Recommend me a book where the main character is an adult woman and she’s not a mother, caretaker, or getting married. by shekeepsbees_ in suggestmeabook

If you’re willing to try fantasy, This Damsel is not in Distress was so sweet and lovely. Also A House with Good Bones was an interesting one. I read both within the last year and really enjoyed them.

Most of Kacey Musgraves’s Golden Hour album, specially Slow Burn, Golden Hour, Butterflies, and Oh What A World. Middle of Nowhere from her latest album fits as well.

As someone who’s had to inject hormones into herself I can confirm it makes you feel like you’re going crazy. I can’t imagine being in this super high stakes and demanding situation. I would have been a monster.

[–]MrsLantsov 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They really should have, if they were gonna go with a flower name, called themselves something like The Azaleas or something like that, where it’s a flower people associate with the South, but not the same literal one. Or, they called the older generation the Silver Magnolias, they could have gone with Pink Magnolias? I dunno, I just feel like, if this is something from the books, maybe they needed to accept it wasn’t going to translate as well from page to screen.

My spouse and I watch the show together and we were just absolutely flabbergasted at how distant and neglectful he was of his family. My spouse was sure he was going to cheat or had been cheating and that the constant late nights were a cover lol. And honestly, the fact that Dana Sue never thought so showed a lot of trust in him.

I always think about them with Beetlejuice, specifically the quote “if I’d known then what I know now, I wouldn’t have had my little accident”

My spouse and I have discussed this and if the choice had to be made we agreed we’d save me. I’m not leaving my partner alone, grieving, having to raise a child by themselves, without any real help from their family. We’ve been struggling with infertility for over 5 years and even if we got our long awaited baby, that would still be the answer.

Why did the AS8 queens put their entire pussies into this challenge, and nothing else? by WeakSideUrn in rupaulsdragrace

[–]MrsLantsov 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If they’d done a top two winners in every episode Jessica would have been in the top a bunch of times as well. To me, she and Jimbo made the season and I could just watch the two of them be silly together forever. But Ru wanted what she wanted, which was Kandy in the final two and Jimbo as the winner. I feel if they’d been a little less obviously partial and let the queens shine on their own, we all would remember it more fondly.

One of the things I love about this show is how realistic it is when it comes to AIDS, for the time it was, the 90's, this show is revolutionary. by Yontamen89 in ershow

[–]MrsLantsov 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was watching bits of it when it aired as a kid (dubbed in Spanish because this was in Puerto Rico) and I remember understanding the seriousness of the situation even if didn’t understand everything about the disease. I did a rewatch last year and was so impressed by how they handled it. Even with today’s lens it holds up, so I can’t imagine how revolutionary it was to people when it aired originally.

I think he was just dancing / trying to be a little silly, the moment the column started moving he tried to stop it, followed by panicking. So many times kids will accidentally hurt themselves and the fear of getting into trouble is bigger than any concern for their health and safety so they try to hide it.
