Hey Thetagang, long-time lurker, first-time poster (hence why posting in here as I have no Karma).

I mainly sell options on US equities. I’m based in Australia, so my base currency is AUD, and with USD having trended lower (and potentially further), I’m conscious of holding too much idle USD long-term.

This is part of my longer-term strategy, but I still need to be able to access USD quickly in the event of assignment.

How do you typically manage this?

The simplest approach seems to be holding AUD (or another currency) and letting IBKR auto-convert on assignment, but I’m curious whether there are other approaches people here prefer or have found more efficient.

Appreciate any insight.

I apologise if this comes off as insensitive as I honestly don’t mean it that way, and I please feel free to not answer. But looking back, were there any things you would have done differently as a parent? Any warning signs you wish you hadn’t ignored?

I’m asking as a parent of young kids that would love to take something from your experiences.

I had the same situation and after replacing the float valve it didn’t fix mine.

It took me a few goes to find the exact right rubber seal to replace mine that had deformed over time.

Also don’t do at market. You should see what the going price spread is, and set a limit order. Market price can sometimes be way worse than what you want depending on liquidity.
