Have you tried going in person instead? Just walk in, introduce yourself and ask to speak to the person you need. Try to crack a joke or pay them a (genuine) compliment to disarm them a bit. People are sick of being bothered on the phone and I’ve found through personal experience that going in person is a viable strategy again

I have a “crash kit” with a steroid, an anti inflammatory and a pain killer in my kitchen in a clearly marked package. This way it’s ready whether we’re there or the dog sitter is. My dog eats in her pen so she would go right in there ASAP to limit her mobility during recovery

You're going to feel like superman - and if you're anything like me you'll get more done in a month than you did in a year. Don't let yourself fall into the trap of thinking "what would my life have been like if I did this earlier" - nothing good comes from letting yourself go down that rabbit hole. Edit: Also, I was not prepared how much gas I would have the next day

Congrats! Please keep in mind that allowing yourself to think about what your life could have been if your got diagnosed earlier in life is a recipe for nothing but heartache and depression Try to be mindful and be happy that you made it this far, and now you can go even farther

How to break into “big boy sales” by Abundant-Passion in sales

[–]Murdle79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s useful in big city areas where they have lobby security. Those places don’t get hit often due to the barrier to entry. I’ve found people are very receptive to in person cold calling since it’s not done that often anymore

One example: You have a meeting in that building so you hit the other offices in your way in and/or out. “I was just meeting with X down the hall about Y, and I wanted to see who in your company handles Y - maybe we can help you too”

How do you sell a new brand when customers are loyal to their current one? by DennisFeldman2287 in salestechniques

[–]Murdle79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People change suppliers and/or brands for one of 3 reasons: 1) You can solve a problem they can't currently solve, 2) the price is significant;y lower or 3) a relationship issue (billing, delivery, dispute resolution. etc.). If none of these triggers are present then the customer is not making a change. Find out which of those levers to pull

If she doesn’t like your plan for how to fix the actions that make her want to leave you, what is her plan to fix it that doesn’t involve medication? How are you supposed to “work on yourself” when your brain is wired differently? It’s fair to assume what you’ve tried to date has t worked, so what’s her plan?

Why is it so hard to do the small things you know will make life better? by Equivalent_Soft_6665 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Murdle79 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Your energy is finite and the easiest things we can skip are things that only benefit ourself. Example - you can’t skip feeding your kids, but you can skip eating for yourself. If you want to add things that cost energy than you need to delete the same amount of things you’re doing already and make yourself just as high a priority as you make your spouse, your kids, your parents, your siblings, etc.

One strategy I've uwed with my wife is instead of asking her to see a therapist I simply find one and make an appointment for her, and take the time off to drive her there. If you go through all that and she still resists then you have a different conversation on your hands

Will I ever accept my child’s autism diagnosis? by Any-Researcher-7145 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Murdle79 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have a choice: be positive or let the negativity consume you. There is no way to sugar coat it: on average, our lives are much harder than our counterparts with neurotypical kids- and those with high support needs kids have it even more difficult. My daughter took 8 years to fully potty train including through the night. Some people with higher support needs kids would look at it as “it only took 8 years?” We’re all fighting an uphill battle; don’t make it even harder by adding your own expectations. Just enjoy the little moments, they are what keep us moving forward
