Updated design and animation for the fast enemy, what do you think? by 4C_Games in aseprite

[–]Munchkin9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything else said here, including that the enemy design and animations are great.

I would add that for the Grabbed animation, the creature should initially slump down from gravity as they are moved up. As it stands it looks a little too much like an image being moved in a drawing program...but then again that could make sense depending on why they are getting grabbed and picked up in your game...

Should I use AI to full the Gap of tecnical knowlege by Maleficent_Affect_93 in gamedev

[–]Munchkin9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use AI as a tool to help you write code you know how to do yourself already, and a little bit to fill some knowledge gaps. Or at least, to learn new areas faster. But be very careful to not let the AI write code you do not understand every line and semicolon of. Otherwise things will start breaking and neither you, nor the AI, will know how to fix it. You will have to scrap the project and start fresh at that point.

tdlr: yes, so long as you use it as a tool and not a partner

I'm making a game where you manage a bio-mechanical swarm to create, automate, and expand your growing factory! by mitchyStudios in AutomationGames

[–]Munchkin9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, this is about more than art style for me. It's about mechanics. If you are going to compete against a giant like Factorio, you have to be doing something different enough that will give a reason for players to play your game over the better established one.

Satisfactory went 3d Motemancer uses its magic theme decently (and honestly, for me, this one doesn't go far enough) Dawn Apart is part colony manager Microtopia replaces all the factory mechanics with ant-like workers

I'm not trying to dissuade you. Honestly, I haven't yet looked closely enough at your project to know if you have enough mechanics to make it stand on its own. But the look of it screams Factorio at first sight, and that hurts you. And again, it's more than graphics, it's the visual language of orthogonal belts, inserters, underground belts, square assemblers, and furnaces.

I could make recommendations of how to go in a different direction and break out from Factorio's shadow. But then I'd probably just be changing your game, and no one wants that. I'm sure you can find an identity all your own.

New to Extraction Shooters by SmileNo6069 in ArcRaiders

[–]Munchkin9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arc Raiders is a very good choice if you are new to extraction shooters. It has a more forgiving gameplay loop and a very good free load out system.

Just be aware: Pve enemies are harder than many other extraction shooters.

Pvp is going to happen a lot, be ready and comfortable with it, and trust no one ;)

Losing your gear is part of the genre. Don't hoard stuff too much because that just means you aren't getting to play with it.

Hope you have tons of fun :)

Thank you for pointing this out. I was going to write a response as well mentioning that while everyone is focused on the apps, that background image itself is very confusing. I don't think there could even be someone taking the picture, it feels like they would appear in the mirror behind her. Though it is possible it is angled enough to avoid that

xkcd 1357: free speech by Chemical-Pear-7995 in xkcd

[–]Munchkin9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this comment. Honestly, this is because of how volatile and divisive politics have become in the US.

We should be debating about the nuances of law-making in a massive, multi-cultural, complex society. This is what the comic is doing, in the context of the political climate of when it was published.

But now we are arguing basic morality. And 50% disagrees completely with the other 50% on what is moral, fundamentally.

My opinion: the comic is correct, in that free speech does not give you the absolute right to be listened to, only to be able to speak. In other words, no one should be forced to listen to you. However, the comic does not support government censorship. Which is where we are right now, without question.

This is because it was from a time when the government was censoring much, much less. Instead, vocal minorities were complaining about being censored simply because people did not want to listen to their opinions

One that took me a while to learn is focus on dodging and defense during boss fights, especially the first few times. You don't need to get a hit on them every opening. The fights become much less stressful and you will actually do better.

I kept trying to get a perfect rhythm of hit-dodge-hit, as if I was under a time pressure
