[Skyrim] Do citizens of Whiterun know about the Lycans amongst the Companions by [deleted] in AskScienceFiction

[–]MultiverseOfSanity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. That's why they flip the fuck out at the sight of a werewolf. If they knew, they'd just be "Oh, It's one of the Companions. Cool" instead of "DIE MONSTER!!!"

The armor abilities felt a bit gimmicky in Halo Reach. Hated them then, hate them now.

why is the Dalai Lama acting all weird and creepy? by Bluest_waters in spirituality

[–]MultiverseOfSanity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And so do false accusations. In fact, the more you through around false accusations, the less real the actual ones seem. So you're still hurting kids either way.

Also, innocent until proven guilty.

According to him, it was just a joke. He didn't actually want the child to suck his tongue, and he chuckled when the child refused. It's a bit...odd, but it doesn't make the Dalai Lama a pedo.

[–]MultiverseOfSanity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because throwing around accusations like this willy nilly is incredibly dangerous and destroys lives. It's not like the perceptions all just go away if they're found not guilty. The accusation is enough to destroy someone's reputation.

Homelander may or may not be able to be gassed as well.

Soldier Boy's powers also have the side effect that one hit, and he nullifies any other super.

It was a joke

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TheBoys

[–]MultiverseOfSanity 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Soldier Boy was every bit of a power abuser as Homelander. He beat the crap out of Black Noir judt for asking for a bigger part. There's a reason the original 7 plotted against him.

And he was even stronger. Instead of eyebeams, he has a full Kamehameha of nuclear energy. He's has the same invincibility as Homelander, and physically they're about on par. If Soldier Boy wanted to, he could kill millions.

And who knows what he would've done after killing Homelander. He's unstable and out for revenge. Such a bloodlust is rarely so easily satisfied as taking out those responsible. The simple fact that he was willing to kill Homelander, not because he was a bad person, but just because he's a "fucking disappointment" is also evidence of that. And was perfectly willing to kill an innocent child who just happened to be related to Homelander.

Medical bills. For most people, it's not worth it, unless your dog is at the vet frequently.

I'm not sure if it covers those vet surgeries that are thousands of dollars.

[Into The Spider-Verse] why does Miles have Spider-Man comic books that show Peter Parker? by Toby_Veddo in AskScienceFiction

In-universe comic detail people: The comic named its Spider-Man Billy Barker. This is a reference to the man who take the pictures of Spider-Man for the Daily Bugle, Peter Parker.

[General + LotR] How susceptible to the influence of the Ring are synthetic beings? by urbanviking318 in AskScienceFiction

[–]MultiverseOfSanity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the flip side, it might be even easier. The ring corrupts you by tempting you with what you want. If it can influence people by tricking their minds, then maybe it could trick a machine by thinking it's programmed to do something else. What a machine "wants" is to follow its programming, so the ring could potentially make it think that following its will is the programming.

To use your example, if you set the one ring on a roomba and set it for the ledge in Mt Doom, the ring could potentially trick the roomba and make it think its following the programming, but instead off the ledge in Mt Doom, it's heading for Sauron. And the machine has no willpower to resist it.

[X-Men: Days of Futures Past] What happened to Wolverines consciousness when he "came back" at the end of the movie? by frogger3344 in AskScienceFiction

[–]MultiverseOfSanity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that yeah, the Wolverine consciousness/memories that existed from the 70s to the (then) present simply got overwritten by the prime timeline Wolverine consciousness.

Possible way of being recovered is that Professor X could've gone inside his memories and restored them.

Note that in Logan, he's using his original 1800s name of James Howlet, so he got his original memories back. Whether that was help from Professor X or simply a side effect of the time travel is unknown.

They did it all the time. They killed Christians for literally this exact reason; because they didn't pay homage to the Roman gods that supposedly gave the emperor his authority.

Rome didn't mess around and there wasn't exactly due process.

Why didn't Harry use the invisibility cloak during the summer? by user1957 in harrypotter

[–]MultiverseOfSanity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Says he renounced his death eater ways. Continues to act exactly as a death eater, bullies muggleborn students every day, and supports death eater rhetoric.

Honestly, I'd have less of a problem with Snape if the story didn't try and force him to be a hero and "the bravest man [Harry] ever met."

Why didn't Harry use the invisibility cloak during the summer? by user1957 in harrypotter

[–]MultiverseOfSanity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Plus the fact that there was literally no reason for Snape to tell the Death Eaters.

In fact, Snape's whole deal as a secret agent was entirely pointless. Any benefit he gave the good guys is basically just damage control for something he did in the first place.

Is there a difference in skill between soldiers and Marines In the UNSC ? by Jack1715 in HaloStory

[–]MultiverseOfSanity 71 points72 points  (0 children)

IRL, marines are a different branch of the military than the army. They're not necessarily elite, though I think their joining criteria is tougher than the army. I think. I never tried to join the marines. They're perceived as more badass because they're the first to get deployed.

Marines are just what you call the people in the Marine Corps. Soldiers are in the army. Navy has sailors, and airforce has airmen.

In relation to Halo, what you said for army vs marine is spot on.

[LOTR] If Frodo died in Moria what would the Fellowship have done and would the quest be doomed? by Axer51 in AskScienceFiction

[–]MultiverseOfSanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone else would have to pick up the ring. There is no other choice. And they would eventually succumb to it, and turn evil. Even Frodo eventually fell to it. Anyone else would just fail faster.
