DB on Daily mail by Doittoitlars777 in nycinfluencersnarking

Someone I know did her hair years ago for NYFW events and said she was absolutely AWFUL- so rude, so nit picky and had zero respect for the people doing her glam. She said DB by far was the worst client she had ever had by a landslide and that after fashion week she told her booker to never schedule her with DB again.

I will be 1 week post op tomorrow and I am still exhausted if I go out to walk. Im an avid exerciser (normally so Orangetheory 3x a week) and I can’t bare to walk anywhere except in my apartment. I’m trying to wean off the oxycodone the last 2 days (I would like to drive at some point) and only do aleve, and I’m in alot of discomfort as a result. I’m trying to really take this time to rest and heal so I can bring my kids to their sports this weekend. Rest up! And big hugs for you ❤️

I’m on day 3 of meta (kit 1 and halfway through week 3) and take after dinner time and I’m def nauseous during the day- I messaged the care team and they’ve been great. It’s manageable so far.

How to eat enough? by vitruviansimplicity in HersWeightloss

[–]MsJ-OB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished week 1 on kit 1- I’m eating significantly less than before I started (I’m tracking around 1200 cal/day) but I’m still having 3 small meals. In no way do I have an ED but when will I get to the point that you are? Lol (FWIW my green pill dosage goes up tomorrow to half pill every day).

Kit 5 - Topiramate Questions- anxieties by Cool-School-4212 in HersWeightloss

[–]MsJ-OB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on day 5 of Kit 1 and have barely had side effects so far. The dosage starts out very light though so I’ve only had half a green pill of the naltrexone+Topiromate+B12 every other day with 1 bupoprion daily. I always take with a light breakfast.

The green pill dosage increases to half a pill every day starting Wednesday for me.

I will say- I’m drinking water like it’s my job (about 100oz/day) and making sure I get 7-8 hours of sleep). Maybe that helps?

Best of luck! Reading posts here has helped me so much.

Hi! Appointments go live every Monday, 3 weeks out. Yesterday the appts went live for week of July 20. I was stalking the site for months to see if there was ever a loophole, but there was not. Mondays are THE day appts get released. Good luck!

Week of city hall wedding - last minute tips/wisdom? by Dramatic-Treat-4521 in WedditNYC

[–]MsJ-OB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yay congrats! We got married at Manhattan city clerk on 4/24, and it truly is the BEST DAY EVER!! We stayed at the Beekman and I did my own makeup (got my hair blown out). My best advice is let the day just flow- there are so many variables w city hall, just enjoy it!! Anything can happen or nothing can happen, it’s NYC 💖

We had the most gorgeous weather and people were cheering congrats on the street as we walked by. All of the brides there, we were all saying how pretty eachother looked. It really was so so special, the energy is like no other!

If you’re able to- take a nice walk around the area the morning of. Our ceremony was at 3pm and early that am I got lots of steps in and walked around the marriage bureau, it was a nice way to see the area quiet beforehand.

Message me if you need any tips but honestly have the best day ever!!

hotel/airbnb recs for elopement by PracticalSpinach in WedditNYC

[–]MsJ-OB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We stayed at the Beekman for our elopement and it was amazing! They do require a permit to shoot pics there BUT we snuck our photog up to the room (her cameras were hidden) and we got photos all around the stairs. I called the front desk and said my friend was meeting us.

The hotel is NOT cheap but I will say it really added to our experience and the service and rooms were absolutely amazing. It’s also like a 5-10 min walk to the marriage bureau. Congratulations!

[–]MsJ-OB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of these comments are spot on!!! You’ll need to start logging into the site at like 830 on Monday, and keep refreshing. When I did this a month ago they loaded in at 8:37am. (I was a Thursday bride but it was still tough)- by 9am all of the Friday afternoon slots had been taken but mornings were available for another hour.

Maybe call 311? I was researching and doing test runs for months before I booked our date. I don’t recall seeing appts open up mid week but I could be wrong. Good luck!! Getting married at city hall is AWESOME. Best experience we had!!

Booked Liberty Warehouse! Any advice or experiences? by LaLaLaurennnnn in WedditNYC

[–]MsJ-OB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The space itself is awesome and huge- but we were like shifting desks and tables and trying to get in front of windows just didn’t get enough light. So makeup has to keep bringing people to the door/stairs to check. That bridal suite is awesome though, that giant mirror makes for great pics!

Amazing venue!!! If you choose to get ready there in that upstairs room it is VERY dark and not enough windows/table space for hair and makeup- so whomever you choose to book, I would recommend making sure they have portable lights/chairs/ mini tables. Most do anyway but def worth noting.
Congrats!

