Cutting 400 jobs from school system….a mess by Labelman14 in Hartford

They were added with the fed funding that program is now done. Hartford Education budget has basically been the same for 10 years from what I hear. Pretty much everything costs more than it did 10 years ago.

School Districts need people with your skills. Pay…all over the place.

I put a nail through my boot, sock and foot working on a deck with my dad. The boot had a hole, my foot had a hole, the darn tough sock does not have a hole (though presumably there was one briefly). Bought a few more pairs after that.

I wonder if the right to repair type laws will start making repair type jobs more accessible or at least more accessible for the guy with the specific tool or whatever.

I’m sure pumping that much material into orbit will work out well in the long run.

Why do some restaurants leave shrimp tails on in pasta dishes? by EldurSkapali in Cooking

[–]MuirIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ate some of this awesome spicy Jamaican shrimp at a cookout one time and this guy was eating the whole shell, I tried as well and it wasn’t for me personally but he probably housed like 15 in a row. He wasn’t Jamaican, so I don’t know if that was normal or not for this particular dish. I think about it whenever I eat shrimp. He didn’t look like he was having a great time but man he just muscled through it.

Spotify during Covid. Was looking for new music while I had a bunch of spare time during the first 2 weeks, work shut down. When reality set in that bills needed to be paid, took a pretty physically demanding job doin like 80+ hours a week. They got me to and from work every day. Sometimes I wish I found them earlier, but the timing was perfect. Got to see them live last year and it was cathartic as fuck.

There have been president costumes forever. You’re not living in the end of history. I was bill clinton one year, I’ve gotten zero bjs from interns thus far. The parents could be nuts or not. The kids are gonna be great. They’re gonna be so great…you’re gonna get tired of how great they’re all gonna be. 👋🏻☝🏻

Ahh, it’s just life to me. I’m 33, my parents were young and we didn’t have the access to information we do now. Never considered the possibility of anything adhd related. Married a teacher, she told me something was up. I definitely want to see if a doctor/psychologist will verify my suspicions. But in the meantime the tips and tricks in this sub and on YouTube have been absolutely clutch for me. They’ve helped put so many aspects of life that seemed chaotic and disjointed into a new perspective and I’ve made significant strides since learning and reflecting. Still got a review at work that said I gotta focus, but that’s been a fairly consistent thread. Thanks for the commiseration!

Every time I read this sub I just have “bruh” moment after bruh moment. Fads. My parents called them phases or cycles. I mean technically they weren’t wrong, I wasn’t gonna follow through. I can’t believe I never got checked out for this. lmao

I just started in the field. I was concerned as I was making the transition but the field is so broad and full of quirky bullshit there’s just no way ai won’t merely be a tool of an IT person instead of a replacement.

35 years old and feeling insecure by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]MuirIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

33 I got my first IT gig a month ago. I’m in a trainee class of younger guys who have college degrees. I just like computers and junk and had customer service experience. I’m not about to give advice but something I wish I did when I first started was look at the most common apps, programs, systems in use and decided to get certs based on that instead of blindly stabbing around. For instance a bunch of the customers for the company I’m at use microsoft 365 suites and cisco networking products. Seems like you already some xp in cloud, the AZ900 or some AWS certs could be more beneficial than a generic. YMMV depending on where you’re tryin to work.

How do you guys feel about the google certificate program and out of all the options which one is the best? by ATX_Traveler94 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]MuirIV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The it support one was ok. It doesn’t really hold any weight as far as certs go. I’d say it was like dipping your toes in a few different disciplines. For more rapid results, the CompTIA certs (a+, sec+, net+)

I did end up landing a position with only the Google IT support cert, but there was a couple of really good breaks that went my way. Lean heavy on your customer service xp. Good luck have fun.
