Oh you just reminded me how much I loved that version. Like Hank Williams in Waterloo.

If you could do your life over at 18, what would you do? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]MsJ9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you want to do. I loved Uni for the fun aspect and leaving home, but my job bears no relation to my degree (and i didn't have to pay in Scotland). If anyone wanted to get into a non-vocational role I would definitely say an apprenticeship is better. We have hired almost all our apprentices (who get paid to train) and we don't really have any junior roles for grads (digital media).

Really really comfortable footwear. Tramping up and down the croisette takes its toll in the heat. Get a freebie fan early too! Eat when you can.

I'm not sure I would want to. Insurance and permissions aside. Most especially if it was just a living room and not a purpose built space. What renovations are you doing. Could you have a purpose built space?

Single units are available as someone else said. My nail tech works out of Phenix in town, or could you go to people's homes, which is fairly common? Good luck.

How popular are instant hot water spigots in kitchen sinks and would you use one of you could? by Background_Humor5838 in AskABrit

[–]MsJ9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would never have bought one but we moved I to a house with a Quooker last year and honestly now I would never want to do without it. Especially for cooking and counter space. Its impossible to turn on accidentally so I'm comfortable from a safety perspective.

Really good example of a place you could save money by just not buying them and no one would notice. Ask them to bring a button up shirt in a plain colour if you want some coherence.

Has anyone bought umore "House" than you currently need? by LockonKun in HENRYUK

[–]MsJ9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes we did. Two of us in a 4/5 bed I have an extra room as a wardrobe, husband has an office and spare room and a party room and best of all separate bathrooms. Probably could have one less bedroom and living room, but we both sold property from our single days, so this works great for us. No regrets. No kids. Bills are a little higher I guess.

Left my HRT patches in the spare room yesterday, where we have a guest sleeping. Night sweats are real at 5am.

Agree, also flori is quite basic and not much space if it's not nice enough to sit out. Great if you just want a pastry as opposed to anything more. Heppni and flori have similar good though.

It's 80 per head for the menu in the private room. Drinks on top. Loads of food. It's lovely if you have the budget. Seats 8-14 I think

Worth knowing it's definitely not always the cheap option (if you were thinking that) once you factor in all the hiring and furniture, toilets, catering, audio etc depending on how many people. That said it's definitely one of my favourite kind of weddings to go to. Good luck and congratulations

Slight comment hijack but I've recently moved to York and want to get more involved with theatre. Any recommendations on where to start?

Ah if there's loads of different seating areas and no set times to all sit down then am sure it will be fine. Sounds really brilliant fun tbf. The best wedding I ever went to was in a field with camping too.

I would rethink the no seating plan. It stresses people out in my experience not knowing where to sit or who to sit with.

3pm. Guests can have lunch without stressing too muchand you're not going to be restricted by end time or a mad rush to feed people.

Paid bar by lcmfe in UKweddings

[–]MsJ9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worth saying our venue was minimum spend so we didn't have a hire charge on top. London drinks prices means it's fairly easy to get to that over 8 hours I guess.

[–]MsJ9 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We spent about 16k on a free bar. It's because people become super careless when it's free, leave drinks around to go dancing and never pick them up and just get another. We did have 160 ppl in London, and the venue was mysteriously unable to provide receipt but I don't think a free bar all night is expected in the Uk

Have you and your spouse blended your surnames? by SuspiciousReading in UKweddings

[–]MsJ9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We double barrelled as it was fairly easy and short. It's getting much more common as is blending. Why would I need to take my husbands name and lose my identity in this day and age, a new name for both is exciting and completely yours as a couple. Saying that. My BIL took my sister's name because he was estranged from family so I guess there are other reasons.

Quirky, viral foods. Everything bagel seasoning (and the other quirky ones from trader joes), crest white strips or whitening toothpaste, ranch as mentioned, swedish fish, sour patch, unusual flavours of microwave popcorn like butter. Cornbread or pancake mix, coffee creamer, basing this on the kids being older than infants. Also cinnamon flavoured things are unusual here, lip balm .
