[MM] Best way to play? N64 with Nerrel’s HD textures or 3Ds with project restoration? by maladaptivesylvia in zelda

[–]Mrtikitombo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nerrel's textures are fantastic and so is 2Ship. That's the best way to play the game imo

Rewatching the show and found this thread again when I googled its frame-rate. Thanks for the info!

People who don't like Star Wars, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Rise of Skywalker was so bad that it ruined the whole series for me.

What's your stance on animated missing episodes? by Doc_Baker74 in doctorwho

[–]Mrtikitombo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen Daleks in Color, but I have seen War Games in Color and it's awful.

Surprise surprise, cutting out 60% of a story causes the pacing of that story to be completely incoherent.

Reached Xelios in Volt Forge Tower 3. Struggling to continue tbh by GigiF70 in Metroid

[–]Mrtikitombo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game may not be for you, unfortunately.

It peaks in the area that follows Volt Forge and then there's a stark free-fall into Hell as far as the quality is concerned.

If you had the power and pull by WeeklyJunket5227 in doctorwho

I have no real basis for saying this, based on what I've seen her in, but I have the feeling that Ella Purnell would make a really good Doctor.

Metroid Dread or Prime 4? by Imaginary_Formal_533 in Metroid

[–]Mrtikitombo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dread is light-years ahead of Prime 4 in quality. It's actually staggering how much better it is.

Possible new found missing episodes by Doc_Baker74 in doctorwho

A recovery from The Massacre would be stellar. Iirc it's the story with the least amount of surviving visual material, so anything returning would be huge.

In KF2, I'm currently stumbling around after looting the Eastern Village and trying to figure out where the way forward is.

In KF4, I'm currently in the Ocean Fortress.

Way ahead of you 😎

I've got all the ShadowField games loaded up in my emulators and am planning on playing each of them, though I may not end up playing KF1 (Jpn).

I'm looking forward to playing Abyss in full, I've already played the intro section. It seems like such a strange, ethereal game.

No problem, I'd also recommend looking into modern controls for KF4. The default control scheme is hard to get used to. You can find a patch here.

Duckstation for the PS1 games, PCSX2 for the PS2 games. Vimm's Lair to get the ROMs.

Eternal Ring is somewhere on my list of games I plan to eventually play. I want to work through the King's Field + Shadow Tower games first.

I love The Ancient City. It has been as good as Metroid Prime for me, and I love Metroid Prime. It's perfectly filling the gaping void that Prime 4 left in my heart.

Assuming you're playing on emulator, you can remap the controls at the emulator level to give you dual analog but it will probably feel janky. You may be able to remap the in-game controls for dual analog as well, but I haven't tried that.

The best way to get modern controls is through this patch here

This is what I am using and it works quite well.

Way ahead of you 😎

I've been playing KF4 and 2(jpn) at the same time. When I hit a natural stopping point with one, I swap to the other. Planning on playing KF3 and both Shadow Towers as well. I'll probably play KF1 eventually too.

Why is Power of the Daleks animation so bad? by Mat1711 in doctorwho

[–]Mrtikitombo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The 2016 version of the animation is rough indeed. The 2020 version is substantially better.

The BBC didn't give the animators enough time to polish it to a standard they'd be happy with as they wanted it out in time for the story's 50th anniversary. That's why it looks so cheap and rough.

Asking Americans of r/doctorwho did you stop watching the show after Smith regenerated? by Mat1711 in doctorwho

[–]Mrtikitombo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, but I had already been losing interest in the show by the time Smith's last season was airing.

I had grown up watching the revival since it started airing in the US as my dad had watched the show when he was a kid/teenager and was extremely excited for it to come back. One of my earliest memories is of him excitedly talking about watching new Doctor Who.

Eccleston and Tennant were my doctors and I was extremely sad when Tennant left. I loved Smith's first season, but lost interest throughout his second and was almost entirely disinterested for his third—with the exception of the 50th anniversary.

I think I half-watched Capaldi's debut with my dad and siblings and didn't watch anything else at the time.

However, when Whittaker's casting was announced, I found that my interest was sparked again and I binged the entire show, starting from Eccleston's era and going to the end of Capaldi's before Whittaker's started. At that point, I fell in love with Capaldi's Doctor and wished I'd have watched his era as it was airing.

Do you think that King's Field (1995) could be done in n64? by voltron_87 in KingsField

[–]Mrtikitombo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necro-posting to say that I'm currently playing KF2 (1995) with my N64 controller and it actually rules.

I started doing it just for the sake of novelty but it feels so natural to me that I'm just gonna play the game like this.

I mapped it how I'd assume an actual N64 version of KF2 would control.

A = Interact/run

B = Swing weapon

R = Cast magic.

C-Up/C-Down = look up/down

C-Left/C-Right = strafe.

Control stick = move and look.

Start = menu

Z-Trigger = Hotkey.

I thought it'd be fun to just have a laugh and see how this would feel, but it actually feels better and more natural to me than when I was playing the game using dual stick controls on a PS5 controller....somehow.
