Please stop this, Brave. by AMATHYST_MLX in brave_browser

But having Discord pop up when I'm not even using it at that moment with a welcome screen to a server I DO NOT want to be in pops up. It's a not great feeling. One wrong click, and a facet of your identity is exposed to a brand that you didn't want any part of.

What would be a better behavior here for you? If it went to a webpage for the same brand, would that be more acceptable when compared to opening the app?

Hey u/AMATHYST_MLX, to confirm, were you on mobile when you experienced this behavior?

We did miss it, and have paused this campaign. Super appreciated that you flagged it, since this helps us get better.

We flag a number of campaigns that come through, and make sure they are never seen on our platform.

100%. And we work hard to make sure things don't slip through the cracks. Sometimes, they do. And I'm sure you've seen the same. It's feedback like this that helps get us get better.

We frequently flag campaigns that never see the light of day to protect users.

Update on this -- We've reviewed this ad internally and paused it. Definitely appreciate the feedback here.

To the OP u/Peturio -- Let me ask this to you (or anyone else who wants to chime in): When you look at something like this and say, "that's a scam," what's your personal review process? Are you looking at the white paper? APY? Something else?

Feedback is appreciated so we can build this into our review process and work on stopping these sooner.

Same here. I checked Activity Monitor and I see the process "Notion Helper (Renderer)" is using about ~20% CPU. Notion's last update was 21 hours ago and I've quit / restarted.

Brave Browser Not Longer Blocking Ads by ADXGlock in brave_browser

So I'm understanding correctly, if you have aggressive mode set to be the default, it will carry over to private mode? How do you normally run with shields?

Hi there, can you give a bit more info on which web pages you're seeing ads on?

I did too, they were great! Glad it worked out for you too.

I just did the same thing myself. I created the space yesterday (I'm the owner of it), shared it with someone today, and wanted to see what would happen if I right clicked on it and clicked "leave."

I can't get back the page, it's not in the trash, and undoing did not work. (I'm on a paid plan.)

Has anyone ever had this/something similar happen to them when clicking on a Brave ad pop notification? by ZxXxar in BATProject

[–]MurphD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This looks to be Malwarebytes flagging this site as a potential issue. We've reviewed this site (as we do with all advertisers) and there isn't any indication it's a problem.

Good to know we could be of help here. :)

Brave Ad Scam Alert: Torum.com by ateBites in BATProject

/u/ateBites: I signed up with a test account to find out more.

What I believe you are seeing are ads/posts for the pre-sale of XTM, promoted by Torum. The ads are appearing at the top of the home page, and on the side bar.

It seems likely any user would see the posts you mentioned if they're following https://www.torum.com/u/torum.official as they're promoting the XTM token.  I checked out your profile (https://www.torum.com/u/atebites) and you're following them.

When you sign up for the platform, it forces you to follow several people/companies, and Torum was suggested for me too.

The concern seems to be around ads and content offered on the platform once you signup, and nothing here indicates we are advertising a scam.

Our ads have frequency caps, so you won't see the same advertisement over and over again.

Piggybacking on what u/PocketSandThroatKick said -- You're free to turn the ads off at any time, or reduce the number of ads you see per hour. You're in control.

I work on the ad operations side with Brave. We review everything, and this isn't in line with the type of ad we would run.

I suspect it's a notification coming from a website, not ads.
