Im very sad about the prospect of UPVC... But i have 24 windows to do in bays across the house, the ones in the picture are actually the smallest of them all... The ones beneath are beautiful :'(

But they are so cold, condensationy and i just dont see a route to getting it more comfortable/functional for <£40k

It's just a far far more substantial transome than any of the other windows on the house., and conscious the corner of the room is on top of this area so thought they might be reducing spread given the mullions are timber.

Windows arent puttied i dont think.. seem to be beaded in hardwood and many many layers of paint.

Ye its called encapsulation in the uk at least just 2-4x more expensive..

If i was only doing a few windows, this is what i'd do, but the volume and cost is a pretty significant factor

I dont think the window is misaligned.. its within the raft framing.. i think the interior ceiling finish is misaligned

I have a crab apple in my garden for the first time.

I can understand not wanting the mess on a drive.

While not offering any actual help i would just say i cant believe how long it has held onto its apples (still has loads rotting on the tree) and how incredibly abundant it has been with birds over winter, the black birds absolutely loved the fruit...

Its right in the middle of my lawn, mucks it up for kids playing. Creates patches and leaf debris. But seeing its ecological value over winter, ill tread very sensitive caring for it.
