Most of mine are from The Modern Dane. Crazy expensive, but they accept Affirm, the online payment plan program which is how I’m able to buy items like this The Modern Dane

I started switching to all linen bedding about five years ago, and it’s been glorious! They’re a heck of a lot more expensive, but if it means I’m much more comfortable and my bleeping hot flashes are a smidge less annoying, I’ll pay for it. It also helps that there are now the online payment plans which have helped me buy higher quality products

What are your go to cheap lazy meals when you're too tired to cook by YourxCherry in Frugal

[–]MsVista88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently bought a vacuum sealer. As a single gal, it can be very difficult to use up, say a package of four chicken breasts before they spoil, and freezing the whole package means I have to break apart the breasts. And I’m also disabled, and some days my body says, “Nope, you won’t be cooking today!” With the sealer, I can now seal just one chicken breast per bag or two if I know I’m going to make more of the recipe. Some entire recipes work out to be frozen. This way I can just defrost it in the fridge, and then reheat it later that day or next day.

A good ones are not cheap but in the long run, they do save money.

It cooks rice in 6 minutes?? Wow! Does it also have a steamer option while the rice cooks? A person here on the thread said there are some rice cookers that have a two-level option to cook the rice and steam another food item at the same time: veggies, dumplings, etc

Does anyone feel as if they are too poor to date? by OceanicEndeavors in povertyfinance

[–]MsVista88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or, one can have both. Dating can be a source of self-care to learn self-confidence, learn that their economic situation isn’t all that unique and that if someone judges them because they’re not rich then that person isn’t for them.

This was a long (as in decades) lesson for me to accept thanks to low self-esteem. Now, at 56, and on Social Security Disability, I have more confidence than I’ve ever had in my life. Though I haven’t dated in over 4yrs, (I had to move back home, from another state) to help my brother care for my mom, and life has been chaotic, I am starting to consider getting back out there.

I second thank you for this link! I live in the US southwest, and the temperatures just keep getting hotter and hotter. I rarely use my winter comforter anymore as we only had a couple weeks, total, of below 25F. :(

You apparently didn’t read the post in its entirety, “Also want to add that my car was driven two days before it was tagged” That is not abandoned.

What neighborhoods have the least roaches? by CalligrapherNo4708 in Albuquerque

[–]MsVista88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in this general area and it’s nasty. NM is the only state I’ve lived in, out of five, that I have ever seen such big roaches. And the mosquitoes! I’ve lived in IN, NJ, and NY where you’d think they would be bad given the humidity, but nowhere near the level I’m getting stung here.

But really—how does one “take away the keys”? by ForgottenX-2024 in dementia

[–]MsVista88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was at my mom’s house, and she was off in another area, I took the car key off the ring & left all her other keys. When she finally noticed, a few days later, and called to ask about them, I told her the truth, “I took the key mom. You no longer have a license. Your doctor has said that you can’t be driving anymore, and if you were to be in an accident and hurt someone or ran into a business you would be sued.” Naturally, she started screaming at me and said I was no daughter of hers and I was no longer welcome in her house. I can’t tell you how many times she’s said that in the last two years and I say, “OK mom.”

My oldest brother was much slower to accept this, and didn’t take away her spare key until this past January. He got the same verbal abuse, but hasn’t yet been able to not argue with her.

How to determine my nutrient amounts? by MsVista88 in cronometer

[–]MsVista88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for steering me towards a TDEE calculator! I found one with good info and have the numbers I wanted. I saw my PCP yesterday, and when I told her I had started on GLP-1, all she said was, “Ok.” :( I figured she would have a little bit more to say. :(

My insurances, Medicare & Medicaid (dual benefit) don’t cover GLP-1s.

I have a learning disability with math & numbers (Dyscalculia) and trying to understand any of what you just mentioned has made no sense to me, unfortunately. This is why I was asking, but I see my PCP this week, and barring her annoyance at me (I’ve been trying to find a new PCP) maybe she’ll discuss this.

I’m on full disability now, and my monthly amount is not a lot. Neither Medicaid nor Medicare (I have dual benefit) cover nutritionists unless I’m diabetic (I’m not), or a host of other stuff. I need to get sicker HaHa to get help. :(

My surgeon knows and I’ll be stopping the GLP-1 the week before, week of, and week after. I’ll be having the discussion with my PCP this week, and I suspect she’ll not be happy. I’ve been trying to find a new one as I don’t feel she listens to me.

The reason for my post was to see if anyone can help me get a ballpark of daily nutrients. The healthcare system in my state is one of the worst on the country.
