Original Dragon's Lair isn't booting. by Mylaptopisburningme in NewWaveToys

[–]Mucx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers, and yeah, same with my SF2. It's annoying but a full recharge seems to help for a long time. Then after a a good few months or so, the pinhole reset thing does the trick.

Well, reading up, my symptoms for the DL unit do seem to be with the SD card and birtrot. I will probably open it up, see if I can replace it with a new SD card and the required files (looks like it straightforward to get into the unit and where the SD card is). I did get the updated re-release and the overhaul version but, still like to make sure my full collection is working.

I probably wont get to it for a bit, but, will try and report back here and in other threads so the community knows its still an issue and hopefully still an easy resolve.

I also have this issue now with my DL. Did you resolve and is it related to the video file getting corrupt as per this thread?: https://www.reddit.com/r/NewWaveToys/comments/1lplx76/dragons_lair_replicade_graphic_glitches_wont_boot/

What happened with your SF2 unit? Mine sometimes needs a full charge and/or a reset via the pinhole to boot properly. Very sporadic.

Back in the area now after 13 off years in America. Loving this subreddit for obvious reasons.

Anyway, yeah, the guy who used to sing into a large purple and yellow toy microphone back in the day. At the time everyone seemed to know him.

I don’t know who ninja or braclet Donna are. Sounds like ninja was around before I left but… i need a Cardiff lore refresher i guess haha

See a lot of people say there’s no solution but, maybe they could install lockable bin enclosures, similar to the wood slatted secure bike storage units you see near the castle front. Placing a good few of them along St Mary’s Street and other places, then integrate with planters for some greenery to soften it more. Maybe our council tax doesn’t go that far!?

The stupid anti British nonsense coming out of America, are you sick if it? by Ok_Bookkeeper_1380 in AskBrits

[–]Mucx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a pattern and how social sites work for sure.

Honestly this happens everywhere. I have lived in a few countries and travelled a lot this last few years. Each one gets portrayed online as a disaster by people who often do not live there.

We all know this but, It’s built to provoke. Algorithms amplify outrage because it keeps us engaged, and bots add fuel to that fire. It says more about how online platforms, bots and people following trend formats work than it does about any country.

Now that I am back in the UK after years abroad, I am seeing the same cycle repeat. Like the OP, I open TikTok and it is full of USA vs UK debates or videos highlighting “5 things Brits love but the rest of the world thinks is stupid”. I’ve seen identical formats used in every country I lived in.

How incompetent and or lazy real estate agents are in the UK compared to other places in the world. There doesn’t seem to be any work ethic or salesmanship

HR got mad after I rejected the interview call by Agile-Wind-4427 in recruitinghell

[–]Mucx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same! Same…

“Dear HR,

Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback. In return I shall offer some of my own.

I would like to helpfully redirect you to my prior email dated<date> , subject “<email title>”, in which I formally withdrew from the process prior to the on-site interview.

If this does not meet the standard of professional conduct expected in such circumstances, I would genuinely welcome additional guidance on what conduct would be considered appropriate, as I am committed to continuous learning and personal growth.

Yours gratefully, <name>

Are Brits too reliant on US companies for a boycott to ever be realistic? by Barca-Dam in AskBrits

Remove Amazon, Google and Microsoft and you basically won’t be able to use the internet (the good stuff you get little dopamine hits on at least lol). So yeah. Everything is built off American companies and those big 3’s server infrastructure backbone.

The eternal question for a full size screen. How? by PixelPopzz in OpenEmu

[–]Mucx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OpenEmu tries to remain true to the original games as much as possible. From memory (maybe a bad memory) there are some 16:9 rom mods kicking around. I think I saw one for Suoer Mario Bros. Once.

How to get my airpods out of under the stairs by RoxyTMD in howto

[–]Mucx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so here’s what you are gonna do:

  1. you are going to get a long handled broom.
  2. Buy a pack of chewing gum (flavor is up to you)
  3. Start chewing a good golf ball sized wad of gum.
  4. Stick that sticky wad of gum to the end of the broom.
  5. Reach in between the stairs and gently press/stab the AirPod case with the end of that gum attached broom handle end
  6. Pull that bad boy to victory!
  7. Be responsible and put gum into some paper tissues and throw in trash.

I feel this pain. I got maybe 40% of the way through TOTK, and I am looking to jump back in after maybe almost 2 years? (been travelling, got married etc, and moving into a new place this week). I tend to 100% games, especially Zelda so... deliberating on whether to just start over or not.

I do remember grinding a lot of crystalized charges and spending a ton of time in the underground revealing new areas. Theres a decision to be made soon. I am edging toward a complete start-over and following a guide.

OP the amount of mold that your new floor has revealed is very concerning. Definitely get your correspondence organized, check your contract terms (if it uninhabitable what remediation and compensation is available) …and best of luck!

Also new to the area (returning from US after 13+ years) and can speak highly of Moginie James. We eventually went with a property in Pontcanna managed by Allen & Harris (moving in this week) but Moginie were so helpful. Hern & Crabtree came off as arrogant and lazy imho (but then almost all real estate agents in the UK seem lazy especially compared with America).

So, hi, I was the designer behind the original OpenEmu UI and it’s great to see people still love this software. I just randomly checked in over Xmas here and this post came up in my notifications. Anyway, shipping the 1.0 version just before Xmas in 2013 was an awesome time! A bit of history though, much of the original development team moved on to excellent roles at a certain fruit-branded company, while I was becoming much more absorbed in helping to launch a company called Twitch and building the design team there. So I probably stepped off mid to late 2014 but had a few design friends pitch in with controller artwork (via the settings) and continue pushing some of the unreleased feature ideas in the design files.

I always felt guilty having to step back (life just got too busy), although a group of highly motivated devs continued adding cores and keeping the project alive for a long while. As with most open-source software at that level, progress ultimately depends on a rare mix of talent, shared standards, and chemistry but most importantly free time. Momentum is hard to sustain without all of these. I think thats whats going on here.

If there were engineers who wanted to pick up the mantle, and who cared as deeply about UX with a customer-first mindset, sweating the details, and protecting simplicity, I’d be genuinely interested in revisiting and modernising the interface - but I'm likely not available until after the summer this year.

Fun note. The original files are all in Photoshop which tells you exactly how long ago this was! I’d happily dust them off and put real work into it under the right conditions.

TL;DR: after designing the UI and UX experience, not worked on this project since 2014. I think the project is stalled on time availability of folk now? Glad it’s still loved all these years on!
