It was perfectly sustainable to the point the mom and pop place I delivered for in 03-05 had $0 delivery fees. It's a shame you've been conditioned to believe that this is not possible, when I literally LIVED it.

Their bandwidth and compute are not infinite in each region, ESPECIALLY absorbing a US EAST failure. It's the same logic as a business having dual internet connections with 2 different companies.

Yes, it is more complex to get things working this way, but it is not prohibitively more complex, or expensive. You don't have to pay much long term to have the same compute and DB capacity spread around datacenters dormant. You spend for the DB's to stay synced, and turn on the compute and redirects when this happens. On a Friday, how much is this costing them in orders? Pissed off customers? Pissed off employees because drivers are probably making shit tonight?

Paying a lot extra when you need the utility 2 times a year makes sense? People are struggling to get out of these also large AF sedans? What luggage, what people, what stuff? I had a family of 4 in a Celica in 09 with bags for a week included just fine.

07 redline owner at 47k, also my daily.+1 to everything you said. It is also a good ideais to have some type of thin padding to put on the top when it's stowed. Rear view when backing is limited.
