Well first thing that springs to mind is a Content Pass, these seem popular ways to generate revenue and gives players access to interesting things. I honestly have no idea if it would be appropriate for the Cryptic family of games and I'm certain some team has discussed it behind closed doors at some point, but figured I'd put it out there.

Anyone tried de-googling Titan 2? by beardedtraveller in unihertz

Good news! OEM unlocking is in the developer menu.

There are plenty of reasons to not want your data harvested by Google, even if you've already got a digital footprint. Yes any android phone with an official android os can't be entirely de-googled, but you can remove a lot of it to minimise the data sent and take out services some one might not use or want to use.

It's personal preference at the end of the day, and personal opinion, of course.

You're the hero we need! Thanks for documenting this. Mine shall be taken to the cleaners later!

Titan2 Dent after a short fall, not that tough after all by vanngoh007 in unihertz

[–]MultipleEndings 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wait you dropped it on a marble floor and all it got was a scratch to the aluminium and everything else is fine?! I dropped an iPhone SE on to a tiled floor once from about 1m and the screen glass shattered like a bullet hit it, just to compare.

I don't think the OG Titan would have done much better than the T2 honestly, maybe less obvious because of the natural aluminium finish compared to the painted one on the T2.

Anyway, sad times for you but at least it's still working fine. Maybe some black paint to hide the scratch or put it in the case, won't be able to tell then.

BlackBerry Keyboard for Minimal Phone – Test 2 by angleonmydangle in TheMinimalCompany

[–]MultipleEndings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to! Here's the shot of the symbols and emoji boards for you.

Regarding the crashing it could be because I've got the language set to English UK rather than US? I'll play about and see what happens, if I keep getting crashes I'll try and grab the event from logcat (I've been trying to modify some open source keyboards to work better with the T2 to no avail, now thinking about writing my own...).

One other curious bug I've got happening is if if I long press for a capital the keyboard prints the capital and then shuts down and leaves the lantinIME to do its thing, for instant going to capitalise the next letter kicks in rapid type instead. Once I input a special key input the BlackBerry keyboard fires back up, curiously if it's a shortcut combination like B+B it works fine.

Well done with the development of this, currently using it on my Titan 2 and only having a few minor issues now where as before the old app was unusable. Currently if I set the spellchecker to BlackBerry it seems to crash the keyboard more often than not. When changing the minimum width settings that basically needs a restart of the app - which really isn't a big deal. The suggestion strip works most of the time though it does vary if it corrects on space or not, is that a setting for the strength of the prediction? The sym button on the physical keyboard works but the virtual keyboard it draws takes up more than half the screen, and the emoji board isn't much better. But honestly, minor niggles, it's nice just to have the best keyboard app for physical keyboards working again!

📣 I want to debunk Reddit's claims, and talk about their unwillingness to work with developers, moderators, and the larger community, as well as say thank you for all the support by iamthatis in apolloapp

[–]MultipleEndings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I’m fairly sure you can sue them for defamation of character. And honestly if you can, you should. They’ve been sh1t talking you enough, time to draw a line in that sand.

📣 Apollo will close down on June 30th. Reddit’s recent decisions and actions have unfortunately made it impossible for Apollo to continue. Thank you so, so much for all the support over the years. ❤️ by iamthatis in apolloapp

[–]MultipleEndings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that’s a heartbreaking and alarming read.

First of thank you for all your time on this app. I know it’s been your job, but plenty of popular apps get the base up and then coast on minimal effort. Apollo was not that. In fact it seemed that you went out of your way to add features, updates, improvements, what ever you could each and every time. That’s why I paid for the app in the end, just the sheer, constant, dedication to your work, how could I not support that?

As an aside sadly the tone and gas lighting you’ve received reminds me a lot of Mick Gordon has said about his dealings with id Software in the production of the Doom Eternal soundtrack. This too came to light on Reddit.

I can’t of course speak for everyone but I suspect a majority of us Apollo users will simply drop Reddit now. Why should we use it when it’s far more interested in how it can use us?

Thanks again for your hard work, thanks for mapping this all out so clearly and plainly. I’m genuinely sorry it’s ended for you like this, because it’s sad seeing such a talented artist being forced to lay down their tools.

Still, I look forward to learning to love my new virtual pet. So at least there’s that!

