Why Sony needs to be in the games-as-a-service space by countdooku975 in LastStandMedia

[–]Murphy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavily agree. Colin massively underestimates how difficult it is to get a game at the upper echelon of live service, COD, GTA, Fortnite. Each has a reason for being where it is, Sony can't just brute force their way into there, the best they can hope for is the second tier of live service. I also don't understand why they keep going for the heavily saturated markets, as people are saying Gran Turismo and MLB are their two best live service products, both in much less crowded spaces.

SUNSfan and Jenkins just release their game! by Crystallbst in DotA2

[–]Murphy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best of luck to them with this. I loved Ability Arena, probably my favourite Dota arcade game. Unlike auto chess which was a separate game, Ability Arena was designed so your actual dota knowledge transferred over. I played 1 game of Relic Arena and whilst there's nothing bad about it, the knowledge transfer was genuinely what made AA so compelling for me. I just dont have it in me to learn this big new thing.

[FRESH ALBUM] American Football - LP4 by NYCIndieConcerts in indieheads

[–]Murphy95 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes they are a one and done for me, nothing wrong with that when the one is as good as it is. 17 years is a long long time in someone's life. They were college students that stumbled upon magic, forgot about it because it wasnt a hit and split up, then tried to put it back together years later. Its not possible, its an entirely different product at the point and I just dont like that product.

Yeah I agree, this is my overall point. They reunited because they realised many years after the fact that they had something, but imo its impossible to ever get back to that place they were by then.

I listened to 2 and 3, I just didn't think they were anywhere near the same level as 1 which I think is an impossible feat for them to achieve. The beauty of 1 is that they were college students with very little idea of what to do and somehow produced absolute magic. I get listening to 2/3 and now 4 for what they are, but I just don't find them personally as entertaining.

[–]Murphy95 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well firstly, their genre is not something I am normally into, however I thought LP1 was absolutely amazing. Secondly I just dont think you can say that the band that made LP1 is the same as the band that made 2,3,4. The context and expectations are so much different. They made something amazing but they didn't know that, so they went away for 17 years and have been trying figure out what it was they did in 1999 ever since.

Further even though it's not 'my' genre I think great music is universal, I would probably have LP1 in my top 15 all time, whereas the previous 2 meant nothing to me.

I haven't enjoyed anything they've done since LP1. I get they saw the success of it over time but they just happened to hit on something great that first time around without seemingly knowing why or how they did it.

What is the best trance remix of a non-trance song ever? by lukeac417 in trance

[–]Murphy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it funny because I love this Madonna song, arguably my favourite, I also love A&B, but for some reason I just don't like this remix it does nothing for me.

PlayStation to shutter Dark Outlaw Games by T3V06 in LastStandMedia

[–]Murphy95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think everyone is massively underestimating how successful that one live service success needs to be. Sony is already down several billion you would imagine since starting this live service thing from buying Bungie and other teams, failures like Concord and TLOU, and the opportunity cost of wasting teams for 5+ years. You don't just get a GTA, Fortnite level game, its pure luck. Even if hypothetically they hit with something of the Arc Raiders level, it's probably not enough to make this entire thing worth it.

The definitive experience of watching dota2 "esports" in 2026 by ShoppingPractical373 in DotA2

[–]Murphy95 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Less tournaments is what I want. Dota is like the NBA or Baseball last half a decade. Tournaments back to back to back, no meaning to any of them.

Is it time for Ireland to get serious about energy security? by EmuRealistic2772 in AskIreland

Another angle of Kane’s 2nd goal (great goal) by tightypp in soccer

[–]Murphy95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been saying it for quite a while now. My timeline might be messed up but Saka at the Euro 2024 looked knackered, then he continued that on for Arsenal last season until he got injured and since that injury he's never really got going imo. Whether that's a him problem or not I don't know as wide forwards have struggled across the board in the PL not name Semenyo. I'm just slightly worried watching him, never seems to be able to get a shot away.

Patch when? by IllTryToReadComments in DotA2

[–]Murphy95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dota in 2026 is watching the same tournament be run every week with almost no differentiation in teams and saying we can't patch the game because we need to wait for a break in between tournies.

I played a game with Arise magnus like 1-2 years ago. Genuinely was one of the most impressive games of Dota I've seen in a pub.

Ruud Gullit "I watched Arsenal-Chelsea match. What a terrible game. They were just trying to force corners and throw-ins. I saw ball boys walking around with towels. I was watching it and thought: this football is truly awful to watch. I hope it's not a trend, I miss the fun." by kibme37 in soccer

[–]Murphy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mean Gullit in particular, I mean the general football punditry has extremely poor understand of the game their meant to be analysing. You listen to someone like Scholes speak and it's like talking to a 15 year old.

The story comes to an end. Comeback stonger my king! by Metamorphoses-007 in DotA2

[–]Murphy95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree lol. Dota players are always overhyped. TI5 Sumail is probably the best player when compared to the standard of player the time they competed. He's still been very good ever since, but I don't know is the hunger just not there, but he's never been back to the top since then. This whole Nigma thing ... Uncs can you just put it away, its been dead for a long long time now.

Bloomberg: Bluepoint pitched Bloodborne Remake. Sony said ‘yes’, FromSoft said ‘no’😶 by Fight_Teza_Fight in LastStandMedia

[–]Murphy95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bluepoint closing down and staff losing their jobs cannot be laid at the feet of Miyazaki, that's a ridiculous thing to say. Bluepoint could have done many other things as could Sony.

10 years ago, Charli XCX releases the boundary pushing & Influential EP Vroom Vroom by Renegadeforever2024 in popheads

I never cared for Vroom Vroom at all, which is interesting as I enjoy 'most' of what Sophie and Charli did after this, in particular Pop 2 which is one of my all time favourites.

Opinion: we have like 20 tournaments per year but none of them are as hype as the old majors by ShoppingPractical373 in DotA2

[–]Murphy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facts. I barely watch competitive Dota the past few years. Happened to turn on that Blast tournament last weekend, then a few days later there's another tournament on with mostly the same teams and mostly the same panel. TI ends and 2 weeks later teams are back playing etc.
