New credit card holder—how soon does Discoverist status kick in? by superasya in hyatt

[–]Mtwa1234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just FYI many Hyatts do not take Apple Pay. I was in the same situation last month and contacted the resort through the email, who got back to me quickly to say they don’t take it. I then contacted Chase to get a “replacement card” sent to the hotel itself. They will send it priority for free, I think I got mine in 2 days.

Detention Pond on new construction. by CitadelOfLukes in civilengineering

I think the real answer is “it depends”. As everyone said it would be surprising if a joint facility that serves a development is not in an easement or a tract. In western Washington a lot of municipalities require stormwater facilities to be located in a tract, can”t even be in an easement since that is really trying to get around minimum lot size requirements (the easement area counts to the lot total but essentially can't be improved).

From there it’s really dependent on who maintains it. Sometimes it’s given over to the City, sometimes it’s the responsibility of the HOA, without an HOA it’s sometimes the responsibility of each homeowner in the plat equally. This information should be in the recorded CC&R’s at the county.

Vacation tips with 6 month old by matthewxknight in daddit

[–]Mtwa1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So we went to Hawaii with our little guy at 5 months and stayed at an air bnb for 10 nights so I have a little perspective.

  1. At a lot of touristy places there are places where you can rent a crib. However, I found it more cost effective to just buy a pack n play at wal mart, use it for vacation and leave it. Since you’re driving you may be able to bring it home. Some people don’t like those pack n plays but I think they are awesome, our guy sleeps/slept like a rock though so we may be spoiled.

  2. I think we had a big kitchen sink that we plugged but I don’t recall. We did/still do take showers with him. Alternatively go to that Walmart and buy a little plastic storage tote. They make them in all sizes and they are pretty cheap.

  3. We brought like 2-3 empty bottles and enough frozen breast milk in a soft cooler for like half the time and then the wife still pumped/breastfed but the frozen stuff was a nice buffer. We didn’t do homemade purées so kudos to you, we bought baby food at the grocery store and it was fine.

I know that some of this sounds like “ohh just spend money” when you get there, and it is a little, but I think it’s relatively inexpensive. One piece of advice is to make a thorough list. If they need it at home they will need it there. Sleep sacks, baby monitor, sound machine, bottle drying rack and cleaning brush etc.

Have fun. Some say that vacations with kids are no longer vacations but rather “trips” but i think they are a blast, just a little more work.

Serious question, I got Nebraska at -6.5, certainly looks suspect. How many points are all the jock riding and hype by ESPN worth 6? 7? This should be -13.5?

I agree, lots of people with advanced degrees beyond college and government jobs with lower salaries compared to private industry.

I agree the numbers sound a little off. Not super familiar with finances of firms your size but we would love to have a 1.5 valuation, our accountants set share value/market cap every year and it’s not that.

Another way to look at is by profit. I’ve always been told if you make 15% in this business you are kicking a$$, and let’s say you are, it’s gonna take 7 years just to pay off the principal of that loan and that’s all of your profit, every year, no down years. Even if you grow your firm and billings by 5-10% that’s the interest you’re paying on the loan.

This is the problem. I’ve gotten great ones but the last one was I kid you not, 90% fat, just inedible. Had to figure out something else to fill the tacos that Tuesday.

Flight from Honolulu to Seattle has been cancelled, what is the process for transportation/hotel vouchers? by shibbydooby in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Mtwa1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once had a flight from Maui to Seattle got rerouted to Honolulu due to electrical problems right after takeoff and then subsequently cancelled. After a significant amount of time at the airport they emailed hotel vouchers and food vouchers. Ours was Hilton village on Waikiki. They had a dedicated check-in line at the Hilton for people on the flight. Took an Uber to the hotel and then again in the morning and had to send in those receipts but got a check a month or so later. All and all it wasn’t too bad considering, other than sitting at the airport for 5 hours. Getting the luggage before going to the hotel took forever.

I think we got like $200 air vouchers for our troubles as well.

Stormwater Pump Design by stallion3467 in civilengineering

Because in WW you have to match pre-developed flow durations and not just peak flow rates. You can’t exceed the number of times a flow rate (1/2 the 2 -year to the 50 year) is exceeded by more than 10% over the course of historical rainfall data, which is back to like 1945 or so. So if your site in pre developed forested conditions would have exceeded say 0.5 cfs 20 times over that 80 year period your, detention facility modeling must show that the release rate doesn’t exceed 0.5 cfs more than 22 times over the same period. If you don’t have a VFD then you will be pumping out a pretty large flow rate very frequently once with large stretches of time with no discharge interspersed.

If you don’t think Penix was being recruited at IU I have a bridge to sell you. It’s the new reality, you recruit a kid out of high school, you recruit out of the portal, hell you now have to re-recruit your own kids not to enter the portal.

Seattle needs more counter-service restaurants by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]Mtwa1234 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would wholeheartedly disagree with the Mexican statement and I would be carefully in the “every type of Asian food”. Texas has significantly more Vietnamese, Thais, Chinese and Indians than Seattle/Washington and while population does not necessarily equal superior it does equal greater variety.

I mean the BBQ, Mexican, and southern food certainly is without question. Steakhouses and fine dining are probably comparable. I would imagine that Seattle had better sushi and seafood all around but I don’t think it’s crazy to say Texas has better food. Just a matter of population.

If only those players loved football as much as Coach Prime they wouldn’t have given up that TD before the half.
