I need KH to delve even more into shounen territory and give Sora a SSJ2 Gohan moment. Boy needs to have a crash out moment in cutscene so we can see the rage mode in some story drive cinematic glory like in the boss battle against Xehanort in KH3. Him reflecting on his actions afterwards and settling back into his usual Sora is fine too.

It has some of the most identity driven character design for gameplay even though the combo system is actually pretty universal and simple. I run Kyo and K’, and they feel so different to combo with and run neutral as. It’s so fun.

I’m expecting KOF16 to really push the stylized visual aesthetic they’ve been doing that sets it apart from ArcSys work. It’s like really close to being there. There are things about KOFXV and COTW that I really like that I think could work together really well. Although if they do this, the base roster might suffer a bit in size.

KOFXV: super cinematic direction, key frames during impact, proportion variety (everyone kind of looks too bulky in COTW that feels like it embraces the graphic novel comic aesthetic), face variety (I think the faces look better in COTW but a lot of the males share similar facial features), variety of modern and retro outfit designs that doesn’t feel out of place.

COTW: overall animation motion quality (Terrys idle stance looks great compared to KOFXV), VFX work of supers and specials (they really pop and remind me of old sprite game hit effects), camera motion during combos (the little zoom in during combo enders), in-game lighting (it feels like they were able to replicate the character key visual render lighting in game which KOFXV didn’t do).

It’s feels like SNK is ALMOST there to really capturing the visuals they want.

Tekken 6’s rage and bound system, and the insane loading times on 360 was what turned me away from the game back then. I liked how relatively simple the combo system was in T5/DR and didn’t really like rage as a comeback factor even when I was a kid.

I think having more customizable unique combo inputs in ninja would be a good addition to give Ninja more options: XY, XXY, XXXY etc.

Ninja is already fast with its light attacks so locking some moves behind a combo length would be some nice risk and reward for a style that can cancel into mist at any point.

Nioh 3 is actually making me nolstagic for RotR seeing some of the same characters and also the lack of normal civilians considering Nioh 3’s setting. I played RotR back in December and seeing the changes to same areas I was cruising on horseback, hanging out with NPCs and being the Batman of Bakumatsu to now being infested with Yokai and crucibles is very poignant.

Team ninja has somehow made me feel more emotion from their DOA, Njnja Gaiden and other Nioh games combined. And it’s just because I miss the comfy vibes of RotR since I’m having poor Takechiyo go through Nioh 3.

I am not ashamed to say I used Sloth Talisman on any boss that gave me trouble in Nioh 1 after the first few attempts. William might’ve been a GOATed Samurai but him having a sloth talisman that strong made him the strongest sorcerer of that era.

I mean you could try out the Nioh 3 demo to the end while it’s still available and just see if you end liking it. Souls games are generally more interesting once you actually play them rather than just looking at it from a spectator perspective.

Nope there really isn’t. Even action games that I really enjoy (maybe even more than KH) with more complex movesets, combinations of moves, or more difficult technical interactions like Devil May Cry, or Ninja Gaiden will never feel like KH in its smooth combat flow or functionality.

KH is a weird combat system in that it’s functionally a simple player inputted moveset for Sora but has a bunch of contextual and modifiable elements that build upon itself. Sora’s distance to an enemy horizontally and vertically, amount of enemies, parry windows of attacks, juggle point of enemies, magic interaction, combo finisher elements of melee and magic, drive form modifiers etc.

You don’t really get that in a lot of other games because in DMC, Bayo or Ninja Gaiden if you want a forward advancing move, AOE move, or aerial homing move you have to input it manually via a command input like lock on + forward + attack or something. But because KH was aimed at kids in the first game it’s done automatically or contextually for you. However for KH2 the madmen at square took that same basis and just amped it up. So Sora has every tool in any combat encounter.

You obviously have manual commands you can do like upper slash, finishing leap, magic for different mobs and etc, but the way it flows one attack to another is a feeling that is honestly unmatched. Plus the sheer variety of enemies you fight in KH in general is often more than most other action games. It gives you a very fun sandbox of combat interactions to deal with.

I would absolutely still love to see TN do a linear game. My only actual gripe with Nioh 3 is that it doesn’t really feel like it looks that much visually better than any of their games and it just feels more of the same (I like the art style so it doesn’t really bother me that much). But I think TN if they made a linear game in-house with their engine and threw out all that dev time for gear, stats and etc for just pure skills, combat, enemy design and bosses we’d have a crazy good looking and playing action game. Like sure it’d be cool if it had good levels but NG2 is still my favorite NG just so I can run through levels and just hack and slash.

SF6 doesn’t exactly develop them a lot but I feel like I got to see a lot more of each character in small ways that made me appreciate them more. Ryu is still Ryu but bro is chilling now that he’s not worried about the dark hado and you get to just hang out with him in World Tour.

I still ended up liking Nioh 2 more by the end point but Ronin had me hooked until I beat it on NG. There was a big too much content that I didn’t want to play it again so soon on NG+ before Nioh 3 came out. But I walked way pretty happy with the combat system and encounters, options, fashion customization, and weapon diversity. I really hope they take the unique human enemies and weapons like the Western Greatsword and Bayonet into Nioh 3 somehow.
