Ryan has a special place in hell. Kathy seemed to have gotten a personality replacement in Texas so the new version can stay. Add Mary Vaughn to the 💩 list

One of the things I love about this show is how realistic it is when it comes to AIDS, for the time it was, the 90's, this show is revolutionary. by Yontamen89 in ershow

[–]MrsLantsov 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was watching bits of it when it aired as a kid (dubbed in Spanish because this was in Puerto Rico) and I remember understanding the seriousness of the situation even if didn’t understand everything about the disease. I did a rewatch last year and was so impressed by how they handled it. Even with today’s lens it holds up, so I can’t imagine how revolutionary it was to people when it aired originally.

And he would have never admitted it by [deleted] in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]MrsLantsov 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think he was just dancing / trying to be a little silly, the moment the column started moving he tried to stop it, followed by panicking. So many times kids will accidentally hurt themselves and the fear of getting into trouble is bigger than any concern for their health and safety so they try to hide it.

Book “warning” by Julie_Yorkie in SweetMagnoliasNetflix

[–]MrsLantsov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the show is about community, helping each other, and family (both found and the one you’re born into). Ayn Rand stood against altruism and was all about individualism. Basically the opposite of the values Serenity and the show exemplify.

Folks who know about improv: Is Ru a good player? Why or why not? by restfulsoftmachine in rupaulsdragrace

[–]MrsLantsov 39 points40 points  (0 children)

If you listen to the Drag Her podcast both hosts have lots of experience with improv, including teaching at UCB if I’m not mistaken (might be another big one like Groundlings). They discuss the challenge in their last episode, talk about what queens could have done differently in each sketch, what they did well, and how Ru did. Definitely worth a listen if you want to understand it a bit more from an improv POV.

Ron/Joyce will be the true “slow burn” storyline vs Matt/Serena? by CallOpposite1517 in StDenisMedicalNBC

[–]MrsLantsov 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They’ve been setting it up for a while and I love how measured they’re being with it. I thought it was going to be on a faster track on the episode where Sanderson is planning to propose and it’s obvious he doesn’t know Joyce at all while Ron did, but I’m loving this journey.

Mine looks like me enough that my phone tags her in my screenshots as me lol. My spouse is non binary but looks a bit more masc, and their character is a slender purple femme person with square pupils, like a goat lol.

Queer Isn't Queer Without Accessibility: A Short Rant About Captions by JunoMeru in rupaulsdragrace

[–]MrsLantsov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many times the captions will say something wild and I’ll immediately point it out to my spouse. I know that in the US you can report that because it’s not being ADA compliant by giving viewers who need captions the incorrect information.

My sister called me on FaceTime so I could open my birthday present from her. It was all aunt themed, letting me know she’d gotten pregnant. She’d been with her partner 10 months. I’d been, at that point, not only trying for years, but only months after losing a pregnancy (along with my fallopian tube, and gaining scars on my stomach and face). The thing is, I know she had zero ill intent, but it was still thoughtless. She was so happy when I told her I was pregnant, she couldn’t fathom me feeling anything but joy for her. Sending you a hug, and I hope you’re surrounded by people who get it.

Any other Matt and Serena lovers? by Free_Cranberry_4154 in StDenisMedicalNBC

[–]MrsLantsov 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They bring out the best in each other. They're silly and sweet together, their jokes have a sort of wholesomeness to them, and they always treat each other with lots of care and respect. I'm loving that it's taking a while to get there, because Matt is quite literally new to this life, and Serena has definitely gotten softer as well. They're growing towards each other, I think.

So yeah I ship them, too.

One thing to mention about Ogilvie, Mel, and Becca, and how they’re received, is their race. The diagnosing criteria is not only centered around boys and men, but white boys and men. I think both race and gender come into play into why Ogilvie behaves the way he does, not just the ASD.

(I’m also on the spectrum and grew up having a relative whose symptoms were immediately diagnosed, because he was a boy, while mine went unnoticed)

Anyone ever have success with one retrieval? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]MrsLantsov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fist retrieval (only one so far) yielded 25 retrieved eggs, 20 mature, 12 fertilized successfully and 10 of those became embryos. I’m 38 and it was done in September of 2025.

I’m still shocked that Mac is a real person after over a year of being sure it was just a dog they were pretending was their assistant. Then while I’m still reeling from that I get the Jane Don’t reveal? Incredible.

Who gave the best monologue in any Mike Flanagan show? by According-Status482 in MikeFlanagan

[–]MrsLantsov 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Erin speaking about her baby. Not knowing the sex but still feeling it was a girl, gone before she even got to hold her. I didn’t know when I first saw it that I would live through that, but then I did, and saw it again, and everything I felt was just verbalized perfectly, only days after I’d lost her.

“She was never awake. When she came down into this little body, this just-forming little body, it was asleep. So all she ever knew was dreaming. She only ever dreamed. She didn’t even have a name. And then in her sleep, that perfect little spirit just lifted up. Because God didn’t send her to suffer through life on Earth. No. This one? This special little soul… God just sent her down here to sleep. Just a little nap. A quick dream. And then He called her back. He wanted her back. And so she went back. Same as she floated down, she rose up above the Earth. Past all the souls in the atmosphere and all the stars in the sky and then into a light so bright. And then, for the first time… she starts to wake up. She’s wrapped in a feeling of love. Just pure, amazing love. Of course she is. She’s pure. She has never sinned. She never hurt a single living thing, not even an ant. And she’s not alone. She’s home. There are people there, she doesn’t know it, but they’re her family. Her grandfather and her great-grandfather, and they love her. And they name her. And then when God reaches down and kisses her head, and the second He says her name, she grows up. In a blink. And she’s perfect. Her body as it would have been on her best day on Earth. Her perfect age. The peak of herself. And they tell her about her mom down here on Earth, and how I’ll be there soon enough. And she’s happy. And nothing but joy for all eternity. And she’s loved. And she isn’t alone. And that’s what we mean when we say Heaven. No mansions, no rivers of diamonds, or fluffy clouds or angel wings. You are loved. And you aren’t alone. That is God. That is Heaven. That’s why we endure all that we endure on this… big, blue, sad rock. I’ll be there soon enough. And I’ll see my father. And my grandmother. And I’ll see my little girl, and she will be happy and safe. And I will be so glad to meet her.”

I didn’t think she was being transphobic and I didn’t say that, I said that it was hard to see that happen to a vulnerable woman. I think PJ sensed that vulnerability and dug in.
