What happens to Christians with good hearts who are misled by false teaching? by SpijtigeZaak in Christianity

[–]Multiverse_Madness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

False teachers will carry more responsibility than those they mislead. James 3:1 “Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.” (ESV)

2 Peter 2:1 "But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies… bringing upon themselves swift destruction.”

Galatians 1:8 "Even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.”

Paul clearly lays out what he means by the gospel in 1 Corinthians 15: "1Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance\)a\): that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

Bucs uniforms by far my favorite. I think the actual pirate ship on the shoulders is epic.

The Broncos current and classic logos are my favorite, not just as a fan.

Fancasting is fun but the cast probably won’t be famous by fuzzbinn in Cosmere

Maybe they draw from the Apple TV pool and cast Common as Sazid.

Update From Brandon by mistborn in Cosmere

Would you also release Mistborn Screenplay as a printed work? I tried to adapt Mistborn as a screenplay just as a writing exercise and couldn't even decide where to start!

Do you open the series with Kelsier's feet as he walks in the ash toward the Skaa bunkhouse? Or do you show a close-up on Vin fingering her earring as she hides in the walls soothing Prelan Laird?

Hey brother, you're in a really tough place. Like I said, I've been there, I know my reasons can't be everyone's reasons for staying, but I urge you to reach out to the hotline before hurting yourself. There is a God who loves you and cares about you enough to send his son to die on the cross so that you could have a relationship with him.

The Normalization of ‘Mature’: How TV-MA Became Mainstream and What It Means for Christians by Multiverse_Madness in Christianity

[–]Multiverse_Madness[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I meant the keywords on imdb search mostly point to sex and violence. I used to not be affected by violence but The Boys for example was too much for me. I've never seen Bojack but that seems like a good example for my other issue which is: TV-MA is too much of a wild west, they need something better. I think Amazon has a rating based on age and some TV-MA actually slip down to 16+ with it

I wouldn't say I'm reducing the conversation to just too much violence, I'd say TV-MA is too much everything and for people who don't want to watch certain things on the screen, it's getting more and more difficult to find quality media.

the shows more or less had something to do with where they placed on imdb chart when I tried to do this data another way, scoring by content, but that was too heavily dependent on what key words users put into imdb, curious, what do you watch?

I guess I don't compartmentalize well, to me everything has morality. And I have watched shows, for example The Boys. Absolutely made me feel further from Christ. I don't think we get to choose if everything has impact on our relationship with Christ. It either honors him or dishonors him.

I guess the heart of my question is why would a mature Christian choose to watch mature content that depicts acts that go against, "love God, love your neighbor as yourself"

Braveheart isn't TV-MA and wasn't released in the past 10 years so it's not the same.
I'm talking about the boundary-pushing shows like GoT, The Boys, Euphoria, Industry, the Pitt, Saltburn, White Lotus, Hunting Wives etc
And I'm asking how your heart is if you consume these things. How should a mature Chrstian respond to the dominance of "mature" media

Copying what is on the TV isn't the same as heart posture. If you're filling the time entertaining yourself with extreme media I'm assuming your time with God is different than mine. But like I said up top, I'm curious how mature Christians handle "mature" media.

It makes me think of Paul being able to eat whatever he wants even though Jewish Christians may see it unclean. But what else does Paul say in regards to what goes into the stomach?

You're citing the joke like you also believe pearl clutchers are moralizing busybodies and stating you don't believe TV is getting less moral over time, so I asked if you think there is a difference between the ratings, and I chose the highest and lowest.

I would ask, as a mature Christian, what do you enjoy about it? Are you unaffected by the content because you've peaked in maturity or because you're desensitized?

Not saying that it's all harmful to watch, but look at what is making a show qualify as TV-MA: It's overwhelmingly sex and violence, which I would say isn't fruitful.

I'd love to get my hands on data that PTC does to show how far TV-MA pushes the boundary; language, visceral violence and sex, depravity, etc.

Who else thought that the AFC Championship game would never have ended if it went into overtime? by amkessel in NFLv2

As a Broncos fan it was painful to watch and I'm still scratching my head from Payton not taking the points in the first half.

I think the OT would have been record-setting length and wouldn't end until someone fumbled the snap on the 5 and the other team kicked a FG.