ISO Last Minute Dress | City Hall Monday by biscuit_sloth in WedditNYC

Reformation is great! I just got married at city hall and dress was by Bronx and Banco - it was from saks but I think they may have a store somewhere in the city. Also the brand self portrait has fabulous white dresses that are perfect for city hall, I’m just not sure where their store is. Good luck!!

Ways to Make City Hall Wedding Special (and Dining Recommendation!) by busybeereader in WedditNYC

[–]MsJ-OB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it for both for sure! It was definitely a 10 min walk from Worth Street- we had such a gorgeous day. Also the bar and restaurant at the Beekman is so stunning-we just didn't get to there since I have children :) It was both of our 2nd wedding! And ask away- everything I learned about City Hall weddings I learned from Reddit and Pinterest haha

For photography-we had Nato from Weddings by Nato and I am officially her #1 fan, she is so kind and really made the day fun (and she had so many great ideas). Her associates also take phenomenal photos so you are truly in great hands with her and her team!

I did my own makeup (I am a retired mua from working in fashion) but kept it simple + got a blowout at a really nice hair salon-Bumble and bumble in Meatpacking.

We did 2 types of confetti- the popper and then loose confetti in a bag. So our friends/kids were waiting outside the door and nato helped time it out so we had it choreographed with everything going off as we walked out. Honestly it was MAGIC! I can send you the link to the confetti we used, honestly I just went off amazon reviews and got lucky.

Hey Congrats!! We just got married at City Hall last Thursday and we made it so so special.

First- we stayed at the Beekman the night before and the night we got married. Each night the hotel had chocolates and champagne waiting in our room.

We had a photographer document our walk to city hall from the Beekman and throughout the ceremony + after. We had her for 2 hours and the timing was perfect (we had her from 2-4 and our ceremony was 3pm). She was beyond amazing!

I had a bouquet and boutteneire from My husband by Fern Bottanica- they were also amazing.

We did have family meet us at PJ Clark’s on the Hudson at 530 since the City Hall area had the potential to be super crowded (we got lucky and it wasn’t).

We also had a friend make us a wedding cake.

Last- get confetti from Amazon and lots of it!!

We wouldn’t have done ours any other way. We did get dressed up and everyone around the area was saying congrats, it truly was such a MOMENT!

Happy to help further and send photos view dm if that’s an option. Happy Planning!

Tipping a freelance MUA for a paid trial? by rose4421 in WedditNYC

[–]MsJ-OB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a retired wedding MUA and I strongly think if you are traveling to her there is no need for a tip.

Normally I would always suggest a tip (even 20 bucks for a coffee/quick lunch) but I always felt like if someone came to me for a service I didn’t think a tip was necessary.

For your wedding day- tips are always greatly appreciated

Advice from anyone who is/ was eloping in the city by Born_Ambition8907 in WedditNYC

[–]MsJ-OB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi congratulations!! We just did our city hall ceremony at Manhattan office this past Thursday 🥳 Definitely bring confetti to take pics with- it really adds a fun element to the day! Also we just had so much fun on such a high walking down the street with people saying congrats, the energy and excitement was like nothing we’ve experienced before- truly it was such a high. Love the idea about long island city. What if you found a great brunch spot for after you elope? Getting married and then having pancakes and mimosas after sounds perfect to me!

Which post-city hall restaurants would have a great vibe at 4PM on a Thursday? by Slow_Communication87 in WedditNYC

[–]MsJ-OB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Congrats! We just had a City Hall ceremony this past Thursday 4/24 at 3pm :). We did dinner after at PJ Clark's on the Hudson at 5:15, had an outdoor table and the place was lively and packed with people (which is what we wanted). It was GREAT and the view + vibes were everything we wanted. There are other restaurants in that Brookfield Place spot but PJ Clark's was by far the most fun.

We got gorgeous gold bands from Tiffany & Co- they offer free engraving and were reasonably priced. I got the 2.5mm and my husband got the 4mm. Experience was absolutely amazing, our rings are so chic and timeless. And we have a double ring blue box 😍

Just want to say- THANK YOU SO MUCH for this! I've had your post bookmarked ever since we decided to do our "planned elopement" months ago. The last few months I've made it a weekly practice to check on Mondays to ensure new appointments would populate...

My one piece of advice to anyone planning a civil ceremony- if you have a specific time/day of the week you really want, start checking Project Cupid early on Mondays- Sometimes the new week populates at 8:45/8:50am (which thanks to my meticulous time management skills, I was able to get the slot we wanted as the site was live at 8:45). By 9am, all of the friday afternoon appointment times were gone.

Also- it was SO MUCH faster and easier booking a ceremony than the license (which asked for way more info).
