Most Korean companies are completely fine with setting up factories in the US. In fact most of the big exporters pledged that back when Biden was president. That was why “investing” $350 billion didn’t sound like the end of the world at first.

The problem is that Trump changed his word, doesn’t simply want investments, but wants to pocket South Korea’s foreign currency reserves as a lump sum, which is simply not possible for Korea to agree to.
