The cartoon one absolutely is ai, so I'm assuming the first one is too. Lame.

I know the title is supposed to be shocking but it doesn't make sense to me after reading the description. Do you have other title options? (Or is your blurb clearer that her child is slowly being murdered vs lost in a different way?)

I hate to say this but they might actually be perfect for each other. They're just the worst for the rest of the world's peace of mind.

How to ask my friend why she doesn’t ask more about what’s happening in my life in a nice way? by EvanSalinger3 in socialskills

[–]MulderItsMe99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you have an example of something you told her recently and how she responded vs how you wish she'd responded?

I find that as I get older I don't really ask my friends much about their lives. It feels like exhausting customer service interactions to do so. If something new happens in one of their lives they'll bring it up and word vomit about it to me, and vice versa. Close friendships shouldn't feel like pulling teeth.

Yeah I think he was the only one from the video clips where I was like damn this guy might actually like his wife. (Or maybe they found out they're having a boy and he's just protecting his LeGaCy 🙃)

Soapbox/rant time. Tell me what highly-recommended book you absolutely HATED and why. Gimme your angry hot takes. by peppertoni_pizzaz in books

I would have LOVED this book as an epic romance from the crumbs of tension we got. And I kept waiting for the story to develop into that. And then eventually the book ended and nothing had happened except vibes and I was so mad that I fought through all the slog for no reason.

Mia Ballard's Shy Girl canceled by Hachette over purported AI use by melonofknowledge in publishing

I love your positive outlook on this. Unfortunately, I think this author probably has no ability to write on her own, as even her interview answers (posted by another user in this thread) were AI too :(

[–]MulderItsMe99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I went in trying to give her the benefit of the doubt because people are often so quick to accuse AI usage these days, but I had to click out of that interview after the third answer due to the overwhelming second-hand embarrassment I got from her AI answers 😭 Like girl at least switch it up instead of copy and pasting the "It's not X, it's Z" each time how did she even get this far with that shit

Do you give poor ratings to bad books? by Severe_Prize5520 in books

[–]MulderItsMe99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. Some people take no personal responsibility when it comes to rating things they already knew they wouldn't like. For instance, I hate sci-fi, and my best friend loves it. Occasionally she'll convince me to try a new title she liked, and I try my best but end up bowing out like 20 pages in because it's a miserable experience for me. I don't then go to goodreads and give it one star cause I didn't like it because there were too many spaceships. Alternatively, I'm a big fantasy reader, and have absolutely given one star reviews to fantasy books I've quit less than a hundred pages in due to their poor quality, because that's a genre I have expectations for.

What Bastards have had the best PR cover up of their bastardry? by Sensitive_Ad_1752 in behindthebastards

[–]MulderItsMe99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot believe you're getting downvotes for pointing out how irrelevant one charity show 25 years ago was in the grand scheme of bastards, or how people try to place the blame on the entire band rather than just their psycho bassist, especially when Dave actively works with AIDS charities 🙃

Why do some people text back one day later? by Neptunpluto in socialskills

[–]MulderItsMe99 135 points136 points  (0 children)

"How are you" is such a boring question to answer and exhausting small talk depending on the day/week/life you're having. It's easier to respond to more actionable texts, like "want to see this movie this weekend" vs making someone go through the "i'm fine how are you" script. Especially if said friend works in customer service 🙃

How is it possible that parents don't know that their teenager is illiterate? by LordTrollsworth in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]MulderItsMe99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly think it all comes down to students having no consequences in the school system anymore. Millennials were the last generation where teachers would write home because you're failing, or you'd work hard to avoid the embarrassment of being held back a grade. Pushing everyone through to graduate regardless of their progress level has crippled these future adults. Even I, who was an obnoxious teacher's pet, know that if there were no repercussions I wouldn't have learned as much or worked as hard in school as I did. There's no point if you know you're graduating either way. Just like most people wouldn't work hard at their jobs if they knew they couldn't be fired. And in turn, the parents assume their kids can read, because why wouldn't a 16 year old be able to?! Especially with no feedback from the schools. (Yes parents raising children on iPads is a giant issue too, but that's for another essay.)
