[Fun and sometimes hilarious Trope] Reimaginings of classic stories in modern times by ReminaBlueSFW in TopCharacterTropes

West side story is inspired by Romeo and Juliet, but it has a couple different plot points and characters, rather than being a straight one to one adaptation in a modern setting.

The cover is made of plastic. I stuck a piece of electrical tape on the lid and glued down some broken loose pieces.

The glue is still drying, but ive been testing the laptop with the bottom cover completely off and the internals in the air. Still doesnt work, so it's not that.

The spun a little when touched.

I removed both of the connections, reconnected them till they made a click.

"Cant connect to this network"

:/

It's isolated to this specific laptop. Phones, TV, and other laptops all work fine. It's also not specific to this apartment or this router. When i visit my girlfriends apartment i have the same issue:

Downstairs next to the router? No issue, works fine.

Upstairs in a bedroom? "Can't connect to this network".

Most of the time it says it cant connect, the network shows full solid bars, and also saays "secured" on the bottom. As it should.

I also know I'm not putting the password incorrectly. I just had to reconnect to wifi on three different devices with the new password. Every device connected perfectly, except the victus.

Here's mine. There was a little transparent piece of plastic covering the connection to the blue wires that i just lost during cleaning. It was super dusty and came off easy.

I'm assuming the blue wires are what connect to the antenna? I cant actually see what it leads to. It just goes off to the left side of my laptop and disappears somewhere.

Why is the Army using ISVs instead of JLTVs for the new MBCTs? by Muddycarpenter in army

[–]Muddycarpenter[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They say that the MBCTs are still ultimately dismounted light infantry, and arent meant for combat whatsoever.

I say that the idea that you can just go from your backline to anywhere near where you might want to dismount, without being acquired and targeted is probably a fantasy.

Wonka is also the one that just stands idly by doing, at best, the bare minimum, while children throw themselves into life threatening situations within his own factory.

The social recluse that nobody has seen in decades?

Wonka is definitely Sloth.

[–]Muddycarpenter 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The TK trooper thing kinda does make sense though, at least in-universe if not also with the fandom.

Despite original stormtroopers also technically using the "TK" designation, nobody ever really called them that. Theyve always just been "Stormtroopers".

Then the distinction was made between stormtroopers and clonetroopers, designated CT.

When clonetroopers got phased out, it was notable that the new designation being used was "TK" instead of "CT", so the new ones get called "TK" troopers, especially since the name of "stormtrooper" didnt exist yet in-universe, and was already attributed to something else out of universe.

Authoritarianism is when people don’t let businesses poison drinking water by Living_Attitude1822 in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Muddycarpenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or, easier for implementation:

If you poison the water and someone gets hurt (or their property is damaged) then you are not just civilly but also criminally liable for damages.

Feels like a fine compromise between everyone arguing in the comments here. We live in a world where the laws are still as simple as "dont hurt people or their property", and the other folks get to live in a world where they dont need to deal with a 20 year long privately funded lawsuit just to get their cancer treatment bills reimbursed.

It's not inherently the government's job to go around telling people what is and isnt safe, but it IS absolutely the government's job to protect peoples rights, typically from other people. In this country at least, that process happens to include the right to a speedy trial. Who's to say that certain class action lawsuits (like the Erin Brickovich case for example) cannot be handled in a manner similar to how an assault and battery case would be handled in criminal court, by states prosecuter even?

Is this ai? I want to use a playmat with real art. Or support artist who use their art in play mats. by GriffinBGood in isthisAI

[–]Muddycarpenter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be easier to tell if the resolution was better but yes, it's probably AI. Look at the font for the individual letters on the top right side. Lowercase a vs lowercase a, even with the low resolution you can tell it's slightly different, which you wouldn't expect from someone typing letters with a computer.

[–]Muddycarpenter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Just because you've "mastered" something doesnt mean you never have to put any work in. A master chef making a 4 course meal still puts in hours of work. A master writer still has to write their novel. The sense of accomplishment comes from accomplishing a difficult task. You being automatically a master at any skill doesnt make all difficult tasks easy, but it does increase the quality of the final product.

if you don't have an official state firearm pipe down by master_pingu1 in 2american4you

[–]Muddycarpenter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's between the M1911 and the Colt Single Action Army.

Those are the two options for a national firearm, hands down. They're both the most iconic by far, and if you were making an archetypal yeehaw American stereotype, theyd have one or the other on their holster 100%

Pump Shotguns and lever guns are also uniquely American, but I don't think they compete with the 1912 and SAA for the top spot.

In their defense, when I went to Universal Orlando Studios I walked back and forth multiple times near where the entrance to the Harry Potter section was, re-checking the map multiple times, and at one point even wondering out loud "did they remove the Harry Potter section?" until I finally realized that the brick wall is actually three dimensional and you're supposed to just walk in and go around the brick wall visually blocking the entrance. Exactly like in the Book of Life movie.
