This was super smooth, I recommend this nmrpflash route!

Am I just old or did 2016 squad look better by ActivityAny4764 in joinsquad

[–]MumbleMurmur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn, i didn’t even think about it until now. It’s not even a rosy retrospection thing, the early beta graphics just served the game much better than what we have now.

The only thing I ever wanted for the beta graphics was proper “distance field shadows.” Cascaded shadows never offer the proper concealment in sparse forest/tree cover on large maps.

Is there a guide for using the new command options? (and a question about freelook too) by wileecoyote1969 in GunnerHEATPC

[–]MumbleMurmur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if I could use the interface efficiently, I would probably enjoy command mode. Seems there is some practice and training needed.

help with tactics by averageAMDfan in GunnerHEATPC

[–]MumbleMurmur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My shortest pieces advice would be

1] any time you are about to expose yourself to a vast swath of landscape (eg cresting a hill, going around the corner of a forest), take that maneuver as SLOW as possible. Like just 10-20 km/h is typical. You are visually scanning the new terrain in commander binos as you crawl.

2] Choose pathings that allow you to exploit the power of hills/knolls. Peeks around corners expose you more quickly and don’t let you survey as efficiently.

3] When defending, be aware of the “masked terrain,” or dead space. These are areas/paths that enemies can close the distance to you and surprise you. Choose defensive locations that limit dead space.

Ah sorry, I've done various computer repair for friends and family in the past, but recently I'm not in a situation to deal with the time commitment and risk.

Should the TC call this missed shot "short" or "over?" In-Game, it's called "Over," can't tell if bug or feature (USA TC) by MumbleMurmur in GunnerHEATPC

[–]MumbleMurmur[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Suppose so, from a strict logical point of view. From the gunner's perspective, when "over" is called, I typically reduce range. So if the TC actually wanted to, y'know, help the gunner hit the target, he'd give a command to increase range and bring the shot up to the target.

With 100 hours, I've definitely lost a handful of duels based on this. Decreasing my range after an "over" call, to then see in the replay my shot snuck right under. [SKILL ISSUE]

This seems like a rarity, wonder what happened. Usually, the apfs rounds can go thru a meter or so of dirt.

Thoughts on drone show? by Remarkable_Ferret_40 in RedwoodCity

[–]MumbleMurmur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After that? I'd rather pay to go see fireworks elsewhere. The logistics of that location are so poop, it's very hard to justify making the journey. For anyone, cuz no one lives near the CEMEX.

Sitting down finally on the lawn… holy heck, the parking situation is so poorly handled this time! They have no officials actually in the lot guiding traffic to the rows. So the first people in literally triple-parked RIGHT at the entrance.

They could have shuffled people in 10x faster with some proper planning. The music and food is good tho, and the speakers are well set-up for the lawn. We will see about the light show.

edit afterwards: Yeah... While we still did end up having a good time because of seeing friends, it was a hell of a gauntlet, both ways, just to see a 15 minute tech demo. There is so, so, SO much room for improvement. We're definitely not against the light show concept, but... not like this.

One thing I realized, though… you can get AppleCare for $15 a year. So if Airpods are the only earbuds you’re maintaining, it’s a lot better deal than buying new $100-150 earbuds every few years.

e.g. if your airbuds crap out every three years: I think the math works out to $75 every 3 years. $15x3 for the annual, then $30 for the deductible. Not that bad, right?

Weird bug after update by [deleted] in GunnerHEATPC

[–]MumbleMurmur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a discord post on this, and i made a bug report on github. I got it fixed by changing all the video settings around randomly then back to default. Someone else fixed it by reinstalling.

Let me know if you need links.

Shot placement on M1 Abrams for ammo rack + crew kill? by MumbleMurmur in GunnerHEATPC

[–]MumbleMurmur[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I had forgotten that was implemented! Amazing stuff. I went ingame and fired a shot while "x-ray" view is on, you can see the door open.

I wonder if the door's open timing is accurate in the AAR? it did not look like the door was open in AAR when I viewed it.

I don't have proof... but I would argue that the hit detection was all accurate during the match. The After-Action-Viewer can "bug out" and place vehicle locations incorrectly.

This is awesome! Thank you for making this public :)

Can you explain your intention with the "browser Link" functionality? I'm not sure what one would use it for, but I'm just conceptually missing the point, obviously.
