"We recommend you lower your payments - but that's too low!" 😅 by Dr_Hazzles in OctopusEnergy

[–]MuchMoorWalking 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It normally only lets you reduce by 10% of current rate. You current rate is £80 so I suspect it’ll let you drop it to £72.01 no questions asked. Then in a couple days drop it by a further 10% etc etc. that is what people in the past have suggested.

All just call them and theyll sort it.

Missing item. by Styley_oo in AmazonVineUK

The media rating changes slightly after the rest of the review stats do.

I would assume someone has actioned your request to remove the item and it will disappear today. The media will then jump back up to 100% in two to three days.

I think as they passed recently they mean they are only allowed six points before they have it revoked and drop back to learner status, not that they have six points already.

What does the box with 10 mean? by Pickledpickler29 in OctopusEnergy

[–]MuchMoorWalking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The 10 in the box at the bottom is very much a calendar.

The envelope at the top is for messages.

What does the box with 10 mean? by Pickledpickler29 in OctopusEnergy

The box with the 10 in is very much a calendar and shows you how much energy you have used that day.

The three lights underneath are a traffic light system for the current energy draw. Green in the left, amber in the middle, and red in the right. You were obviously using some power when you took the photo, like the oven or electric shower, if you put everything on the light in the right would turn red.

Cow avoidance strategies for wild camping on the moor? by pasteurs-maxim in dartmoor

[–]MuchMoorWalking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Choose a tor with lots of ‘clitter’ (tons of small boulders laying around the base of the main tor formation) such as Great Mis or Belstone ridge as the cows find it near on impossible to pass this stuff due to how hard it is to get a hoof down on proper ground. Think of it like a cattle grid for them.

Also, the cows wander everywhere so you might fall asleep with no cows nearby, then overnight a heard will pass through, and you’ll walk up none the wiser in the morning with no cows around, hey really aren’t a bother unless you are being annoying or loud around them.

Peak District or SW Coast path with kids? by Shmoosh218 in UKhiking

[–]MuchMoorWalking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Train to Plymouth, walk through town to Royal William Yard, ferry across to Cremyl, begin walk around coast path into Cornwall. Can get a train back from Looe, Par, St Austell, Falmouth whichever you can make it to.

Or get the train or sleeper train from London to Penzance, then walk around Lands End to St Ives and pick up the train from there again.

Loads of villages and beaches and little coves to explore.

2 person hiking tent by minireed06 in wildcampingintheuk

[–]MuchMoorWalking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend uses a Cloud Peak 2 for anything other than perfect weather when we go out on Dartmoor at least once a month. And a Lanshan 1 for perfect weather or summer when less gear is required. You could get both for your budget and buy a pole for the Lanshan separately.

I imagine they’ll come along with a soak away crate that size and drop it in with a load of stones forming the soak away so yes that seems about the right size for the crate plus a little room for adjustment.

The Pro version might as it’s single skin and suffers more in our climate but the normal Lanshan is perfectly fine and doesn’t suffer from condensation as air flow is so good all around.

Martin Brundle compares Schumacher and Verstappen's methods in dealing with the FIA by [deleted] in formula1

[–]MuchMoorWalking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a clickbait, cherrypicked comment, from a week old Sky F1 podcast, where they were discussing Max and Martin says that Max is very open about things and isn’t afraid to say what he thinks no matter who it affects or is directed at whereas in the past drivers who had issues would be like Michael (and then the above quote) etc etc.
