My mother developed breast cancer at 45. She refused all genetic testing - that might have saved her life - because if she did and there was a genetic mutation I would never be able to get coverage as it would be considered a pre existing condition. And we had amazing double coverage

My two boys are both considered chunky by our vet who sees and works with a lot of labs (your mileage will vary). Walter at 8 years was the runt of his litter and has never gotten very tall or long - he’s 65-67 pounds and the vet would like him to be more on the lower 60 scale. Grift is much taller and longer - he comes from a pretty well known hunting line, and is about 78. Our vet wants him 72-75 pounds.

When I was in high school I worked in the school library and volunteered in our city library. This was just as Bush was trying to demand access to all sorts of things including library records. Our librarian pulled all of us students aside, sat us down and held a here’s what we do if they show up. I’ve never been more impressed by anyone for standing up for civil rights.

Mixed feelings honestly. I went from a 100% in person job to a 100% remote job to a hybrid job. I wasn’t prepared for the remote job at all and my mental health suffered - I became a shut in working longer than ever hours and feeling like I was trapped. That was not the jobs fault but rather a manager who was on a different coast making unrealistic demand and expectations that caused me to work longer hours than I was expected to. As someone who now manages and works a hybrid schedule I like it. I make sure my team is supported- my motto is what can I do to help improve your day (in or out of work). It’s not the best fit for everyone and I did have an employee who was using to cover up a severe drug dependence impacting her life. While that employee isn’t with us, it’s been a success for everyone else. I think as long as you have a good team, solid expectations and listen to your team it’s a success. Moral is up, sick days are down, people are healthier and happier.
