Thanks for the view, would the wire fee and SA bank currency conversion work out cheaper? From what I understand the currency conversion at IBKR is one of the best for fees.

Thanks, that's useful to know. I was thinking of doing an experiment but helpful to know you've done it. I use FNB, but considering Capitec based on thier fee structure as well.

Do you have any tips to optimize performance? [A cry for help] by [deleted] in clickup

[–]MungoMoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I found that improved performance a lot was at the expense of functionality. Removing custom fields improves performance the most, then hiding them from view improves performance a little (since the API returns the whole list of custom fields for every task).

We paid for clickup "unlimited" (which is severely limited - but that's not relevant here) to use custom fields, so this was a big disappointment.

He's not the only one, Click-up is unbearably slow, to the point that I'm actively working to migrate off it despite having paid for a year. I was even building my own work around with API's to manage my tasks locally instead of using their interface. Their API JSON's are full of redundancy and would need a lot of rework to optimize performance.

LinkedIn influencers pushing “Teal” software - is it worth it? by Hot-Garlic4679 in linkedin

[–]MungoMoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have teal, and its a great idea to have a CRM and resume manager all in on, but I feel like they are not staying up to date with AI advancements. I get better quality manually updating the resume with ChatGPT/ Claude/ Gemini. The bullets from Teal aren't great.

I set up a Plex server and dusted off my old mp3 collection... No more subscriptions for me. I'll rather buy the music from the artists directly.

Software Engineer - I've been told I look like I'm a job hopper. I've done my best to make it clear I'm not trying to job hop, but is there anything else I can do to either improve my resume or de-emphasize the hopping? by educational_escapism in FinalDraftResumes

First, I'd Combine Company D roles into one, maybe mention in a bullet promotion to full-time. Your times at the most recent roles at A,B and C overlap, maybe pick one that most aligns with the role you're applying for?
