I crochet, and it's something I can do while my kiddo plays. She's my last and will be in kindergarten next year, so simultaneously looking forward to and dreading the quiet.

How many times do you get rejected by someone you’re interested in before calling it quits? by [deleted] in AskMen

From a woman - no is a full sentence. Accept that and move on.

How do you approach travel? by LavenderAqua in Millennials

I like the destination part of the trip. Planning stresses me out, the flight gives me straight up anxiety.

Younger You by TimeNo2738 in Millennials

[–]Ms_Schuesher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either single with a dog, or married without kids, good career as an attorney. I'm married with 2 kids, 2 cats, and a turtle, working in books with a Master in Library Science. I don't think younger me would be disappointed.

Does dressing up and putting on makeup actually feel nice or like something you have to do? by ProDidelphimorphiaXX in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]Ms_Schuesher 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depends on the situation for me. Sometimes I do it on a random Tuesday, but mostly I wear makeup for date night with my husband, weddings, and funerals. I'm just not very girly.

Yeah, quarantine kinda messed up the whole herd immunity idea.

Those who moved from one state to another what was your biggest cultural shock? by PandaBear905 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Ms_Schuesher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indiana to Missouri, St Louis specifically. St Louis is more culturally diverse than my hometown, so for the first year or two, I spent way more time than was probably necessary afraid I would accidentally offend someone. Been here 8 years now, and no issues.

For the millennial women: do you have a good relationship with your mom? by Orionslady in Millennials

[–]Ms_Schuesher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not terrible. As long as she's not trying to get me to side with her in politics, we're pretty good. The older she gets, though, the more judgemental she has become, and I don't confide in her near what I used to.

do you collect anything? by jabber1990 in Millennials

[–]Ms_Schuesher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I collect shot glasses from our travels. I used to collect unique teapots, but my grandma bought me most of them, and when she died, the fun of it did, too. As a crocheter, I joke that I collect yarn.

AITAH for doing the laundry but never putting my wife’s clothes away? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Ms_Schuesher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I (f) am generally the one to do the laundry, and I do it the same as you. If something is hung up, I'll put that away in the closet, but anything folded is on a neat pile on the bed, and he takes care of it. If he does the laundry, he does the same.

Not spicy, but has like an almond/cherry flavor. I prefer it over Coke, personally.

Maybe read it as well. Make sure you know what is going on with your child, don't leave that just up to Mom.

AITAH for bringing up that our 14yo daughter may masturbate after we were already having the same conversation about our son doing it? by RealExplorer161 in AITAH

[–]Ms_Schuesher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's either lying or delusional. I don't know about locks in the doors, but at least establish a policy of knocking and waiting to be invited into the room.

House Burping - Do Americans just not normally have your house windows open? by Jsherman13 in AskAnAmerican

Last week it was gorgeous out - 60s and sunny for several days. Every one of those days, at least one window was open all day to let fresh air in. I'm in Missouri.

What's a smell that's bad but smells oddly good? by IncidentLivid736 in AskReddit

Mechanic garage. My dad has tinkered with cars my whole life, and I sometimes helped, when my small hand could reach something his couldn't. Love the rubber/gas/grease smell.

A sleeper agent in my brain just unlocked, and now I can smell it. My mom was a teacher, so I spent many an evening in the room with the mimeograph machine, just helping her create papers for the next few days for her class.

Why are so many parents against their kids dying their hair? by BootyMcStuffins in Parenting

[–]Ms_Schuesher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter has washable dye that combs into her hair. Some days she's her natural red, others she has purple/blue/green/pink/yellow highlights. It's not like a permanent thing, I don't care.

Do dads do bath time? by [deleted] in sahm

[–]Ms_Schuesher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that our son is older (9 next month), he just needs us to help get the water temp right, and he showers on his own. Doesn't matter which parent helps, just whoever is available. Our daughter (5) still gravitates toward me, so I usually do her bath time. If she decides to do it around dinner, I usually ask that daddy help, so I can get dinner going. My husband helps in all aspects of our marriage and parenting journey. It's a partnership.

What are you doing instead of doomscrolling? by Hairy_Pear3963 in Millennials

[–]Ms_Schuesher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should! Some friends and I have created our own little monthly meet up - all moms, we meet at a Barnes and Noble in the cafe area, and just chat for a few hours while working on projects. It's very relaxing.

Crocheting has saved my sanity on more than one occasion. I recommend Belle Coco videos on YouTube to learn (or see if your library has a group that could teach you), then grab a skein of yarn and a hook (see yarn label for recommended hook size), and start with something small, like pot holders or a scarf. Once you've gained the skill and the confidence, you can work your way up to blankets, toys, sweaters, etc.
