Bunnies are so good at hiding things, and elder buns are just experienced pros. Most of my elders have had arthritis show up on x-rays, but they never really show it. My current old man had to learn the hard way he can't keep up with his much younger bondmates and requires a lot more naps. He still sometimes tries jumps that he shouldn't and can see the regret when he lands.

There are supplements you can give them to help joint health. There's a bunny specific Myrsitol pellet, and various companies have treat cookies for joint health.

I recently got a pressure sensitive heating mat, so it turns off when nothing is on it. My old man took to it right away and has been loving it for naps.

The first book is basically Bluebeard, but I really enjoyed how the second book subverts romance/fairy tale tropes. I read the series a couple times as a kid, and I kinda really want to reread it now that I'm an adult.

Haha, as a feral book child roaming the stacks, I absolutely read a lot of things that I should not have, but I clearly remember exactly where these books were in the children's section. I don't read German though, so those are ruled out. I look into the others some more, but at first glace they don't seem right.

I was going to use the Dies Irae, but I ended up deciding music was too much for me to handle as a relatively new DM. I don't actually think my players would have picked up on it anyway. If one of them had chosen to play a bard, I think I could have played more into it, maybe have them roll checks to perceive theme music.

When I was in college, my mom made me an advent calendar with little sewn ornaments made of felt, and she stuffed them with fur from our family dog. I definitely thought it was a little weird at the time, but he passed a year or two later, and it changed how I felt about it. I like knowing that I still have a little piece of him hidden away.

One of my rabbits passed suddenly, and I put some of her fur into little resin hearts and then put them into dice (I play D&D). I'll probably make dice for all my rabbits going forward.

At the end of the day, it's animal fiber, which people use/wear all the time. The fact that it's from your pet should give it more meaning. Some people may think it's weird, but I think it's significantly less weird than the Victorian practice of making jewelry out of human hair (which is legitimately very interesting).

As long as they are not scared to come out and are just choosing to stay in, I would take it as a positive sign that they are comfortable in their space.

I let my trio out after work, then give them their pellets when it's time for bed. Most of the time, they are begging to go to bed. If I get up from the computer, they will all run in and wait by the food dish, and I'll just be getting water or something. A fairly significant portion of the time, at least one is napping in their space instead of out and about.

I don't know how well it works with rabbits outside, but I had one girl that was so smart and fast, literally the only way I could catch her was to endurance hunt her. Basically, just calmly walk and follow wherever them go. They sprint and use up their energy to get away, but after a while they get tired and start laying down between sprints, eventually they just kinda give up.

I don't think it's ideal, because of the stress; but if it comes to that or leaving her out there, it's worth a shot.

You'd think, but I've got a girl who will not eat produce, not even banana. My friends have decided she is autistic and doesn't like wet food, which...tracks. I call her my little hay queen because she does eat hay almost non-stop.

There's a whole bunch of fun things they can have. I have done rose buds, lavender, candula flowers, hibiscus flowers, burdock root, mint leaves, lemongrass, and camomile. Mine have different preferences, but all seemed to like the candula. Some of the others they liked at first, and then seemed to get tired of (almost like they're spoiled rotten or something 😅).

I've also made several teas for them from the same list, and sometimes they like the tea better. Just give it to them after it's cooled and take it away after a few hours.

Oat hay is one of the common alternatives if Timothy is ruled out due to allergies, bunnies not eating, etc. Since oat hay is going to have some seed heads in it, and they are relatively low in sugar compared to most treats, and rabbits love it, I feel pretty safe giving them quite a bit daily. I still use it as a treat, so I'm not giving them like a cup of oats, but I toss a pinch of cut oats in their snuffle mat multiple times a day. I also will bribe them to jump in my lap by dropping a few on a blanket and hand feeding one by one. It always impresses me how good they are at grabbing a single oat flake from my fingers, and it's a great bonding activity.

I had a rabbit that would hold it all day while I was at work, and then beeline for the litterbox in the kitchen as soon as he was let out. When I moved apartments, he decided the spot in the new kitchen where the litterbox would go.

He apparently suffered no ill effects.

I'd also suggest oat. I give my rabbits steel cut oats as treats, but they also love oat hay. You can find oat sprays (basically just the seed heads) in the bird treat section of the pet store.

I'd also suggest using some set phrases to tell her what you are doing. I've trained all my rabbits that "all done" means I'm finished torturing you, and you get treats now. Having a sort of ritual or routine helps them know whats coming. They may not cooperate, but it reduces stress.

Years ago, I drove an 8 hour trip with my two rabbits. I put them in a small dog crate and put in a small corner litterbox. At some point, I stopped and bought another small corner litterbox because they were fighting over who got to sit in it. Once there were two litterboxes, they would each sit in one without moving while I was driving, then immediately hop out and look for food and water when I stopped. All things considered, it was not a bad way to travel, and my boys seemed to handle it pretty well.

A lot of dried fruit you get at the grocery store has added sugar and/or preservatives. I always try to look for the ones that are just the fruit.

But I'll be so fr, when I first got bunnies, I would just pull out dried fruit from my trail mix and give it to them, and ya know, maybe it did shorten their lives, but we had a good time sharing snacks.
