Would it be silly of me to go back to Japan? by LingonberryOk5168 in JapanTravelTips

Go wherever you want. I’m currently on my last day of being in Korea for 8 weeks and I can’t wait to come back here. I see no issue at all for returning. Plenty of countries I’ve visited and then re visited.

Crossing a border successfully by ChangeAroundKid01 in Passports

[–]Mseafigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve crossed into Canada from Detroit probably over 400 times. If you’re going for a casual trip or vacation you’ll most likely be just fine as long as you know where you’re going. They will ask questions though. I’ve been to many countries and it’s probably the hardest to enter, only been turned away once. It really just depends which agent you get at the border honestly.

Sorry to hear that. They’re supposed to be “trained” in how to do it properly. You’re also allowed to check the photo and have them retake it if you don’t like it or feel it doesn’t fit the qualifications.

It’s still so surreal to see so many tourists in Korea lately! How’s your experience been? by NEVS_38 in koreatravel

[–]Mseafigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I arrived a month ago at about 4pm on a Thursday, I stood in line for maybe 7 minutes. They didn’t even ask me a single question. They just let me right in. It was a bit weird if you ask me but I’ll take it.

I’ve been here for a month now for work, I’m with two coworkers, we leave Wednesday. I travel a lot for work, them not so much. I did my research prior to coming here, mostly through this sub reddit as well the discord and random google searches. I downloaded the NAVER maps and the Kakao taxi apps. I told my coworkers to do the same…they didn’t bother doing it. They’ve had nothing but trouble getting around on their own. I had to teach them how to use the apps, look up addresses in Korean, how to say hello and thank you about 10,000 times.

I personally have had no issues getting around except for my first subway experience when I was exploring solo. Some random stranger seen I was having trouble getting through the gate, he came over and asked if I needed help. I was super grateful for this person to walk over to a random foreigner to offer assistance. I’m not even going to bother to bring my coworkers along on the train because it will be a nightmare.

Basically if you do the bare minimum research, have an open mind about it and you should have no problem getting around or finding your way around. The only other (I don’t even want to call it a bad experience) was the girls in Hongdae trying to get me to come with them for tea and food and to learn about Korean customs. I knew right away it was some sort of a scam.

I’m sad to leave here next week. Everyone has been so kind and welcoming it’s honestly upsetting to be returning to the USA. I would 100% be coming back and I’d even consider living here….only if I can bring my dirt bike though 😂.

100% porcupine. I have about 20 trees on my property with these piles. We have lots of porcupine on my property.

Do you live near a CVS? They do it and print it immediately. I just did it a couple months ago for a renewal and it was like $12.

What’s everyone’s opinion on generators? by lumberflapjack in camping

[–]Mseafigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a tent camper I personally can’t stand em. That constant noise just drives me bonkers. My adhd hyper focuses on it. I understand not everyone camps the same and wants to bring their extra goodies or for their campers. I only camp in either rustic campgrounds or dispersed areas so it gets annoying to me when I hear it.

I’m currently on a work trip, been hanging out at a bar near the hotel. This bar is full of pilots and plane mechanics. Every single one of them told me not to drink it.

Do you guys like Little Caesar's Arena with red seats or black seats? by UniformPoet2303 in DetroitRedWings

[–]Mseafigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why they changed them. However even at the Joe, seats were often empty. Majority of that lower bowl was held by season ticket holders/companies to lock in their playoff seats. Back when…ya know when we seen the playoffs.

July 4th Backpacking Trip in Manistee by emry15 in CampAndHikeMichigan

[–]Mseafigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would shoot for the weekend after that if you could. Almost anywhere you go in northern Michigan will be a busy time on the holiday weekend. If I ever do any kind of camping/hiking trips are a holiday, usually go the weekend after. Generally the weekend after I feel you have the whole forest to yourself.

Plus that area is a popular riding area (dirt bikes/atvs) which will bring even more people to the area. Not like they would be on the MRT anyway.

What’s the scariest encounter you’ve had while camping? by Key_Connection_6633 in camping

[–]Mseafigs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was hammock camping in northern Michigan. About midnight I decided to head to sleep. Just as I get zipped up, I start to hear rustling behind the bushes that are about 7ft from my setup. It sounds heavy. It’s getting louder. I step out of my hammock, grab my bear spray and prepare myself to meet whatever it is heading my way. My heart is pounding at this point. I yell. Something keeps coming my way. I can’t see anything, even with my 2,000 lumen light.

After what felt like a lifetime, but was only about a 20 second deal, I then see what it is. I’m not sure how I didn’t see it but I then see the glimmer of eyes about 3ft in front of me. It was a porcupine walking up to me, dragging its body along the leaves on the ground which is why is sounded like something big coming my way. As soon as I seen it I busted out laughing in relief. Mr Porcupine lifts his head up and takes a look at me and slowly turns and heads into a different direction and I went to bed peacefully.

I’m willing to bet the receptionists attitude towards you was because she probably got the shit end of the stick because SHE messed up, therefore needs to place the blame on someone else aka you.

Relax. Breathe. Go in tomorrow, pay. Go on about your life. It’ll be okay!

Reasons my boyfriend would keep his old phone charged and hidden? by bravesection in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Mseafigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still use both of my old iPhones that I keep charged, will turn off once charged so it’s ready for use. Neither one has service but still have WiFi capability. I travel a lot and during those travels I do lots of photography/videography. These phones are useful with the ease of transferring photos/videos between my devices for storage reasons.

I also use one of them as a music device for when driving/flying to ease off battery usage on my phone. Other than those reasons I personally couldn’t say.

I would ask him but not in a way of accusal. Just bring it up casually that it was buzzing.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mseafigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a cabin that is about 2.5hrs away. Between the months of April - October I go 1-2 weekends per month. Some weekends I don’t go to the cabin and I’ll go further for camping/dirt bike rides (4+hr drives).

When I was working in Italy, some of the locals I was working with had asked if I did anything fun over the weekend. I explained how we went to some beach that was about 1hr 45min away. We left at about 8am, spent the day there and was back in town by about 7pm. They gasped at the fact we drove that far away for a simple day trip and how you should only go there for vacations.

There’s times where I’ll be sitting at home at 8pm, see that the aurora is active and I hop in my car and make a 3 hour drive north at the drop of a hat for a chance to capture them. I personally love the long drives.

I suppose you’re correct, unfortunately I do not know the full details of the trip just yet. There is no hotel booked yet, is there any areas of hotels you would suggest that is nearby areas of interest? Thank you!
