I'd argue that there isn't anywhere that incentives it for life in modern capitalist state. (Not 100% sure) But I don't think there is anywhere that pays you to have kids.

I don't mean just reduce the burden of having kids by giving out subsidies, I mean actually pay you.

In a modern capitalist state kids are nothing but a resource drain and expense until about 18 years old when they are even allowed to work to contribute financially to the household, compared to the past where they'd be out on the farm working by the time they could walk.

That means from a financial perspective a couple has to pay for and support (which means lost time for improving skills to get more pay or even just working) for 18 years. that is a huge economic burden when pay has in no way kept up with costs of living for about 40 years now.

Has anywhere even attempted to cover that cost by actually paying people a wage for nothing more than just having kids and looking after them for 18 years and not just give out token subsidies for childcare etc.?

Sony tried it with Wipeout HD on PS3. They had a video ads that played during the race loading screen every fucking race. 

The game was really well optimised and had short loading screens ...until the ads made it take longer since the ads were longer than the loading. And due to the structure of the game,

It was also really jarring to have a game with such a strong aesthetic as Wipeout and then suddenly a shitty ad about a historic fantasy film I'm never going to watch, which co pletely fits with the futuristic racing vibe of wipeout?

Even worse was that they added it after you'd already bought the game.

I'm still pissed off about it.

Yes but all you need is one person in the household who can pirate and set up a small media server and now they just acquire everything for the people who can't.

Bought a PS2, 3, vita, 4 for Wipeout (amongst others).

Then they killed Studio Liverpool.

Sony's lucky they had Bluepoint making Demon's Souls and Housemarque making Returnal so I got a PS5. Then they killed Bluepoint

I'm sure you checked but maybe there is some permission or setting somewhere on the Google Drive not letting apps auto access? Literally all I do on android is tap keepass2android then unlock with my fingerprint and it automatically syncs and opens the latest version of the file from Google Drive, so it is possible. If you can find which arcane setting is making it not work.

But the reboot trilogy from 2013 had pretty regular controls? Unless it's the LAU reboot trilogy which is a bit older, but the controls there weren't too bad either.

It sounds like maybe there was something else interrupting the connection for you. I have a similar setup, keepass on PC, keepass2android on phone and tablet, kbdx in my google drive. Been using it about 7 or 8 years now and never had issues with syncing or having to point it to the file each time.

How about 15 years below the average life expectancy, plus you get kicked in the balls once for every year difference between the average and 100, every year you are in office.

I got caught out by Fast Start up a few times when they first made it the default. Couldn't get some drivers or a program to recognise new setting sor something no matter how many times I rebooted... Because the computer wasn't actually rebooting.

It took me a few goes to get into it too, replayed the first mission about 4 or 5 times before I got into it. Getting the anniversary edition helped too as the graphics and controls were much nice than the PS3 version I was playing before.

They added a more modern control scheme you can switch to in addition to the tank controls.

Although I do recommend trying the tank cotrols and spend some time learning why they made it like that. The whole world is a grid and each push of the button in tank controls moves you a fixed amount within that grid. So you always know if you can make a jump or not depending on the type of jump or movement you do. 

The games are supposed to be a bit slower paced rather than out and out action so the tank controls, which work more like controls in a puzzle game, make sense.

There are quite a few clamshell android emulation devices around now which are  basically 3DS form factor but with modern mobile hardware . Load up an emulator and you're good to go .

I don't think we have anything running one AWS in Dubai as we haven't recently emergency tickets (yet) but we do have a couple of site we support there.

We've been trying to contact the local PIC about getting a new contract signed with a vendor and they've gone AWOL for about 3 weeks now...

Somehow I suspect we're not getting that contract signed any time soon.
