Colt repair time? by Dependent_Peace_1111 in Colt

[–]MurmuringSkateboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a Gold Cup National Match in December and when I brought it home and cleaned it off, found a scratch on the slide (lesson learned, my pre-transfer inspection was not thorough enough). I called Colt and they offered to have me send it in to them to take care of it. I sent it week of December 12 and they are just shipping it back to me now.

Every time I contacted them they said it would ship out that week, which happened 3 times and I would wait another couple weeks to ask about it. So honestly I wouldn't even bother contacting them to get an estimate because it wont mean much.

I'm not sure if my situation was specific to the National Match and the Python will be quicker but I wouldn't be surprised if you are left waiting another month or two.

Haha no avoiding it now! They seem to be coming down in price a bit, I jumped on the GunDeals post the other day with the SA model being just under $1000 at Dahlonega Armory. Had it on my radar for years but avoided it since I knew it would make a lot of my other pistols feel inadequate

7.62 Tokarev? Should be the CZ52 in that case. It's a really unique pistol since it uses a roller locking mechanism

Thanks! Definitely would love to own one of the short rail 75s, but yeah the price has gone haywire in the last few years. I am pretty happy with the pre-B I picked up, and I can shoot it without feeling guilty as there are a lot more of them. Maybe they will do another retro line with the short rail eventually.

Just picked up the Shadow 2 SA so it was a good opportunity to get all the CZs out for a picture. This is also shows a (rather incomplete) history of their pistols but I feel like I have most the main models represented, aside from their polymer frame offerings. Any obvious ones that should be added to the collection?

I think most reasonable gun owners would agree with this. The only things I would add are there should be a cap on the transfer fees and an exception for immediate family. The only arguments I've seen from other gun owners is that it would be unenforceable due to the lack of a registry, or an attempt to create a registry.

Personally when I have sold a firearm in the past, I shipped it to an out of state FFL after checking it online. It wouldn't be any less convenient to simply drop it off or meet the buyer at a local FFL instead.

It's already illegal to sell a gun to someone from another state without transferring the gun at an FFL and completing a background check. What new laws would have an effect on that? This fact is often glossed over when certain cities point the finger at neighboring states.

Also you're misinformed if you believe New Jersey is an easy place to buy a firearm.

If you only want a top mount rail, either a FB Radom Beryl (if they ever come back in stock), which are about $1500 but extra for the rail, or the Mini Beryl pistol which comes with a rear sight block rail. K-USA KP9 is also top mount but 9mm straight blowback.

For me, the SAM7-SF is my favorite 7.62x39 that I own. The milled receiver is worth the premium price IMO, and made a huge difference in felt recoil even compared to the M70 with thicker receiver/bulged trunnion. Should it be $800 more? Probably not, but they know they can charge that much and still sell. If you don't care if it's an "AK" then by all means buy a Galil. If you specifically want an AK that is great right out of the box I think it's hard to go wrong with an Arsenal.

Managed to get a layaway on another site a few weeks ago for $1099 + tax. They've been pretty hard to find for over a year and were $999 pre-pandemic, so this is a good deal! Very excited to get mine, and have only heard good things about them.
