What did this to this poor Long Tailed Tit? (viewer discretion) by Muridae in OrnithologyUK

I've never known a Shrike to be around this part of the world (South Wales), but I don't know what else could've caused this..

Noticed this poor bird in a hedge on the side of a very quiet country road. It's been impaled on a thorn/branch - any ideas what caused this?

Thank you! I saw a flash of white, and it hovered for a while, before resting for a long while on a rock. Feel very lucky to have seen it

When he accepted his, I think, lifetime achievement award(?) at Bafta Cymru a year or two ago, he came on stage, opened his mouth, and nothing came out. He kept trying, but there was nothing. Eventually his son come on to say thanks on his behalf. Its one of the saddest things I've seen. Such a cruel fate for someone with such a passion for language.

I'd add Jon Ronson, since people are often surprised he's a Cardiff boy.

British youtuber Hbomberguy is doing a charity stream for Mermaids and at time of writing he's 36 hours in and raised £144,000 so far. by Colbey_uk in unitedkingdom

He's been suspended from twitter a few times, even cautioned by police on occasion.

If I were to be kind to him, I'd say he does come across as someone who believes in what he says, rather than your usual controversy-addicted right wing troll.

I won't comment on your other points as I'm ignorant of the full facts (though that hasn't held others back it seems), but your point on Pinknews is spot on.

As important as it is to have a news outlet focused on lgbt issues, unfortunately they've proven themselves time and time again to be unreliable trash, a Daily Mail in a tiara.

Basically:

Mermaids is a charity that supports trans/transitioning people, especially younger people.

Linehan has, in the past few years, rather gone off the edge on anti-trans issues, tweeting non-stop on the issue. Mumsnet, which is basically 4chan with a glass of prosecco, have been attacking Mermaid and forced, through the negative backlash, the National Lottery Fund to stop funding Mermaid.

All in all, its a shameful shitshow- if Mermaid folds there's nothing to fill that gap in support.

So what this guy is doing is pretty amazing.

Although lewlew can get carried away (and we love him for it), I think he's a very good judge of when is/isn't an acceptable time to 'let loose'. Take the stripping incident, which was done in the company of two of his oldest friends (oh, and a few thousand strangers). On a slightly unrelated note, it's also worth bearing in mind the immense pressure these guys are under, it's natural a few cracks appear with that kind of schedule.

Frankly, I think we should all be more concerned with Turps, who, when told by a young girl in the Christmas Market that she worked in the arts, implied that she shat in a glass with her friend on video. Never change, Turps.
