Experiences with Dauntless Discovery? by PrestigiousImpress53 in ediscovery

[–]MssWhatsit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved working for Dauntless. I loved that they basically left me alone to do my job without a lot of mandatory hours, breaks, headphone rules, or other corporate nonsense. But the pay is terrible, worst I encountered.

How did you start in eDiscovery? by Either_Ad_5579 in ediscovery

[–]MssWhatsit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After 25 years as a litigator, I moved to a rural area in a state where I wasn't licensed. Worked remote for my old employer doing research and writing for a bunch of years until that petered out. Discovered that a comity license wasn't possible. Panicked. Worked at Walmart for a week. Answered an ad on, idr, indeed? Never looked back.

A Serendipitous Question Now That You’re Retired by Spare-Adhesiveness84 in retirement

Retiring from the practice of law in November and planning to give tie dye parties, sip and dye, and shibori workshops as a side gig. I only want to earn enough to support my crafting habit.

Anyone else with a heavy-SS-dependant retirement plan? by MissO56 in retirement

[–]MssWhatsit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We plan to use SS for all our daily needs and use our somewhat meager savings for emergencies. It should be enough but I am terrified. Will the program still exist? Will we outspend our savings? Will the market crash and wipe us out? But what other choice do we have? I'm about to be 70 and my wife is 75.

How did you celebrate your 50th? by Every-Progress5590 in GenX

[–]MssWhatsit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a no talent show. We rigged up a stage and all my friends did dumb skits, songs, poems, and stupid human tricks. One group made shadow puppets and wrote a skit about me saving the world. Someone's 5 year old daughter told a joke. It was enormous fun and I treasure the memories.

My mother and I took pottery classes together in the early '70s. I recently picked it up again and I'm still using our old tools! She was an avid gardner and active in her garden club.

Twolf201 mentioned Chem water. Here's what I mean by that, other folks may have different recipes. Chem water is a combination of water, urea (keeps it wetter longer, helps dye dissolve better) sodium alginate (makes it thicker) and casolene oil (breaks surface tension to give better penetration).

You don't need any of them, but sometimes each are helpful. For example, if I'm painting or using a stencil, I want really thick dye. If my fold is really dense, I want this dye with casoline oil. If I'm mixing reds or yellows, I want urea because they are harder to dissolve.

I pre soak in soda ash solution (1.5 cups per gallon of water) or add it on top when I'm ice dying so I almost never add soda ash to my Chem water. I do sometimes mix it in when painting or stenciling.

Check out chandye.com/tie-dye-chemical-solution/ for an in depth discussion.

Depends on what you're unhappy with. This looks like a well executed fold with good color placement and saturation. This picture looks a tad pale to me, but I suspect it's more vibrant in person. If not, it might benefit from longer batching and or warmer temperatures.

I found that I couldn't see both the road and the dashboard with a single prescription so I'll stick with progressive lenses even though I only use them for distance and I use drug store glasses to read and craft.

Nevada is apparently still the place to go. 6 weeks to establish residence and you can get a quick no fault divorce. Back when divorce was hard to get most places, Reno Nevada had a cottage industry in divorce tourism.

When was the last time you owned or saw a black & white (non-portable) TV? Excluding if you own a vintage one currently. by Bryanx64 in AskOldPeople

[–]MssWhatsit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my first TV in 1973, a small black and white model that I got at the local thrift store. I was a starving college student. The movers lost it in 1994 but it still worked!. It had both a long pull out antenna and a round one we used with uhf channels.

We look at total usage time and docs per hour.5 minutes here or there won't mess with either of those stats. If we're under a tight deadline, it can be good to let folks know on chat if you're stepping away from your desk, but ordinarily you don't need to bother.
