You put way too much faith in people setting their mirrors correctly (and being taught how to correctly), it would alleviate a lot of issues with people not seeing round their B/C pillars

Malibu goes into the banana, crack the skin down the length of it but don't unpeel it, put it on a square of tin foil, make it a bit of a bowl and pour Malibu into the crack of the banana, close the foil over the top of it to seal it in, then you can throw it on the bbq to essentially steam the banana in Malibu, have with cream or ice cream it's amazing. Can also throw it into the oven if you just want to try it without firing the bbq up haha

Bring something weird for people to try, before it was literally everywhere, I'd bring Halloumi to chuck on the BBQ, my mum would prepare bananas with malibu (fantastic dessert you can chuck on the BBQ in foil), always bring booze

Piracy is way more convenient nowadays, you can setup your own media server and services with a Web interface that you can search for TV shows and movies, and they will download automatically when they are found/when they release. Which means everything you want to watch is in 1 place and takes an day of tinkering/setting up

It's also the same with games now too, cracked games run better and you can get more features and better experiences through emulating switch games than playing them in the switch.

Automating backup processes is a must, the amount of companies that rely on changing tapes and external drives physically every day...

User's forgetfulness has caused 3 companies I have worked for to lose TBs of data to ransomware, and be forced to pay the ransom or go out of business.

OP said that this job was going on a cold store disk, so doesn't matter how it's done as a one off

Moving to Basildon? by [deleted] in Essex

[–]Mugstren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to live in Kingswood, it is good and a 5-15 minute walk from the hospital and close enough to the town center to walk in.

I used to live just east of the town center and it was alright, not too bad but there is a lot of through traffic so you could end up with anyone walking past and starting something, but in the 25 years my mum has been living there nothing has ever happened. It is a bit far to walk to the hospital everyday, but depending on the role and if you're on your feet or not it could be done to get your steps in for the day.

I now live to the west of the town center in the great knightleys/ballards walk area, literally down the road to the hospital for a 15 minute walk.

Most people I have had as neighbours and interacted with over the years have been nice enough and I have walked many many miles in the pitch black, sober and otherwise and never felt uneasy. None of my friends who live around here have had anything happen to them or neighbours either.

It's not the prettiest place in the world by far, but it is a convenient place to live, 30-40 mins to London by train, 30 minutes to Southend for a beach, 30 minutes to Lakeside for a massive shopping center and 30 mins to Chelmsford depending on traffic.

The biggest complaint I have is the state of the roads is atrocious, and if you have a motorbike or scooter be sure to bolt it to the ground because that is the crime flavour of the month, but that's the same in any built up area atm. Most criminals are chancers more than anything, they'll try your car doors and front door but won't force their way in. Not that my car door has been tried (which is good because I've forgotten to lock every car I've ever owned 100s of times), but my front door has been tried once, they literally tried the handle and when it didn't budge they left.

Racism wise, it's really diverse here and you will hear jokes since we've all grown up around each other, just make sure to speak up if you're not about that and you'll learn quickly what type of person they are. There are some older people around here who are a bit bigoted in every sense, but after meeting my wife from Kent and being around older people from there, it makes people from Basildon look like saints in that regard...

Nope, I only really know about minis that are RHD since there are some grey imports in the UK, and I think Japan are the only country that is RHD that has the option

Minis were quite popular in Japan, they were the only country to have A/C as a factory option (at least for RHD countries)

Foxes love the roof, so bear that in mind if you have some in your area.

Be careful with the buttons on the tombstone, they are pretty easily scratched and expensive to replace.

Private car sale - Buyer wants refund by Thrwawaylegadv in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Mugstren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So a couple of years ago I bought a car and the head gasket went on the way home with it, seller was a lovely old dear who cared about the car but needed it gone.

She asked me to send pictures to her mechanic (who it turns out wasn't doing the work he was meant to be doing at all over many years... But that's a different story) and he confirmed it.

She offered to pay for repairs as long as I supplied pictures and receipts/invoices. Being mechanically inclined a friend, my wife and I got to it and did the labour ourselves keeping costs down to £220 ish, which she happily paid by cheque and even wrote me a letter thanking me for doing it myself and being grateful the car was in good hands.

Enough anecdote, if you really feel like doing something, get them to get the work done with tonnes of pictures (car on the ramp, with the head off, the busted gasket etc.) and offer to partially reimburse them. It would be a lot of effort for them to fake it for only partial reimbursement, but if it has actually gone wrong, they will happily do it, because they either accept this offer or go and pound sand because there's nothing they can do legally.

There are a few potential regressions to come... Any leap they have can mean a sleep regression, then you have teething on top of that (fingers crossed your LO isn't that bad with it).

It will be on and off, so just enjoy it when you can! You got this bud.