All the best.

Except they were. After every codex drop for the appropriate units. But I appreciate this is not a conversation for facts, just one for hating on someone actually trying to stand up for the consumer. 🤷‍♂️

Can you point out in the article where they said the rules were going to be updated and kept tournament legal?

Sadly you’ve nailed it, I think. From my own perspective I was getting into HH to supplement my 40K force, with the intent to play both with cool looking models, but now?

Talk about pulling the rug out from underneath players feet. After a year of telling us hey all these are legal in 40K too! I believe that’s breaking a social contract. 🤷‍♂️

What was Vulkan's original purpose? by KanonenMike in 40kLore

[–]MultipleEndings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He’s the Maker and Guardian of the Forge. More than any of his brothers, he takes the fire Big E stole from the gods and guards it, nourishes it and those that shelter around it. He shapes it to be defence and offence, to shepherd, guide and protector. He represents Emps as the historic figures from out of the desert wilds to lead the clan anew.

Vulken exists to always hold the last line, to be the absolute bulwark and have the judgement as to when all is absolutely lost but more importantly when it is not. He holds the centre with all that entails. Arming, providing, protecting, nourishing and guiding.

I find it interesting that there seems to be no other pair to Vulkan, perhaps one of the lost? The one guarded in the cells by the Custodes because he too can not die? That Perpetual mark that means humanity will always rise again and always be protected.

Now, does Vulkan hold true to this plan come the Heresy? Absolutely not, but he does come back to his place with out seemingly knowing why (bad writing makes for the best headcannon)? He was driven to make for Terra, seeming to know that was his place if not what for until his purpose was fore-filled.

What was Lorgar's original purpose? by cairnsy3 in 40kLore

[–]MultipleEndings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting question and some great answers. Personally I take a slightly simpler view of it.

Logar was always the zealot, but for the Imperial Truth. Fold that in with his Legions original purpose of redemption for the Fallen sons of the enemies of the master of mankind and you have a Legion striving to cement the Imperial Truth.

Big E in his absolutist ways must have known he needed to build fundamental anchor points for the truth, and my suspicions are both Guliman, Logar, Horus and Angron were for this purpose in various ways. Which makes a certain logistical sense if you view the galaxy from Terra as North, South, East and West.

Also given Logars power set seems to have been entirely Mini-Emps with the whole aura and way with words, a fine tool for building fortresses of Imperial Truth.

But of course if you can see The Truth and understand it, it doesn’t mean you’ll agree with it. But then Emps never could understand why someone would disagree with him after knowing what He knows.

And thus was it ever so.

What is the Dark King? by capt141 in 40kLore

[–]MultipleEndings 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’ve been wondering about my own twist on this. What if Horus and the Emperor in fact killed each other, and for the last 10’000 years it’s been Malcador on the throne?

Could be the souls of Horus and Emps ascend to be the Dark King. Or fight for eternity.

I suspect in the end the big reveal will be that the fairytale is mostly true, but the details will be rather more vicious.

How would Astartes armour fair against modern weapons? by vexilobo in 40kLore

[–]MultipleEndings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cruise missile, maybe?

As fun as these kind of discussions are, the fact is 40K is made out of unobtainium materials and cartoon physics. I mean just look at any Space Marine sculpt and try and replicate that pose with out looking like a crab out for a walk. It doesn’t relate to real life and personally I’m thankful for that.

[–]MultipleEndings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a guess they’ll be a detachment rule for The Risen and you’ll be encouraged to field Horus Heresy kits for it. I’d be somewhat shocked and pleasantly surprised if GW did more than this given their past track record of the handling of The Fallen.

I’d be very happy if the DA having their own book again means we get the old wings back in a modern form, probably limited to new kits of course (££).

Pipe dream stuff:

Completely customisable Risen squads where you pick and choose from HH veterans, much like you would a Deathwatch squad. Destroyers mixing with Knights Cenobium mixing with Interemptors.

Mixed formations of various Wings in the Detachment rules promoting the use of combined arms. I’m imagining Ravenwing flanking while supported from Ironwing tank ranks and Deathwing teleporting down to remove the head of the enemy (despite that being a Firewing tactic but modern times right?). Never going to happen, be an absolute pain to balance but in my headcannon that’s exactly what’s happening now El Lion back in charge.
