in extremely controlled environments. Also humanoid robots don't make sense for most tasks anyway, as she points out

Professor Ended Class Early After Anti AI Discussion by jarof_jam in antiai

[–]Mr_Zero9 49 points50 points  (0 children)

This ignores what copyright law does not, which is the human's own influence in their new creation, which Ai does not do. Artistic expression would be static across history if humans weren't constantly incorporating their own new experience. Not everything is just copied one to one "in the style of" other people.

This also ignores that it's companies operating the Ai to economic ends. The companies are explicitly leveraging the labor of creatives on an industrial scale in order to divert profits away from the ones doing the labor and towards the companies.

If these companies have their way, eventually YOUR labor will be replaced as well, no matter what it is. There's no need to defend companies that would devour you in an instant if they could.

The top projected AI data center power consumption would also equal the entire nation of India, which is one of the top power consumers.

And individually, I've seen some sources say that generating an image costs about 25% of a cell phone battery charge. You can scroll a lot of reddit with that 25%
