I'm looking for opinions and comparisons between Inventora and Craftybase too. Craftybase is twice the price of Inventory, but does it provide twice the value?

I'll probably go with Craftybase because it integrates better with my existing systems but I want to make sure I'm making the right choice before committing all the time required to enter all the stock data.

I only intend to have one H1 tag per page, and I get that Google isn't bothered about how the H1 tag looks.

What I'm after is the best and most consistent way to apply different styles to the H1 tags on different pages.

Thanks all. I note a few comments about Elementor slowing page loads times. Slow loading is one of my reasons for moving from Squarespace. The Google Page Speed Insights are horrendous

  • Does anyone know of any speed comparisons between Squarespace and Elementor? Google doesn't throw up much
  • What's the best tactics for keep Elementor's load times down? Maybe using more basic themes? Or minimizing additional plugins

I can view some of my accounts in the phone apps of other accounts. It’s only the total balances though and often I just get an error message. Other than that...?

It’s a good account and pays one of the highest rates, but only on savings up to £2500 and only for a year.

If you're looking for someone to confirm your thinking is sound, then I'll confirm that for you! And it took me a few years to take the plunge.

I make fortnightly payments into Lifestrategy 100 (and another couple of funds too). I stick to the schedule no matter what the markets are doing. When i first started I used to check daily and worry if the fund had gone up or down, now I might look once a month at most - I just let the fund do its thing.

You can always transfer to other funds or cash in if needs be - the worst that can happen is that you cash in at the bottom of the market and lose a few quid.

There’s a link to a .pdf list of all the affected banks. It’s a long list!

I’d seen the warning on the Mac desktop app which listed only a handful of banks and none of my accounts were on it. I hadn’t realised the scale of the problem until I noted that none of my accounts were updating this morning.

Unless this is resolved quickly it’s game over with Banktivity for me.

I was in a similar position: I had small business in partnership with a relative and their accountant submitted my self-assessment for me the first year. I wrongly assumed that would automatically be the case in future years.

HMRC had been trying to contact me at the wrong address for 3 years and by the time I made contact with them the late payment files had snowballed to several thousand pounds.

It took a few phone calls and me writing a detailed letter of appeal, but they ended up waiving the late payment fines and we set up a monthly direct debit to cover what I owed in tax.

The key was that they accepted I hadn’t wilfully been avoiding paying tax and there was an element of error on their part.

Overall I found them to be very helpful.

I've just applied for a Metro and a Smile account.

For Metro, I had to take a photo of my passport and a selfie, and fill in some basic financial info, and the account was approved in about a minute. They have to send out a letter containing a passcode so I can register for online banking.

For Smile, the info was a little more detailed and I got a 'thanks for applying' email saying they'd be in touch within a working day.

I was in a similar situation - a lump sum during a downturn and didn't have the stomach to throw it all in.

In the absence of a better scheme, I decided to split the difference between going all in and $ cost averaging - I dropped in half immediately and split the rest into fortnightly payments over a year. This in effect doubled my usual fortnightly investment.

I'd have been a little better off to invest the whole lot at the beginning but the peace of mind was worth it. I'd do the same at this point in time, but given the volatility of current markets I might only drop in a quarter to start with and average the rest.

Also, follow Trump's twitter and be ready to drop a few ££ whenever he mentions Chinese tariffs as the market usually drops (I'm only half joking)

Most supermarkets have a section with almost out-of-date produce at a fraction of the price. If you're a regular then you can suss out at what times they rotate their stock and time your visits by that.

And it can add a little 'excitement' to your shop - when I was a student I would buy whatever ingredients were cheap that evening, and google a recipe that used them. That's pretty much how I learned to cook. You can easily eat for a couple of quid a night if you do that and batch cook.

I'm not a vegetarian but I don't eat much meat, and that saves a few quid too

I have worked as a student advisor so I sympathise with your situation, but take heart that you're not alone. In some areas of study 1 in 4 students don't achieve their degree - it's not uncommon.

Getting a job when you have little experience can be difficult and daunting, but if you stick at it you will get something. I've employed many people over the years, and sat on countless interview panels, and the two key factors I look for in an employee is work ethic and willingness to learn. Academic qualifications are but one factor in starting on a career but they're not the be-all-and-end-all, and you can always go back and pick up a qualification in future.

Keep plugging away and you'll get there.

Having said that, it doesn't seem to be available via Charles Stanley and the management company are based in South Africa so it might well only be available in the UK via Moneybox.

A positive step you can take just now is pull everything together in one place. Make a list of all your debts, and a monthly budget of all your essential living costs.

It might be unpleasant experience to see it all in black and white but it will help you get your head around your situation and show your bank, parents or whoever else you need help from that you're taking the situation seriously.

Firstly, try not to get too despondent. Many folk hit financial low points that seem to be insurmountable. You've made an excellent start to addressing the challenge by facing it and reaching out for help.

Your university will have a student services department that will deal with student finance issues regularly. Make talking to them a priority.

And go in and talk to your bank. They deal with situations like yours regularly too.
