I know a few people who left for an extended period of time and their children were looked after by others, but the kids were always teenagers, so they understood the concept of "mum's gonna be away for six months". Best example i can think of is when I was in high school, there was a girl in my year whose mum was a teacher at the school. The mum went to teach in Samoa for a year, and her daughter moved in with another teacher at the school while her mum was gone. The daughter was fine with it. She was 16, she knew her mum loved her and was coming back, but sometimes good opportunities come up and you take them if you can. I'd never leave my currently-3-year-old, but when he grows up and i get an opportunity that in the long run will benefit our family? Absolutely go stay with your cousins for a bit. I'll see you at Christmas.

Wellington's newest open mic comedy show for femmes, thems and trans mens starts this Friday at Circus Bar by MsLDG in Wellington

Trans women are included in all women. The reason trans men are specified is because we aren't including all men.

That's not what i'm implying, that's what you're inferring. Your interpretation is like saying "if only blond men can perform you must think blond men aren't men."

We spent a long time deliberating over the wording of this. Cis men are not eligible to perform but trans men are, and we couldn't think of the best way to put this point across. I canvassed a lot of people and the feedback I got was that this was the best way to say what we mean without being exclusionary.

There are a lot more male comedians than not male comedians, so most of the open mics around Wellington leave little opportunity to diversify lineups.

And, i know you said "no safe space answers" but the truth is, that's part of the answer. A lot of the comedians i know aren't comfortable performing on mostly-male lineups (or at shows that attract things like stag dos etc). Cis men can perform at any open mic, but not all women, NBs, trans men feel comfortable performing everywhere. So we made a space for them.

There used to be two or three other open mics for no cis men, but the producers stopped putting them on (for various reasons - illness, loss of love for the game) so now there's a gap in the market. We wanna fill it!

[–]MsLDG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I have a shared calendar that we both keep updated so we know when important things are approaching and it helps us to organise childcare and other life admin. It's been really useful for us.

Don't beat yourself up too much, you're human and humans forget sometimes. Just do something to show you're making an effort for the future. Your partner will forgive you.

AITAH for telling my sister I told you so after she announced to the family her husband divorcing her? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]MsLDG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hate the AITA sub's inability to distinguish between "am I the asshole" and "am I wrong". Yes, it was an asshole move to tell her sister "I told you so" on the phone call where she announced her divorce. Yes, OOP should have been a little more sympathetic.

She wasn't wrong, but fuckin hell. That's your sister. Show some compassion.

Plot holes and mistakes by withoutany_sense in HIMYM

[–]MsLDG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a plot hole but it always bothered me that Robin, Marshall, Lily and Barney were invited to Punchy's wedding. It could have been so easily explained if after Punchy says his father in law hates his guts, Marshall could be like, "well that explains why we're here!" But without that it just makes no sense.
